Why was that show even aired? i just can't believe that she entered herself and she wouldn't cut her hair! thats part of the whole show - i think that they should have made her return all of her clothes and send her back to where she came from it was rediculos and a waste of the show - not to mention a waste of time to a mster like nick. please TLC never ever put an episode on like that again!!!!
[QUOTE]Originally posted by madison63: I go to an Pentecost church and A LOT of them have really long hair and don't cut it but it does not look like a hair ball at the ends either. If Lynn liked her hair long, then why did she let the ends go to the dogs. I am not buying it. If you noticed the way Nick held up her hair. It looked worse then it really was. You don't think that she ever cuts her hair.. Im sure she goes and gets it trimed. Otherwise her hair would have been alot longer. Think about it people.. You only want to see what you believe. I know alot of people who go to a pentecost church as well.. They DON'T cut it. IF you look at the ends it looks alot worse then what Lynns did.
Actually, hair WILL stop getting longer at a certain point if you don't trim it. When the ends dry out and split, it breaks off. Your hair doesn't stop growing, but the ends snap off and give the illusion that it has stopped growing. Your daily activities, or brushing it or sleep on it when it's wet...will determing WHERE it breaks off, so Lynn's length is not necessarily an indication of whether or not she ever trims it.
Some people who want long hair, refuse to trim it even if it IS broken off at the ends, because they don't want to lose the length. They don't realize that it's NOT pretty if it's dead and fuzzy. Maybe she watched her episode, and saw herself from the viewers point of view. Maybe she didn't realize just how bad it was, until she saw the show?
It doesn't bother me when an MO resists Nick on the haircut. I understand why that would be too large a step for some, but I have a feeling Lynn was just being contrary.
All hair is dead - that's why it doesn't hurt to cut it. The idea is to try not to have it look dead. Lynn's hair looked dead. She passed up a great opportunity to have Nick cut her hair. She kept saying that her hair is "who she is" which will put her is a tough spot if she ever has to have chemotherapy and experience being bald. Many women have gone through this and they are still themselves even if they have no hair. Lynn is way too invested in her hair. She should focus on inner qualities that are really who she is.
Another problem with long Rapunzel-length hair is that it looks juvenile. It may work on Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm but not for a grown-up woman. Nothing looks more ridiculous than an obviously over-30 woman with hair like a girl's. It does not go with wrinkles and actually makes the wearer look older. It is the equivalent of a middle-aged woman in hot pants and a belly top. Also, if Lynn ever wants to get a higher-paying job, that hair will have to go - it does not look professional. She was very foolish not to take the chance to see how she would look with a hairdo from a top stylist. She could have grown it back if she wanted.
Ok,to the person up top quoting the Bible...it does say that, however, she had no problem taking the $5K and buying new clothes to cover her...beliefs are good in the proper perspective, but I find her a little hypocritical ... it is a shame the viewers some needing advice did not get the full deal...and as a lot of others have said...she nominated herself!
I thought that the episode was a complete waste of everybody's time. First off, I didn't like her attitude and the sullen look that she carried around for what seemed like 24/7. I think that for someone who is nominating themselves for a makeover - she didn't just need an overhaul, she needed a serious attitude adjustment. I mean, really, I could probably count on one hand how many times she actually smiled and didn't seem like she didn't want to be there and participate fully in the whole makeover. And the whole hair issue - that just drove me bonkers.
I mean, not willing to budge on the hair, stating that it's her beliefs that she wouldn't cut it? I don't think that Nick was being too harsh in saying "if you're not going to let me cut it, I'm not going to style it either".
the whole point to the show is to give yourself over, so you can fix your fashion faux-pas and look amazing afterwards. What completely bothered me about the episode was that she nominated herself!!!!yet she didn't want to play by their rules.
HI all! I'm in full agreement about her attitude. How unpleasant! And the hair thing -was she trying to prove something or make some sort of statement? Perhaps she just wanted to be on TV, get a trip to NY, or just get the clothing. Also, in regards to religion, she did not state that her 'beliefs' had anything to do with religion or anything written in the Bible. I'm a big time Bible thumper myself (a "J" freak, if you will) and the "J" man was never quoted as stating anything regarding hair and religion. My mother, who is NOT a woman of faith, BELIEVES the same as Lynn - my mother's 'beliefs' are that a woman MUST have long hair and wear a TON of make-up in order to be considered 'feminine.' I have short hair and wear make-up but not TONS (unless it's a night out) and I'm VERY feminine. So Lynn's belief could just be something ingrained from childhood and NOT have anything to do with religion. Let's hope that's the case.
I could not believe this episode! I think Lynn was a pure fraud; because she nominated herself, she obviously knows the format of the show, and what happens, and she was only willing to participate in 1/3 of it. I felt bad for Nick, because he didn't get to work his magic on that boring head of hair; she completely wasted his time. Apparently, all she was after was that $5,000 worth of new clothes. Even after Carmindy made her look better, her reaction was so flat. Don't the applicants who are chosen have to sign something where they agree to clothes, hair, and makeup? I guess not, because as Nick said, she could have all those new clothes, but her hair didn't change at all, so she wouldn't look at good as she could. I have all the respect in the world for other people's beliefs, but again, as Nick said to Carmindy, she cheated the audience out of the hair transformation, and for a lot of people, that's the most fun part of all to watch!

