i need to hear from someone who has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.i have received a diagnosis 2 weeks ago,but there are some questions about some of my symptoms which concern me.my drs. seem to be at a loss.does cervical cancer cause severe itching, night sweats, extreme weight loss(14% weight loss in 3 months),feeling of fullness even when you haven't eaten, abdominal pain, and numerous painless swollen lymph nodes(beginning with 2 1 year ago,now over 30 swollen, some have become hard)?i can find no link between these symptoms and the cancer i have.i also have all the symptoms of cervical cancer in addition to these.i would appreciate it if someone has any information, because i need to know whether this is something i should press for a further evaluation of,or chalk it up to the known cancer.if it's something else,i need to find out what because it could affect how my treatment needs to go.like i said,my drs. are confused also, but i have requested a biopsy of a lymph node quite a few times and they seem reluctant to pursue anything further.i get the feeling that they want it to all be connected, but something is nagging me about all this.i have been healthy for 33 years, and then have been sick for a year now, and getting worse and weaker.it has taken me this long to even get the diagnosis of cervical cancer, and that was by PET.in april,i had no evidence of any cancer cells present in my cervix.in july,it had become malignant.the PET also showed abnormal FDG uptake in my thymus, but they don't know why.i can find no connection with this either.please help me to know how to proceed.thank you, kdsjager
hi kdsjager. i, like yourself, have just been diagnosed with cervical cancer. today i underwent a PET and will hopefully find out the results in the next couple of days. none of the symptoms you described correlate with cervical cancer as far as i've researched and i can say that i am not experiencing any of them as well. noone knows your body better than you and if you feel something "else" is nagging at you, then make sure you press the issue for the doctors to find out what really is going on with you. all the best to you - you are in my thoughts.
