We are working on making this once neglected space into a great wildlife habitat for birds as well as a gathering place for our friends and family. We will continue to post new photos as the season progresses. This backyard is in the inner sunset district which means lots of fog and cool ocean air in the summer (about 3 miles from the pacific ocean). One resource that we are very fortunate to have is our close proximity to Golden Gate Park and specifically, the San Francisco Botanical Gardens/Strybing Arboretum. This backyard is also fortunate in that it is surrounded on three sides by open, backyards (in varying states of upkeep) so we get lots of light and have a fair amount of trees and cover compared to most SF residents in highly residential areas like the Sunset. This area is considered Zone 9 on the USDA hardiness scale.