I do not know Lynn personally; however, I did have contact with her before her show aired via this site as well as her blog site where she talked about her WNTW ambush. I also left a message for her which she responded to after the show aired. Although I do not agree with her decision to not allow Nick to cut her hair, she was pretty adamant from the get go that she wanted to keep her hair length - just learn to do different things with it. It is my belief (and I am pretty good judge of character) that she never intended to scam anyone. She stated on her blog that she agree to back out of the show but that the producers insisted they wanted to go ahead with the show. I do believe the statements she makes. I had hoped that she would post her story on the board but I think there has been such a negative response to her that I do not see it happening. Sometimes you have to keep an open mind as we do not see everything that happens on the show and also not everyone is "star" material and may seem unlikeable when they make actually be stressed or shy. Most of the makeovers will tell you that plenty is cut out. If she misled the show, the show would not have gone on. I think it is time to stop "crucifying" Lynn and hopefully she will decide to post and give people a better understanding.
well it's a shame then that the producers insisted on going ahead, because it just made her look like she had a really bad attitude.
while I realize that you don't see everything that goes on: she really shouldn't have nominated herself in the first place if she knew she wasn't ready for an entire transformation, which includes a haircut. She's obviously seen the show, she knows what they do. Even the staunchest fashion victim with long hair has at least had it trimmed, nothing drastic. If she wasn't even prepared for that, she shouldn't have nominated herself
And if she had been particularly adamant about not getting her hair cut, she could've been more adamant about not committing to the show and backing out if she wasn't willing to participate in it fully. Nobody was holding a gun to her head.
Hey, all we viewers know is what we see, and from the looks of it, plenty of us thought it was a crappy episode, and that Lynn acted terribly. There are always two sides to everything, but TLC didn't explain anything, any reasons for Lynn's behavior, etc., so the final product is all we have to go by.
I would actually like to see the episode again because there were so many things people commented on that I just never saw. I thought her attitude was receptive to wearing new clothes. She did state in her blog that a big part of her keeping the sweatshirts was cut-out. She was keeping one that was from a family reunion and I forget why the other one but she was filmed saying good-bye to them. I also think even though it may have been noble of her to agree to back out TLC had already invested time and money into her makeover and it was in everyones best interests to make the most of it and go forward. I definitely agree she was too closed minded about her hair especially since she wore in up most of time. However, if you remember they show her being shown video tapes of other make over participants who had been resistant to getting their hair cut in attempts to motivate her where it may have made her feel more threatened. In the end, I think she looked good. She did state on her blog that she was making changes with her clothes and appearance. I guess since I did have some (very limited and distant) contact with her before and after the show, I saw her in a different light. It is really interesting to see how different people can watch the same show and have so many different points of view. What I think would be really interesting would be to see a whole uncut episode to be able to see what goes on behind the scenes etc. I wish she and more of the other makeovers would tell their story about the show. And I wish they would put post the makeovers and shopping lists again!

I get really tired of comments like this. All my life I heard it from my mother who, by the way, always had one of those huge doos piled up on her head making her look older than what she was. I'm 46 and have hair almost to my behind. No one believes me when I tell them my age. They all think I'm younger than what I am-not older. More than once I've been mistaken for the older sister of my three grown children who are all in their 20s.
I keep the dead ends trimmed off so it doesn't look raggedy. I've done the short styles and being a size 16, they make my face look even fatter than what it is. I hate the way I look with short hair. I have a nice rich brown color which has gotten me a lot of compliments. Many have even played in my hair which doesn't bother me in the least. I like being different from others my age and with the way society thinks, my long hair more than does that.
Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to who thinks this episode was lame and boring... She didn't seem very grateful to have had the experience. It's not like someone had to talk her into this; she nominated herself and knew up front what she was getting into and what the rules were. I would love to have had Nick work his magic on my locks!!!!!
I dont think so I think Nick has a broad knowledge to hair styling, if not he wouldnt be there. Shee did need to give it some style without taking out to much. She has no movement or body in it and by cutting a bit off it would have ragained a healthier movement to it its not about going drastic on these cuts its about giving the people a style that fits the personality and a new line of clothes I think he takes it easy considering that these folks have no sense of style.

