I'm almost always disappointed with the Nick segment. More than one person looked worse after his haircut. A more creative hairdresser would improve the show. Obviously, he doesn't cut Stacy's hair or she'd have a bowl cut too.

Frankly, I don't know what kinds of haircuts all those "hate Nick" people would recommend instead of the ones he gives????

Instead of just criticizing, why don't you say, "xxxx's hair should have been cut in _______ style, such as "hyperlink". Then, if your hyperlinked style would be a better choice for that person's hair and lifestyle, your criticisms would have some credibility. Until then.... some of you sound like whiners who can't come up with a better idea.

I'm not usually that way but puhleeze, some of the people around here are just incredible!! I kept my mouth shut when I was a regular here but I finally just had to get it off my chest.

Oh and BTW, I think her snooty/stuck-up "perhaps you don't mind stupidity but some of us have higher standards" remark warranted such a comeback. Sorry but that was just uncalled for. I think some of the regulars around here have forgotten how to have a decent discussion without cutting other people down. So don't get on me, get on her if you want to get on someone for not being a "sunshine". I was just giving her back her own medicine.

The 'incredible', 'picky, know-it-all, diva/beeyotches', as you so elegantly state it, happen to be the ones you most often make common cause with. The ones who ridicule and carp when someone happens to have an opinion or preference that doesn't happen to jive with what they boss and bully people into doing.

The ones who have to try to make everyone over in their own image.

Puhleeze, as you so brilliantly said it.

I really have no idea what you're on about this time as I haven't been here in quite some time so what I or anyone "usually" does here is lost on me, but what I do have to say is that someone who is in your field and working in academia should know that the word is "jibe", not "jive", unless you're referring to a type of slang language or a variety of dance.

Ah. You've just put yourself in the category of the picky, know-it-all, etc. folks by doing such a snide thing.

You know exactly all the kissy-faces I'm talking about who are so pleased to see you back.

Naah, I'm just giving you a little bit of your own medicine, that's all. I'm sure all the so-called "kissy faces" just looooove you, lol. It's curious how that's the way you see some of the nicer people on this board.

Everybody has a right to their opinion, and this is what the message boards are all about, right? As for myself, I know that it was hard to find someone who cut my fine, straight hair so it would look fuller, stylish, and age-appropriate. From watching Nick cut hair on the TV screen, we cannot tell the actual weight and texture of the MO's hair. I personally would not want bangs that constantly fall into my eyes, as Nick often cuts it, but I see a lot of younger people who don't seem to mind it. I have seen some MO's, after their cut, pushing their hair back out of the way, but as somebody said earlier in this forum, hair grows back, and you can change your style later if you don't like the first style you have.

I think it would be fun to work with Nick, as he seems like a genuinely nice person, but I would make it clear that I didn't want hair hanging in my face. Other than that, he'd have freedom. I don't think he gets too aggressive unless it's a totally hip MO, and there have been a few of those.... Smile

well i am 22, and i've been watching this show since it came on the air, back with the old guy host before clinton. i have to say that i absolutely love nick, and have only been disappointed once or twice with his haircuts.

that being said, i would never want hair hanging in my eyes. i personally would love to have nick do my hair, i have really wavy hair that falls down just past my bra-line in the back. it's tough to manage but i look terrible with really short hair (as an athlete i have broader shoulders that i'm self-conscious of). really the crowning glory of it is my monster, devious, evil cowlick that ruins all hairstyles. i wish nick would come and fix it lol.

I don't watch the show all the time. I occasionall y tune in. I actually never saw this message board before and was reading and couldn't believe how anyone who said anything negative about the show was pounced on. I just had to sign in and reply to some of these posts.

I love Nick and the hair segment is actually my favorite part of the show (I can't wait till Bravo's stylist competition comes back!). Nick is amazing -- a stellar colorist and stylist. I think sometimes he's limited by what the MO will be okay with and the condition of their hair. A lot of people are really hard on their hair or completely unwilling to do anything with it.

