I was so happy to see that Blake did not return. He is one "captain", I can do without. I really liked Rick Quashnick and his gruff old ways, but Blake has no business being the captain of a crab boat. Come back Rick and Donna, not to mention that crusty ole salt Hiram.

Yah! Bring Hiram back where ever he is...He was crankee if he didn't eat, but he always had something to say on deck. Some times he was just cranky but he was always "interesting" .

I totally agree about Blake but I liked Hiram. Donna was a pain she tried to mother the crew, leave her on the dock and bring back The Maverick with Rick in the wheelhouse!
Agreed. Blake only wanted to be a Captain for the increase in pay. He didn't know where to find the crab, he actually had to BEG other Captain's for their secret spots, that took them YEARS to locate. Biggest mistake Rick ever made, was making him a Captain.

OK, we get it. Everyone hates Blake. He hasn't been on the show for the past 2 seasons, so why do we keep bringing him up again just to bash him? Time to let it go!
I heard there was alot more to it than meets the eye. Including editting that made him out to be something different all in the name of television drama. I don't recall where I saw the article, but after reading it I really kinda felt bad for Blake. It seemed as if the network did him wrong to make the show more dramatic. That's just what i have read. Just an FYI for ya'all!

what do you think about phil harris?
seriously though, i think editing painted a bad picture of blake.. you have to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.. and trust those who work with him and actually know him.

yeah really... last year called and wants its topic back... wait is this an old topic?..................................
Remeber when Hiram was upset because the rule changes had put a lot of his friends out of work? Blake was preaching to him that, that was just the way things go in life. Get over it or get off of the boat. BUT, when Rick decided not to tun the Maverick over to Blake in the middle of the trip, because the crew was ready to mutiny, Blake threw a hissy fit as if he were a three year old. Not captain material!
Yeh Blake was irritating . I disliked him from the beginning because of his attitude but when he gave up Phils fishing spot after Phil helped him out you knew what he is! They should bring back Rick & Hiram.

but that may have been the first time blake got upset like that... for all we know hiram was complaining the entire trip and blake just got tired of it. You have to admit, if you were told you would be captaining and then told no in the middle of it, it would have an effect on you.
I for one am glad there are no camera's where I work, because I have had plenty of bad days and probably acted like I was younger because a boss went back on their word!
I'm glad that most of you have never had a bad day at work! Do you think if there were cameras where you work they may never find you in that moment of being mad.

Before everybody goes on with the bashing, check out the other side of the arguement. Remember its rather unfair to base your whole opnion strictly on what the editors from OP have shown us. This is a link to Blakes side of the story. http://www.fv-eveningstar.com/thoughts.html I'm not saying he was totally in the right but at least take a look at this. It has some interesting points in it that nmake one think. One big thing that the above quoted post made me think about, as far as Blake "betraying" Phil by telling Corky about the honey hole that Phil gave him. As I recall, those three ships were allied so to speak and were supposed to be sharing info. All that aside, if you watch the episode, it appears rather impossible that Phil would have overheadr Blake talking to Corky as it looked as though Blake was speaking on the phone not the radio. It appeared the scene was two seperate conversations spliced together as it flip-flopped between showing him on the radio as first then the phone. quite honestly as far as him coming up short on his crab count, I think Phil summed it up by saying he'd no doubt make some mistakes, being his first year as a crab boat skipper. All in all, it's not as though I really like Blake all that much(actually his personallity seems a tad annoying) what bothers me is that it seems that the ppl at OP decided they needed a bad guy/dimwit and "creatively" edited thier footage to make Blake thier man so to speak. Much as Mr Beers has done with virtually all his shows.
Why is my message edited by the mod_ivy and it says the same thing it did when I posted it days ago? Why do they go into our posts when we have posted nothing to be monitored? I want to know why they do that? I see they did Seahorse's the same way and I think hers says the same thing it did when she posted it. Looks like they went into quite a few but I don't know if the others posts were changed or not. No wonder people leave this board.
They took out the quotes so now it looks like I was referring to Blake instead of Hiram. I'm starting to believe what I've heard about how things work on this board.
