Ok, it's well established most our crabbers have at least a few superstitions: never leaving port on Friday, Edgar biting the head off a herring, etc.
But what about YOUR work? Any unusual superstitons or rituals? Or one you'v heard of in other places?
I've heard of some firehouses where they will not allow spaghetti to be served. Rigatoni, macaroni, etc. are all fine. But the long spaghetti is supposed to represent tangled firehoses, the kind that get firefighters killed. And of course all actors have the one about "the Scottish play". (Even though I've just done community theater, I still won't type the actual name of the play here!)
I work in software, and software guys/gals tend to be very logical and not superstitious. But if you're in the middle of a deployment, you never say how well (or bad) things are going to go. Never. It jinxes the project every time.
