it must be hard for people like sig and phil to have family members on the ships. i mean yeah it is great to have a brother or son on your ship but what if something happened to them? like what if phil is up in his wheelhouse doin his job and for some reason josh or jake are tying the pots up. what happens if they fall over board and they arent rescued in time? think of the physical and emotional toll that will have on phil's life. he will probably blame himself forever and probably go into a depression and kill himself slowly from the inside out. i mean if that were to happen to me i would feel so completly lost and desolate i would have no clue how to even begin the healing process.
I don't really get it either. It seems to me you'd want them on another boat, just to avoid the distraction. Distraction can be deadly on those boats. Then again, maybe they feel it's better to be able to have watch over them? Dunno. Either which way, I agree. I wouldn't have my kid on my boat.
I think it is definitely a difficult situation. However, would you really want your son or brother competing against you on a different boat. Also, there is the "taking over the family business" aspect...you can't take over the family business if you don't first learn how to. I do think that if anything ever happened though that any captain would feel horrible about the situation.
i fish with my brother quite a bit. i know he's always got my back covered.we work well together because we know how each other acts. blood is thicker than water
yeah it would be hard to have your son or brother compete against you but i would prefer them to not be out there at all. i mean i know im just a kid but i have a nephew and i know i wouldnt want him out there i can only imagine how those feelings would be intensified if he were my son. i also wouldnt want either one of my brothers out there. i think i might be able to handle having a husband out there but i doubt it.
