Other than having a mentor and going to conformation classes, what is the best way to learn how to handle your dog? Any good book suggestions?
Thanks!

I love the dog shows, yet I wonder why the judges don't watch some dogs while they walk away? It seems that some dogs just don't get the attention of the others, even by announcers. It was a 3 hour show tonight, so how can they pick who to offend

How did the English Cocker Spaniels do in the Sporting Class? Didn't one of them place in the top four? I thought they were
great! Thanks.

Do you feel that a judge can make a completely fair choice of a breed if the judge has a passion and has breed a particular breed that they are judging. As was the case last night on the show with the non-sporting group?
I feel that a poor decision was made in that group and it should be reviewed.

I am a big fan of Shiba Inus and I never see them on most dog shows. Is there a reason they are not discussed or featured?
When they do happen to be on, the commentators are usually giving a warning about picking the right breed for the right reason. Is there something about the breed that the pros knows?

I am from Louisville,KY, home of the KY Derby, and know that the Derby and the champ. dog show go 1-2 as far as oldest sports in america. I know how the Derby was started, I was wondering if you could give me a brief summary of how the champ. dog show began. Thank you!

During day two of the dog show, it was mentioned that we would be seeing three of the four Belgian breeds "tonight." The three were the Malinois, Tervuren and the Belgian Shepherd. The fourth that was mentioned was Laekenois and it isn't AKC recognized yet. What surprised me was that it wasn't the Schipperke. I thought Schipperkes were Belgian so I had been expecting it to be mentioned as the fourth since it was shown on night one (and therefore not being shown "tonight.") Do you know why Schipperekes weren't mentioned in with the "Belgian breeds"?

You spelled the name right, but I wouldnt get a papillion with pit bulls. I had one- there is no way the dog could cope with that.
