so far im not empressed with the prodction of the show. it seems to me that the producers where rushing this year. i dont like the fact that the are already showing After The Catch. that should of been for later on. before you now it this season is over. were are all the rescues? you mean to say theres only been one during king crab. what about opillio. so far the only action has been about Phil. i dont know maybe im over reacting. but then again look at how much excitment there was in past seasons that the producer would show..

i'm sure if there was a rescue they would have shown it.. personally i thought the beginning of last year's rescue was too drawn out. The Time Bandit rescue was good though and there is no way they can top that this year.

time bandit rescue was good but, the big valley still takes the cake. especially when the captian demonstrated how to use the suit in an interview, then died shortly after when the boat sank. you have 80 boats that went out this year. nothing happend to them? the show isnt over yet so we will see if anything eles will happen.

Um, sorry to be a killjoy, but am I the only one that hopes NOTHING happens? I mean, jeez, people's lives are on the line and you want action?

look lets be honest, the main reason most of us started watchinbg this program was of the dangerours situatins that the fishermans go through and all of the misfortunes. this show would have never made it if this things didnt happen. this show didnt even get popular until season 3. it was already on 2 years before and it wasent even called what it is now. Smile

That's true. But to be honest I turned it on because Jake Harris was cute. lol
It's confusing to watch, cuz you want something to happen, but you hope nobody gets hurt when it does. :-/

I must also be in the minority because I don't ever want to see another man overboard or ship sinking. I don't watch for that. At all.
And while I think some of the men are mildly attractive (Andy), I don't watch for that either.
I find the crabbing process fascinating. I enjoy seeing something so far removed from my own life and job. I still get excited after all these shows when a full pot comes up. I love estimating it in my head and high-fiving myself when I'm close in my crab count.
And my favorite parts are the Edgar MacGuyver moments and Edgar one-liners.

LOL TanyaTurner about Edgar "MacGuyver" moments..that's exactly what I thought when the Northwestern brought up that anchor chain on one try! Smile His one liners also crack me up as well. You are not in a minority--I watch for the same reasons you do. I remember watching the pilot when I was on pregnancy bedrest and being astounded by the crab harvesting process. Now, my kids LOVE the action (they are little, so we don't watch unsuccessful rescue situations). The kids have named their kayaks the "Cornelia Marie", "Time Bandit" and "Northwestern" and paddle around in our "sea" (a 100 acre lake). Big Grin Great fun!

Well, I guess I'm the odd one here because I don't want anyone to go overboard. The two rescues I've seen, I actually left the room the first time they were on the air.

What I LOVE is the weather, the seas, and--the most fascinating of all--the sea ice, how quickly it forms, moves, and its power. Never having experienced sea ice, it's almost hypnotic.

I also love the relationships between the crew members, the crew members and their captains, and the catains.

I wish they would show more of the ships themselves, especially the galley and the engin room.

But rescues? I'd be just as happy if I never watched another one.

when wee all dont want to see anyone hurt. my thoughts are on the producers. dont you think they tried to rush this year too fast. i like it when they showed atfer the catch when the season was done. not during. that way there was more time to watch show..

Since I'm close to the Gulf of Mexico the ice part of the sea fascinates me also. When Matt and Edgar got out of the boat in the middle of the Bering Sea to stand on ice was just amazing to watch. I would imagine that is akin to seeing the earth while standing on the moon; such a surreal vantage point. I know the ice is extremely dangerous but I still love watching the ice episodes over and over.

It was amazing to watch when they showed Jonathan struggling in the ice last year (or maybe the year before - i lost count) but reading about it in the Time Bandit book had additional details and somehow brought it to life even more.
