Why does everyone miss The Rollo? Some of the crew were out of hand. One crew member almost killing himself by doing that stupid stunt swinging out on a rope overboard and almost falling in the ocean. I do not think that some of the crew had enough respect for the job itself.
We miss the Rollo because they were part of the show, part of the storyline that had been established. It would be a really boring show just watching guys setting pots, one after the other...goofing around and horseplay, stupid or unsafe or not, are part of what makes the show interesting. It's seems kind of strange to not miss a boat because of the crew horsing around. If you don't like them, you don't like them, just say so.
thanks for the web page for the rollo....they are missed on this season there antics were a great way of showing how a well oiled crab boat works and plays together
Catch the book: Lost at Sea about the loss of 14 crew members in one day in the Bering Sea. Voted one of the best books of 1998 and the prototype for this series.
Excellent post! WHERE IS THE ROLLO? Does anyone with the Discovery Channel have a response?
What should the viewers conclude? Could it be the camera crew expressed concerns for their safety on a smaller boat in high seas? Was it the size of the living quarters on their boat?Or was it just the need for a change of scenery? All of this is understandable, but it would be interresting to know.
In comparison to the rest of the televised hulking crab fleet, I for one think Skipper Eric did a masterful job navigating his SS Minnow-like ship. If you are out there Captain Eric, I sincerely hope you made it through this season both physically and financially. You and your crew are brave humanbeings! Perhaps all of us who enjoyed Season 2 will see you in an encore in Season 4.
This season, I for one, will sincerely miss any sequels to the crew's jovial "deck dance" for the Coast Guard.
I felt as if I ws "kicked in the guts" when I didn't see the Rollo last night on D.C. Perhaps, he is doing boat repairs, and will be back on for Opies Season 3????? I hope the crew and boat are fine, but, Discovery Channel should let us know.
Quote For those of you that are constantly asking if we will be on Deadliest Catch Season 3, thanks for your loyalty. We have regressed from the rock-stardom life of fishing reali-documentary fame and will not appear this season. Of course if you wish to see us back in a future season, I'd suggest writing a letter to the nice people at Discovery and tell them what you think. Anything is possible. Meanwhile, we'll be out there... far from the spotlight having flounder fights on deck, playing with seabirds, and hiding octopus in the bathroom. Oh, the footage that you didn't see and the footage that was never shot....
Yeah....and besides, The Rollo had KITTY on board for Opies!!!! We were robbed and deprived of so much!!!!!!!!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DISCOVERY CHANNEL PRODUCERS, DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET THE ROLLO AND THEIR CREW BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They weren't my favorite boat. I guess because of the swinging hook incident, as well as seeing a lot of goofing off of the crew on deck.
But hey, at least they were different and had some personalities. I thought the dance for the Coast Guard was pretty funny. So yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing them back.
I am also disappointed that the Rollo is not apart of this season. Yes some dangerous things did take place on that boat, but at least they appear to be making the best out of a bleak situation.

The crew were just young, and kids play.Yes they did some dumb things but thats the way kids are. They can do everything by the numbers and still die;so cut them some slack. I'll give odds you screwed up at 20. I know I did!
yes, even though the crew is young and was at times a little out of hand, it gave a little diversity between the crews. The Rollo showed that even the young crew members and captains can take advantage of the open Bering Sea. I agree the Rollo needs to come back, i loved watching their crazy antics, like when the coast gaurd boarded them and the two crew members said goodbye to them in those crazy blow up costumes, it was great.
Captain Eric Nyhammer has great appeal, humanity and grit. Makes for some very intriguing viewing. I was so disappointed when I found no Rollo for season 3, that it took my breath away. Where else are we going to find intellegence, humor, integrity and fat suits all on one boat? Eric, I miss you and so does a few million of my friends! Take care, and we pray for you always for a safe return home.
