Are those three guys to most boring, unmemorable, dull, unintelligent, lame, and unattractive hosts ever on television? I looked forward to this show, but could bare stay through that straw and clay episode. We need a person Mike Rowe, or anyone host from MythBusters. They are funny, memorable, intelligent and people you want to watch every week.
I agree that this show should have different hosts, and I have another reason to add to the list. I read the bios since I was bored, and 2 of them are artists, while 1 ins in the TV industry as an of-screen guy. The hosts should have some kind of mechanical/engineering background, which none of these guys clearly have
Absolutely agree. Next season, I would like to see a new cast with an engineer, a gregarious host, and a skeptic. I'd also like to see an accompanying website with links, diagrams, further info etc. This could be a great show -- Just not with the three artistes in the lime green van
I could care less what the guys look like or how boring they are. I really wished they had a Mechanical Engineer, Chemical Engineer, and Electrical Engineer with skeptical yet intrigued attitudes. It's kind of hard to take guys serious that don't have a technical background...especially when they are "artists."
I think as a baseline, we all have to accept that this was a series done on a shoestring budget. More than likely, this was some VIP's favorite nephews idea, and it got the nod.
How else can you explain an organization that can create something like Dirty Jobs, Alaskan King Crabs, and this?
For the amount of money they budgeted, they obviously could not afford to get people with degrees, or stable jobs. Hoping they'll do something like Smash Labs is simply not gonna happen, especially with the ratings this show has gotten.
Cutesy 21st Century hippy look is fail.
They could have done/do so much better by just researching the bio-diesel forums on Yahoo or other sites and finding an unemployed tinkerer who's simply into alternative energy. Find someone likeable, and able to research the different technologies, and send him around the country. Better yet, get him a nice little diesel to convert to WVO, and have him film himself as he goes across country, checking out various small biodiesel co-ops, and the trials and tribulations as he breaks down or runs across interesting alternative energy communes.
All these types of people are spread all over the country, and tons of them are a click away on a yahoo group or forum somewhere.
Many of them would be more than interested in meeting and being filmed.
Most people into things like bio-diesel or solar are already interested and moderately educated on the other alternative energy technologies.
Unless or until another channel whips their butt and actually puts some money into something like this, we're all going to be stuck with dreck like this.
I like Chris, I think he should stay. I can tell that he's passionate about the topics. The other two are a box of rocks. Especially Micah. The dude sounds dopey as hell. I agree the show needs a lively host.
I also think that they should stay on each invention longer. Some are simpler then others but man they travel a billion miles to see what one guy has been working on for his entire life and they only spend a few minutes there. GOTTA GO! LATER.
Cool concept for a show though. I like it overall.
