i just wanted to say i wasn't impressed with the episode that aired tonight. i didn't like that they were in old navy. i like when people come off the show looking sleek and expensive and tonight's show didn't really end up that way. does anyone else feel the same?

Well, at least it's 100% better than LAST week's show! Wink

I'm still undecided about the shorter hair cut. Overall, I liked the clothes. But tru, this episode lacked the WOW factor many previous eppis have had. Still, I was glad to see the show back on track.

I thought it aged her, too. IMO, Nick could have simply shaped her longer hair and kept a youthful look about her.

I personally thought her hair and clothes were a heck of a lot better than they were "before".

I agree with the Old Navy comment someone made. I am a size 10 and never have luck in that store seems all there clothes are cut for my 10 year old. And I liked her hair long maybe a long shag would have looked good on her. I have seen this style from Nick alot this year.

I actually liked the fact that they were in Old Navy. That store is a heck of a lot cheaper in prices than, say,H&M or Precision or all those other fancy-schmancy stores they usually shop at.It was nice to see that you can look good even if you don't shop at the most expensive stores.

There was something missing in this episode.I can't quite pin-point what it was.

And by the way,I found it amusing that they no longer use the regular blue Visa Cards. It's now Bank Of America.

I think it was great they went to Old Navy. There have been so many complaints that they dont take the makeovers to a store that a average person can afford . Well now they have, maybe they actually took the idea from the board.

I thought the MO had a lot more potential than was realized. In fact, some of her figure flaws were hidden by the before clothes, and highlighted by the reveal ones!

I especially didn't like the puffy sleeves on the jacket (Clinton pointed out how nice they were).

Both the hairstyle, and the makeup, were aging. A choppier style (her hair has great texture) would have been more youthful than that unimaginative bob; and all the eye makeup needed much, much more smudging.

I really liked the snippet where the Macy's assistant pointed out the characteristics of a dress for a party when "one doesn't have a clue what others will be wearing." (Basic black, knee length, and personalized with accessories.) Although I know the black dress can be overused, it's still a very good "go-to" look in an unsure situation.

And, I am relieved that it was a real program, again.

I can understand why they had her shop at Old Navy. The woman had issues with spending money on clothes. I think it was a way to ease her into the idea of more stylish clothing without overwhelming her.

For the most part, I thought she looked good. I didn't like the puffy shoulders on the jacket. In fact, I have a pinstriped denim jacket with that shoulder that's looking for a new home. It's not a good look for me.

The eye makeup could have been better, but she seemed to be a minimalist who didn't want to spend much time on her face in the morning. Carmindy gave her a look the MO felt she could manage to keep up.

There have been better episodes, but I thought they did well in working with her issues and still improving her appearance.

The hanger thing was very weird.

Shamrockss, I think you hit the nail on the head! Most of us are always posting against the expensive stores they have the MO's shop at -- so the producers must have said, "alright already!"
Besides, the woman did feel very strongly about thrifty clothing vs. designer clothing.
I do hope she didn't ONLY shop at Old Navy!!

I wasn't feeling too good last night, and ended up falling asleep before the show was over (the show didnt bore me- I just had a hard day) so I hope they show a rerun this afternoon. She has the same figure flaws that I have. I'm 5'3 and pear shaped as well-- but my hips are a bit more wider than hers.

I felt she was very attractive to begin with-- and just need a style revamping. Maybe they picked the puffy sleeve jacket for her to balance a pear shaped figure (?)

As for her hair, at least hair grows- and I'm sure it will grow in nicely :-)

I hope she seeks help for her fixation on perfectly neat hanger arrangements. Seems to be a deeper emotional issue involved there.

When I was a young kid, I was like that. Everything had to be arranged in an exact manner. Looking back I can't believe I was ever like that!. I will say a little prayer for her. I guess we all have some sort of quirk about us.

Okay- I'm watching the rerun now- and agree with the MO that $1,000 for a pair of shoes is ridiculous. That's the sale price too-- imagine what the original price was! I think a person can find a really good quality shoe for up to $100.00 at the most.

The black boots look good on her, though. Who cares if they weren't 100% pointed toe- they were tapered toed with a tapered non-chunky heel.

