How long did it take for you to be contacted once you signed up? I have an unusual idea and signed up about 3 weeks ago.

Thanks,

I can't remember exactly but it was about 3-5 weeks after I applied.

I watched your episode last week and thought that you handled yourself very well. The room looked great and it was so sweet to see how excited your mom was. The crew seems fun to work with. I know that whenever creative juices are flowing that tempers can flare. It seemed like you held it together perfectly.

I hope that I answered my questions correctly and made my idea sound fun and different. I have watched the majority of the shows so far and at this point my idea is different.

For me it was about 1 week after I applied for the show. But the whole process took about 3 months.

How were you notified that your application was chosen?

I am from the Enchanted Castle Garage. My husband was called two days after he sent his application.

I have just registered at this site. I watch "While You Were Out" all the time. I was interested in applying in order to surprise my husband. His "honey do" list keeps getting longer!! I was curious on how a budget is set up for the new renovations? I have have found the application information page. Confused If anyone knows this info, please let me know. Thanks!!

Regan (or anyone else "in the know"):
I, too, made application a little over a week ago and I wondered if you could answer the following. . .

Are applicants chosen by geographical location (i.e., they hold applications until they receive several from the same area)?
or
Do they take into consideration the ratio of indoor to outdoor applications?

Mine is an outdoor application and they don't seem to do as many of these shows.

Your thoughts? Confused

They do hold apps due to location. They choose the area where they are shooting next and then they choose the people.

I don't know about the indoor/outdoor ratio. But when they came to New Orleans, they did three indoor. So I think it just depends on who applies.

You were so cute on the show!

Is your Mom actually playing her drums yet? What a genuinely darling family moment in the reveal!

How was the crew? Maybe you answered these questions before...I am new to these boards, but did see the show a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it.

As a mother and as a daughter...I was very touched by your relationship!

My mom has started playing the drums. She hasn't started lessons, but she does get up there when no one is home and bangs away.

The crew was great. Everyone was really great. We had a lot of fun cutting up at times, but they also got their work done.

Thanks for the kind words!

and it said when they announced the Florida locale, they had 55 applications to choose from. So I'd say your odds are okay (3 out of 55) of being chosen. Well, better than the lottery Wink I guess as the show gains in popularity its going to get a little more difficult. I hope you get on! Smile

Regan or anyone else that has applied, does it help to send pictures of the room or to do anything to get their attention? I know they get tons of apps. I live outside DC and would love to do a room for my husband - any tips??

thanks

Once they contact you and ask for more info....you should definitely send photos. I sent pictures of the front, rear, and driveway of my house. I also sent pictures of the room and pictures of my family.

I bet DC has tons of applications. New Orleans had 1400, so good luck and let us know how it goes.

But if he had needed to wash his clothes I wouldn't have minded. It was my parent's laundry room he would have been using.