I wish the show would have a contest to win a cut by Nick -- I would love to win!

There only so many face shapes. Nick can only do so much. The MO's don't get regular haircuts and abuse their hair. I think Nick's strength is in coloring hair and making it look like healthy hair. From personal experience, I know that you have to make a drastic change to get your hair to appear healthy. Nick is not going anywhere, so we must move on to another subject.

Geez Louise... enough with the Nick bashing already. Some like him, some don't. We get it. Personally, I would appreciate it if, other than just saying "I hate what he did," people would offer suggestions as to what would be better. A positive spin on things is always more interesting than just negative gritching. Smile

I agree. Instead of saying you don’t like a cut and bashing Nick, tell us why, offer some specifics! Otherwise I refuse to take you for anything but a jealous hair-stylist wannabe (and it’s amazing how many of those there seem to be).
I’m male, and no fashionista, but 85 percent of the women look better, 5 percent don’t let him cut their hair, and 10 percent could be up for debate, a great ratio.
And as for him doing mostly short cuts, I’d say 90 percent of the women who come to him with long hair...it just doesn’t look very good.

The reason that MO's are chosen is generally due to the fact that they do not know how to dress themselves, take care of their hair or wear makeup. 99% of them look better after they have been to WNTW. Nick is just part of the process. I wish I would have the opportunity to have him take a look at my hair. Unfortunately, I live on the West Coast and cannot afford a trip to NYC.

Wow! I can't believe all of the hate mail Nick is getting! I really like him, and think that he's a great artist! He really seems to care about what look is good on each individual person, and I'm not really sure what he did to the people that are giving such strong hate messages on this site. I REALLY like Nick, and that's all I have to say!

I think Nick is amazing, so many people are attached to their hair for emotional reasons and it ends up looking aweful, some guy probably told them they looked good with long hair or that women have to have long hair. He is so good at taking into consideration the needs and wants of every person and creating a style/color/cut that is best for them. I have yet to see (with the exception of one woman with incredibly long hair who wouldn't let Nick touch it) a single person on this show who has a better "before" hair style than their "after".

He must have a secure client base or he wouldn't be on the show, but I agree that he tends to do the same style over and over. He tends to make some of the younger women look a tad older. There was one younger punk rock woman who he told "I'm going to do something really edgy that you are going to love" And he gave her the same modified bob haircut but dyed some brigt red streaks underneath her brown hair. I thought wait a minute. What makes this edgy. You could tell that she was less than thrilled with the results.

Two very recent makeovers have posted here, and they said that Nick meets with them before they ever film the segment where he does their hair, and talks to them and finds out what their lifestyle is, how much time they have to fool with their hair, etc. I agree, he does a lot of bobs, but bobs are really hot right now thanks to Katie Holmes, and also, if a makeover with children and/or a job gets an edgy, modern style or whatever you think he should give them that requires more time than they have or want to spend styling it, how is that any better than the bob he gives her? The makeover is the one who is getting the haircut and whose opinion should matter, not ours.

If the people who consistently bash Nick posted pictures of their own hair, or what their idea of a good haircut is, it would tell the whole story. We would probably see the most horrific collection of horse tail mains imaginable. Nick is a GREAT hair stylist and he's not going anywhere so sit back and deal with it.

Well ladies you'll be happy to know that Nick Arrojo was fired from the show last week! I heard it from a friend who gets her haircut at the salon and she was there on Saturday and all the haircutters were talking about it. They hired Ted Gibson in his place. So hopefully now the hair segment will improve!!!!

Wow, well it's good to know that at least someone is listening here. Not sure that it seems to be headed in a much better direction if they're still trying to aim for a "name" to be the hair portion of the show.

I much preferred the UK WNTW mode of an invisible stylist which allowed them to use any number of people on hair. And since it wasn't a solid job, no one ever got complacent and the styles were consistently pushing the forward.

