Recently I was channel surfing through my cable channels and I came across a commercial for a show on Spike TV: The Hunt for Monster Sharks. I thought maybe they meant to photograph the sharks for research, but the commercial soon betrayed my hopes. This TV channel is openly promoting and supporting the fishing and slaughter of some of the oldest and most important animals on planet earth. I was shocked and immediately angered, almost beyond comprehension.
Spike TV can turn anything into a bloodsport, and I want to know if there is anything I can do or anyone I can contact to help give Spike TV as much bad publicity as possible. I want the producers held responsible for thinking this would be a good idea. They are openly promoting the hunting and slaughter of animals that should/could be on the endangered species list. Furthermore, they are sensationializing it on TV, where millions of children and impressible adults get their ideas from. The image this portrays of Americans is despicable and is an insult to those of us who do care.
I'm simply shocked that they (Spike TV) can be so callous and ignorant in a day and age when the plight of these magnificant creatures is broadcast throughout the world on a daily basis. The whole show is in direct contrast to the message other TV channels like The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, and others are trying to make.
I wanted to bring this to someone's attention, because I know my tiny voice would go unheard if I tried to approach Spike TV myself. Is there anything I can do to help facilitate getting this show pulled? In my mind, the fishermen and anyone at Spike involved in this barbarism are nothing more than common poachers, except that they've now brought their horrible acts to television and are spreading their disease on TV.

Dear Ghosttarcer71,

Hello, I am JulFire. I understand your thoughts. So why not writer to the government about removeing the show, well maybe not the government but I think you can go to their website and write to them and if that doesn't work than the government. Good luck!

Hi JulFire! Thanks for your reply and thoughts. I've emailed several organizations in the past weeks, and have recieved a few responses so far. In addition, through the World Wildlife Fund's website, I emailed Sen. Joseph Biden, urging him to call for a hearing on the Law of the Sea treaty which would help to protect marine habitats around the world, including sharks and the reefs they live on. I plan to continue sending emails to organizations and I'm looking into putting together a petition, so we'll see where it goes from here.

How bad is the show really? Are they hunting endangered or threatened species or over fishing? I'm still new to alot of things and all but how is this different then regular fishing?
