I've noticed on a few of the WNTW episodes that the guests had the most hideous pairs of glasses on. Now, my common sense says that if you are getting new clothes, shoes, hair, makeup, why in the world would you leave their crooked, outdated glasses on their faces?!? YUCK! I'm sure if someone from TLC contacted Lenscrafters or a similar company and asked them to provide new specs for the guests it would be a win win situation. Publicity for the company involved, and a new, stylish look for the guest. What do all you guys think? Yay or Nay? Let them know!!!

They did a MO a few years ago where they sent the girl to LensCrafters for a pair that looked better on her face. I forget her name but I think she lived in LA. Personally I get lots of compliments on my glasses because I take the time to pick frames that really work for my face. Contacts are a great option but you shouldn't be a slave to them, any more than a curly-haired woman should be a slave to her flat iron.

I've often thought that same thing, Dixie. Even if they just showed new lensless frames, it would be an improvement.
I liked Ted's straight do- along with the curly version, but when Ted first spun that chair, I looked at Teresa's glasses and thought, "It's Velma from Scooby-Doo!"
I agree that new frames would have really taken a good make-over and made it even better.

Wasn't she sans glasses in at least one of the reveals to S and C? So maybe she was giving contacts a go at least once in a while.
But glasses are a personal thing...some people just don't like contacts, and some people have reasons for liking their specs. Sometimes they can provide visual interest (no pun intended) or balance a longer face.
I didn't think Teresa's were particularly modern, but I also didn't think they looked bad at all.

Every one of the MO's that wear glasses look better without them. There was a time on WNTW that 1800Contacts donated contacts to the MOs.
As someone who had horrible vision for many years, I wore glasses, then contacts, then finally had LASIK done...this is just my opinion...
Very few women can look as pretty with glasses as they do without glasses - even pretty Sarah Palin looks better without her glasses...and many women can't look pretty with glasses on. That's my opinion (and many others' too!)
Glasses (even the non glare types) tend to make the eyes looks smaller (a definite negative!) and distract from a women's beauty.
Some may not like hearing this but...I can't tell you how many dateless women I've known that started getting more dates once they got rid of their glasses. That may make men seem "shallow," but again, most women are prettier without their glasses...and some women aren't pretty AT ALL UNTIL they get rid of their glasses (especially if their eyes are their best feature).
I have a dear friend who along with her two daughters wore glasses forever. They were all "ok" looking, but not the type that men would "look twice" at. I finally got up the courage to mention that they should get contacts. What a difference! My hubby mentioned that he never thought any of the 3 were good looking until they got contacts.
I have seen many young teen girls (who looked awkward with glasses), turn into beauties once they get contact lens.
I can honestly say that I have NEVER found that a woman looks "better" with glasses - ever. Instead, nearly 100% of the time, her beauty is compromised by the glasses.
While contacts may not be for everybody, there are so many different types available today, so if at one point, a woman had problems wearing them, she should have her eye doctor try some of the newer types. I chose LASIK because soft contacts (8 years ago) couldn't completely correct my astigmatism,so I always had to wear gas permeable hard lens. Fortunately, LASIK could correct my astigmatism. However, today, there probably are some soft lens that will correct astigmatism.

Gosh! I hope my man doesn't up and leave me because I wear glasses most days! I've seen many women who look better with glasses than without. Glasses can really help break up a full face or disguise a larger nose. Older women with fine wrinkles around their eyes can also get a break with an attractive frame... even better with a slight pink tint to the lenses.

I can't imagine any man leaving his wife because she wears glasses...that wasn't the point. Can you name one of the MOs that looked better with her glasses on? rather than when she had them off? I certainly can't. I still stand by my opinion...women usually look prettier (more beautiful) without their glasses on. Obviously, this doesn't mean that I think women look ugly with glasses on...it means that I think they look prettier without them. And, I think most men would agree that women look more "attractive" to them without glasses on.

I have terrible eyesight and have been wearing contacts since I entered high school because I hated my glasses and after wearing them all day I would often have awful headaches. However, I have found that wearing them at times is a bonus because they can set you apart from everyone else. I started experimenting last year wearing my glasses out to the bar for a night out with girlfriends (none of whom wore glasses) and being approached by more men than usual because I had a "different" look from everyone that I was with. It definitely made me feel more confident about wearing my glasses. Currently, I have been dating a wonderful guy for about 2 months and only about a week ago I took my contacts out and put on my glasses to watch a late night movie with him. It was the first time he has seen me wear glasses and he loves the look. I believe he described it as giving me that dorky but super hot sexy look, haha. I think that as long as a woman can project an air of confidence, wearing glasses is not going to make her look less attractive.

although I would prefer not to wear glasses, I cannot wear contacts. Unfortunately, my perscription is so expensive, by the time I have my lens and a cool pair of frames, that is all I can afford. The worst part is that my work dictates the style of my glasses... ie: color, or any type of embellishment is not allowed, so that leave little from which I can choose. I think it would be great if when they have someone w/ glasses that new glasses be part of the $5000 makeover money.

Um yeah, I am one of those who didn't like hearing your comment.
If you have a condition commonly known as dry eyes, you can't get LASIK and you probably have problems wearing contacts. Some people have no other alternative but to wear glasses, unless you'd prefer we just removed them and wandered off into traffic one day and got hit by a bus so you wouldn't have to trouble your mind with our tragic fate anymore.
Plenty of men think glasses are hot (have you heard of Tina Fey?) and I'm sorry, but I think the idea that you're going around preaching to others about how they're only "ok-looking" with glasses on is rude. You may think most men find women more attractive without glasses, but plenty of men don't care either way, and I stand by MY opinion that you're flat-out wrong.
You need to realize that not EVERYONE can go without glasses, and tone down your efforts to de-spectacle the world. Would you tell a woman who has a big scar or birthmark on her face that she'd look "better" without it? Perhaps you would. But I have a feeling you might not be perfect yourself and perhaps someday someone will write a lovely post about how YOUR so-called 'imperfection' makes you less attractive to men and then we'll see how you feel.

I asked my Eye Dr. who performs Lasik, didn't have it done. He replied "If the only thing I need to do to see well is put glasses on, that is all I am going to do." Even he believed the least medicine is the best. I'm really smart, so I wear glasses to show people that. They also cover those little creepy lines growing under my eyes. Look around. You can find some flattering spectacles.

LOL! I've just recently (this past year) have been telling myself when I get up in the morning and look in the mirror and then, put my glasses on and look again...that "I'm sooooo glad I wear glasses!" Lol! Seriously! I've worn them for 30 years and was indifferent to them either way but now....OMG - I'm so glad I have them 'cause they cover EVERYTHING. I have deep hollows under my eyes and a few crows feet too that are very very very well disguised under my glasses. If people think I look bad with them well, they sure don't want to see me without 'em! lol! I have 6 different pairs (same script, just different frames) and I like how I can look smart, cool, casual, funky, plain or formal with any pair. But covering those dark circles under my eyes is now definitely the BIGGEST benefit of all! In fact, if I woke up tomorrow and could see perfectly without them I'm pretty sure I would wear them anyway.