My one hope is that whomever takes over aims to teach some styling tips and tricks. A scissors isn't always essential to changing one's look!

Who died and made you queen/king of the message boards or are you a preacher?

Or maybe you'll just annoy the daylights out of everyone who has had to read this conversation 1,859 times.

No one cares what you or I or anyone else on this forum thinks. All they care about--and all they SHOULD care about--is what the MO's think. I would say at least 80% of the time, they are happy, and I'm being rather generous about that. I can't believe there are so many people here who are self-absorbed enough to think that their opinions matter enough to get a man fired from his job. If he wasn't a good hairdresser, people would not pay $500 a pop to see him. He would not own his own studio. If he's not to your liking, then don't go to him. Change the channel during his segment. Just PLEASE stop whining. Couldn't you guys have just latched on to an already existing thread? Why do you have to start the same conversation, almost verbatim, EVERY WEEK? Do you think it's because you're all "right?" Do you think it's because he's just so bad that it warrants all your vitriol and protest? Give me a break. The louder you scream, the more annoying you are. That's the only result of this conversation. Every week people whine, and every week Nick comes back. GIVE UP ALREADY. Or if you want to keep complaining, email Discovery or TLC directly. But you won't get anywhere here. And if you did, would you really feel good about it? Would you be happy getting him fired? And what happens when the new hair stylist comes and a whole new crop of people show up to discuss how much THEY all hate his work?

FYI--not that this will likely have an impact on your opinion--Nick consults with each MO days before the actual haircut and they agree on what to do. You have no idea what happens during that conversation, so I reiterate: your opinion does not matter. Mine does not either, which is why I have not stated it here. Change the channel or stop watching, but for pete's sake, stop complaining.

I'm sorry but I have no qualms about being rude anymore. This is getting ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is that you actually let what other people write upset you. Perhaps you need to work on that. I had thought a few times about writing a comment but didn't want to come off like a jerk, well putting people down because of their opinions which DO matter, they matter a lot. Do you work in Television? I do, AND I've done hair as a side biz for twenty years, the cuts Nick gives are "basic" cuts taught in training, when you really have nowhere to go with their hair and 9 times out of 10........ he does.

oh, BTW, Nick got fired.

So much for opinions huh?

I will say this. I think most people are really down deep good people, loving, caring and wanting to do the right thing. And in this case?

Nick needs to be replaced!!!!! Oh, What was that you said?

He is fired?? And being replaced by Ted Gibson? Wow, he's really amazing as a hair dresser, making women look sexy, not dowdy, I mean how depressing. You go, do all this shopping, your look, and you think you'll ocme home feeling like a model. I mean Carmindy is clearly getting the gist of how a woman should dress and look, though her makeup wow, heavy. but why not show them their most beautiful ever, not all the way home crying.
So for the last time from me, Nick isn't all that, and Ted Gibson is sure to change some things around there, I'm quite happy now.

I'm so thrilled that you're happy. But many of us are not and enjoy Nick's presence on the show. I suppose as long as you and the other Nick bashers are though is the only thing that matters...

Well I have to give my two cents here. For what its worth.

For the most part, I did not like Nicks hair styles. But there were times when I thought, wow, what a difference. That looks pretty good. Especially for working, don't have a lot of time for my hair, moms.

I never saw him use a curling iron though??

It will be interesting to see what this new guy has to offer if the rumors are true.

Thank you for pointing this out and I agree totally...it doesn't really matter what the viewers think, what's important is if the mo is happy at the end of the show.

The Nick whiners always remind me of the folks on the QVC boards that whine about the hosts. The QVC host bashers can't vote them off anymore than the Nick whiners because 1) you didn't hire them, therefore 2) you can't fire them.

I agree with you, Lindsay1. I don't think Nick really takes into consideration what the person likes or even what will look good. I think he cuts a lot of ladies' hair too short, just to cut something. I watch the show all the time and it's literally once in a blue moon when I think the hair style even looks decent. Most of the time it looks awful.
