there are times on the show where they ambush people that look okay and they try to transform there style completely and say that certain things that the person own in their closet is out of style, and then you'll either see stacey or clinton wearing something similar to what they told that person that was out of style. If they ever told me i needed a makeover id be like you know what you better check yourself first but anyways everyone has their own style

Horizontal stripes are unflattering on a heavy person or a person with a large chest. That doesn't mean a thin person or small chested person can't wear them. That's one thing they don't always make clear on the show: most of their "rules" are specific to the individual and can't be generalized to every other person.
The better your body is, the more variety you can have in your wardrobe. S & C look great and CAN get away with a whole world of stuff that less stellar folks can only dream of. I like Clinton's sometimes loud pants and whimsical shirts. They look good in the right colors on a slender, tall figure. But could you imagine those EXACT same clothes on a guy that was 5'5" that had a little bit of slouch and a tummy pooch?! It would look comical!
I do agree that S&C don't allow for much individual style. Sometimes the cookie-cutter approach gets on my nerves. I remember a woman who was a wannabee police officer or something who had an athletic 'Rosie O'Donnell' shape. Her MO just SCREAMED for casual, but well cut relaxed clothing. But she was put in that silly 'short jacket- fitted shirt- pointy shoe' pidgeon hole. It was an improvement...but it wasn't HER.
