I normally agree with Stacy's criticism of most clothing/shoes etc. However, she made a remark about some shoes in a recent show about a court reporter from Florida that has me doubting her sensitivity to anything.

Stacy picked up a pair of ugly boots and remarked, "Did you have polio as a child" or something to that effect. As a polio survivor, I was truly appalled at Stacy's insensitivity. Yes, I indeed had to wear "ugly" shoes when I was a child. I hated them. I would have given anything to wear cute shoes like my classmates, but I couldn't. Even today, because of many foot problems (and a size 2 foot) I have a very difficult time finding even one pair of athletic shoes, much less a closet-full of fancy pointed things.

So Stacy, please be a little more sensitive to those of us who must wear "unfashionable" shoes.

The fact that you indeed had to wear ugly shoes, is what makes that joke work.
Was that episode a more recent one? Because with each season they have to get more insulting and push the envelope more. Or else the ratings will fall.
I think you should lighten up a little.
I've had Lupus for many years,.and when I took cortisone it made me very fat. If Stacey was looking at a wardrobe with size 2's and size 12's and said what's with the size differences, do you have lupus or something? I would think it was funny. You have to be able to laugh at yourself.
Of course I know that wouldn't happen on the show cuz it's not common knowledge about Lupus, but still I wouldn't be offended.

I'm also bipolar; (hence the nickname)...., and if a MO had a wardrobe with slutty clothes and nun's clothes and she said,.....well you see where I'm going.

I love Stacy and Clinton's humor (I started another thread on it) and realize they have to affect change in the MOs AND entertain, which can be a challenge.
While they almost always do it well, this one was a remark I thought stuck a toe over the line. I can see why someone wouldn't find it funny.
But that said, I'm sure she was speaking in general terms, and would never say that to an individual who'd dealt with polio. So while I wish she'd chosen another remark, or that the editors had pulled it, I'm cutting her slack and I'm choosing not to take it so seriously.
They do incredible work with the MOs, are very sensitive to the individual, and are DAMN funny!

There was another remark I haven't seen anybody comment on that I thought was HILARIOUS, but I could see where it might have ticked off one or two people.
Some MO had a sideways scrunchy in her hair, and Clinton said, "Who does that? Suzanne Somers, but that was in the 70s!" Stacy said, "For God's sake, the woman is almost dead!"
She of course was referring to Suzanne's age, and I thought the remark was a howl, because while she's older she's not dead yet. She's a public figure, have some fun with her. I laughed out loud. But then I thought, "Oh wait, she did actually have health troubles recently. Uh-oh."
Clinton must have had the same immediate thought, because he gave it one of those looks like "OMG, did she just say that?"
But that's that S + C New York humor, and I'm sorry, it was funny! In general, I'm on the side of not taking everything too seriously. But if it ticks you off, vent on this board and you'll at least have gotten your point across!