As for her hair and make-up , I think her new Look looks awesome! When some of you guys posted about how it aged her, I expected a boring 1980's bob with splotchy make-up. She looks older, but in a sexy sophisticated way- not like an Old Lady.

Oh well, that's my 2 cents worth!

Personally, I thought it was a great episode! The person that doesn't understand the puff sleeves must not have a pear shape. I understand why the MO did not spend on clothes -it is terribly frustrating to find clothing that balances a pear shape. It's not a shape that is front and center in the fashion world. It is very easy for a person with this body shape to veer off into "too big" and "matronly" because we will buy something that we think "disguises" our width at the bottom and buy the same size for the top (too big). I loved the episode - the "rules" were right on the mark. I picked up some great reminders. Thanks WNTW! As for the hair, Nick was right on the mark, too. The MO had a round face so the style was right. I work in a corporate setting, too - the second reason the hair was right. The third reason - it complimented her body shape. Loved the show.

i agree the MO looked fabulous in the new clothing, hair, and makeup. in the 'before', she gave off the impression of being very quiet, self-effacing, and dull. in the 'after', her new-found energy, presence, and confidence were quite apparent.

well done, WNTW!

I didn't mind the fact that Carey M. shopped at Old Navy (in fact, it was a bit refreshing to see S&C gush over a super-cheap shoe!).
I'm actually glad they addressed the issue of shopping in lower-priced stores since it's been discussed on the forums for ages.

However, one thing that I do feel was missing was the resistance and eccentricities that you often see in the more difficult MO's. That usually makes the episodes a bit more amusing and challenging for S&C. All in all, it was a pretty good episode. Not the most memorable, but helpful and entertaining nonetheless.

I only saw a little bit of this show. I was able to watch on and off while doing something else.

I did see that they were in Old Navy. All I ever read on this board is how people are so annoyed that they do not take people to places that are cheaper. And how they should cater to the people who are not rich, or who cannot afford to spend $300.00 on a skirt. (which would be me, BTW. But I caught on quickly how to interpret the rules whether I am in Macy's, or Walmart.)

SO where are those of you who complained that they needed to be more realistic in their shopping???

I did agree that the haircut looked pretty, but did age her.

I think it was a good show. I liked how open she was to suggestions, and it was a refreshing change to see them send her to some 'real people stores' like Old Navy. Nick did a superb job on her hair; that style really suits her, I think. Speaking of Nick, what on earth was the story with HIS hair?? They showed him coming into the building with an umbrella, so it was obviously raining, but his hair looked like he got drenched anyway! Either his hair was very wet or he needs a haircut, fast! I really like how Stacy is letting her grey streak show in her hair, too. And Carmindy wore a top that was more modest and looked great on her.

Enough already, I'm tired of the "old lady, matronly," etc etc comments. I'm 57, I watch WNTW regularly, I do not dress in printed puple polyester, nor do I wear my hear in an "easy bubble curly" short do. I work full time, have no grandchildren, do not knit or garden. I have a very busy life and love fashion. Please yall....some of us "old ladies" like to look cool too! I wish with all my heart that Stacey and Clinton would do a show on older women - so may of "us" look way too frumpy!
PS I hated the Clinton therapy show, and thought 12/8 was a little boring but way better!

I was wondering where they got her clothes & am thrilled they were in a store that most people have access to & it's not out of price range. I will look for the a-line denim skirtnow cos it wasn't $150. I thought her make over was great, she looked more fresh & alive & had a spark to her. I get a lot of my clothes from Wal-Mart, Macy's & Kohl's. I may have to try Old Navy now.

It's funny, what with the holidays and everything else I've been through the past few weeks, I don't remember anything except for the hanger fixation and the puffy sleeved jacket. And I recall that she was quite pretty to begin with.

I don't like puffy sleeves, so I guess I'm biased. They look terrible on me since I have broad shoulders. I understand why they'd look good on her pear shape, but there was something about them in that particular jacket that just didn't look good to me.

OK, I gotta say..I HATE Nick's hair this way! I didn't personally like it shaved, but this is SO not good either. When I saw him, I flashed back to the scene in "Coming to America" where they got up off the couch, and left hairstains on the fabric. It looks as though you could squeeze oil out of it! I love Nick, and good lord he does some AMAZING things with hair..But bless his heart, he needs to fix his own!
