I love What not to wear, Stacy and Clinton are Great. I am the manager of a clothing store and I use their advice everyday to help my customers find the clothes that fit their body type. I sell teenage clothes and clothes for middle aged women, and weather they are 16 or 50 I am able to help them go home happy with their purchases. I feel good when people ask me for help with their clothes. I have had people bring me pictures of themselves in their dresses that I helped them pick out to say thank-you, its a good feeling. I get smiles and waves from customers I've helped in my store, while i'm out grocery shopping. I have good style myself and yet they can still help me. Thank-You so much Stacy and Clinton.
What a nice story, Elysia! Do you manage a branch of a national chain, or a one-off privately owned shop?
It's great that you can put this to use for such a wide variety of customers. I'll bet you get a lot of repeat business from them. It sounds like you really enjoy your work, and love making people look their best, rather than just pushing stock on them.
That's good old-fashioned service at its best. Good for you! Last night I was at Macy's looking for a dress, and I would have given a lot for a trained and unbiased eye.
Well said, Sailingawayblues, I love good old-fashioned service as it's the way I try to treat people in my industry & so hard to come by these days. Elysia, KUDOS! Keep up the awesome work you do, and thank you for sharing your story; I hope it inspires others to take a cue from you not only fashion-wise, but in the way they perform their jobs in the service industry. It only proves not only the customer is happier but the employee as well! Thank you, again for your hard work and dedication!!
I am just a manager one store of a whole chain. I cant stand pushy sales people and i cant stand when I go into a store and I have a pile of clothes in my arms and nobody acknowledges me. My job is fun. besides reputation is everything for a business. Allot of people assume that working in clothing retail is a breeze, but not when you go there to actually work. I also sew in my spare time lol. That is so sweet Laurie, I worked in a restaraunt for 2 years and I am in a long time relationship with one of the regular customers too. The best ones are always right there infront of you.
