Hello, my name is Rachel and I'm a fifteen year old girl that wants to talk about the abuse of seals in canada, it's making me so mad I can hardly stand it. I want to stop this, I mean just go to google images and type in "seals" and there will be pictures that just tear at your heart. especially if your an animal lover like myself. lets talk about this guys.
The annual Canadian Baby Harp Seal Hunt is extremely cruel and disgusting. The enitirity of the hunt is completely horrific. Unfortunately, theres is nothing that can be done overnight to stop this. However, fortunately there are small things you can do to help not to condone this. First and foremost DO NOT buy products from fashion designers who purchse seal skin even if it isn't a seal fur article. The fashion designers support this hunt, so any clothes you purchase of theirs in turn you support the hunt. For more info on what you can do, and designers/companies that support the hunt go toHumane Society of United States just type in Seals in the search bar and you'll get a whole page on awareness and helping. Paul McCartney, a member from the Beatles Band, is involved with the HSUS as an activist in stopping this hunt. I believe he has a petition/pledge going. Rachel another thing you can do that can have even a heavier impact is bringing awareness to other people. Tell others about this, and the small things that they can do to help stop the support for this hunt. The main reason that animal cruelty exists in every aspect of the commercial industry no matter if it is Factory Farms, Fur Farms, Slaughter Transport, or the Seal Hunt is that the public is completely unaware of it. Which I believe our Government wants. The more aware people become of the horrific conditions and treatment these animals receive and endure the less the public is to condone it. Thank you for doing what you can to help end animal cruelty for human benefits. ITs great to see the younger generations taking an interest in this.
Thank you for the advice, it just makes me sick to see that stuff happening in our world, and I'll try my hardest to spread the word. Stupid government. again, thank you, you give me hope.
These designers have made the humane choice to go fur-free:
Manish Arora Victoria Bartlett Marc Bouwer Victoria Beckham (VB) Duckie Brown Oleg Cassini Richard Chai Benjamin Cho Kenneth Cole Elizabeth Emanuel Erin Fetherston Sadie Frost and Jemima French (Frost/French) Pierre Garroudi Alexandre Herchcovitch Betsey Johnson Ralph Lauren Stella McCartney Jay McCarroll Todd Oldham Trovata Vivienne Westwood Ya-Ya
Attention shoppers: Beware! If you intend to boycott designers who still use and promote fur, please be advised that the above listing is only intended as a general guide. On occasion, some designers have announced their intention to go fur-free, only to renege on their commitment in subsequent seasons for the sake of short term economic gain.
COMPANIES, RESTUARANTS, & STORES THAT HAVE PLEDGED to help protest the seal hunt by boycotting some or all Canadian seafood boycott:
Sorry, no help here, Animal harvesting is a valuable renewable natural resorce. If you relly want to help the seals, invent a better mousetrap. maybee some kind of snare/ spring loaded device of taking them more humainly. other than that its futile. heck, maybee you could win the sience fair at your school. but dont forget that we as humans were ment to use animals and eat meat. ie: insisor teeth and eyes front of head to focus on prey. thats just the way it is....
I completely agree with you that the Canadian seal hunt is barbaric. Here's the link to the HSUS webpage eponashorses mentioned that gives you suggestions for what you can do to protest this cruel hunt, such as contacting the Canadian embassy. http://www.hsus.org/protect_seals.html
Because you're in school you can always choose to use the seal hunt or other animal welfare issues when you need to choose topics for school projects, speeches, etc. That's what I used to do. You could also write an article on the subject for your school paper.