I have never cut my hair. I am 20 years old and MY hair is not lymp, stringy,or dead. Her hair was gorgeous. I am upset with NICK'S impression that everybody has to have shoulder length hair to pretty. BULL HOCKY! She was beautiful with her long hair. Nick needs to learn how to be a hair stylist instead of a barber, who wants to wack on everybody's hair. If Nick was as good as what he thinks he is, he would have gotten a few bobby pins(he probably doesn't even know what one is), hair spray, and a curling iron and done amazing stuff with all of her hair. Another thing, it's not like she didn't want anything done to her hair, she asked Nick to help her and he was to wrapped up in his SHORT HAIR world to even realize how much potiental she had!!!!! After tonight I don't know if I will ever watch it again. Goes to show what most people think about women with long hair.
If Nick were somewhat more "open" to listening to the candidate's views of how they like and do not like their hair, I would appreciate the hair segment much better. Nick just cuts everyone's hair short, regardless of the individual's preference. Some, in my opinion, looked better with a their hair a bit longer. Nick appears to have one or two styles he does for everyone. I would like to see more "stylish, up-to-date long cuts like what Stacy London wears.
As a lifelong hairdresser and someone who has personally had everything from ultra-short to ultra-long hair, I was dissappointed in Nick. There is more to being a hairdresser than cutting hair. He could have colored it and shown her some amazing styling tips. Being a hairdresser is about making your client FEEL (not necessarily look) their best, not about getting what YOU want.
The impression I got at the end of the show was that all she really wanted was the $5,000. She nominated herself and acted annoyed when she was given suggestions on how to improve her style...especially the hair and makeup.
A 46 year old woman with hair down to her behind looking younger? I would have to see that. This would be a good case for "10 Years Younger" to find out how old the average joe thinks she is.
Lynn came off as a fraud who was just after the $5000 and it was because SHE, no one else, refused to participate fully. Why should Nick waste his time trying to make her mop look presentable. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I think we would be surprised to find out that the general public would think a fair amount of the MO's on WNTW look younger before their makeovers than after. People see certain features as more indicative of youth or age, and hair is probably one of the biggest influencing factors. It also depends on who's doing the looking. Men often think longer hair makes a woman look sexier and younger even when most other women would think it makes her look ridiculous. The same holds true for "hoochi" clothing. A lot of guys would think Tracy the barmaid looked hot and younger because of the revealing clothing she wore than she looked after her makeover. But age is not the point. The point is looking tasteful and I just don't think it looks tasteful to dress like a 16 year old when you're over 30.
After rejecting the opportunity to have her hair cut, Lynn went on to the makeup stage of the segment and when asked about her use of makeup she said "I like the natural look". Can someone tell her that hair is NOT natural. ...

I just saw this episode, what a DISAPPOINTMENT! If her "personal reasons" don't allow her to cut her her hair or wear makeup, then stand aside and let another person be on the show that is a WILLING PARTICIPANT. On top of that she nominated herself, unbelievable. She could have donated all that hair to Locks of Love and given someone with cancer a beautiful wig. What a waste of an hour of my time!
I absolutly agree with mmhinfla1. I just wasted an hour watching this episode. I really thought she was going to cut her hair and look better. I wish they never show this episode again. What a disappointment.
I was appalled that Lynn nominated herself for this show and then refused to do two of the main areas of the show--the hair and makeup routine. She took this spot from what the show termed as "hundreds" of other women who would have loved to have the opportunity for a new $5,000 wardrobe, expert advice from Clinton and Stacey and the magical transformations of Nick and Carmindy. She knew exactly what this show was about and if her religious convictions were in conflict with any part of the show--then she shouldn't have nominated herself. I noticed that taking the $5,000 and then refusing to follow through with the format and rules of the show didn't stir up any religious conflicts or challenges of conscience.
If she had such strong religious convictions about being "natural" then she should have never applied to the show or at least declined being on the show when she was selected.
I hope that the producers of this show check out their candidates more thoroughly in the future because if this type of guest continues to be on the show--I believe it will have a negative effect on their viewership. And rightfully so!
Does anyone else believe that the new wardrobe will not be utilized either? What a waste!

I disagree with this quote because the whole point in the show is to improve the way the participants LOOK. The way they feel is just as important, but she was closed minded to the cut and probably would have ditched the idea of color as well. I wouldn't want my hairdresser to just give me any style I wanted without honestly informing me as to what looks best for my face and body shape. Why wouldn't you want you clients to look their best? In regards to the show I was disappointed as well, and listening to some of the ignorant comments posted by the viewers didn't help. I can’t believe that people don’t understand that we (as viewers) are upset because if they are like me they love fashion and beauty and love to see these people lives change because of things as simple as new clothes, hair and makeup. We are upset because she could have had a better experience if she hadn’t have been so uptight.
I am HIGHLY disapointed. I am almost 6'2" and I completley understand about the difficulty of finding clothes that fit correctly so I give her props for trying to find appropraite clothing for her figure.
But if she chose to NOMINATE HERSELF to get help, then she needs to dive in and go for it with EVERY aspect of the makeover. Nick woudln't have cut her hair too short b/c I have had my hair short and it looks funny when compaired to a tall frame. People would kill to have this man cut their hair and as unhealthy and unflattering as her hair was, she should have let him. If she didn't like it, IT'S HAIR SWEETHEART. It will grow back!!!!!!!!
I too, was very disappointed with this episode. I couldn't believe that she wouldn't cut her hair. As its already been said so eloquently, hair is already dead, AND it grows back people!! That's why we can try new things every once in a while and experiment with new looks. I have a friend just like this who refuses to cut her bum length hair. Frankly, it looks ridiculous on anyone over the age of 15. It's NEVER out of a braid, so, what's the point? Lastly, when you go on a show like this, I agree with the VAST majority of people here, that she should have been open to the whole package, and not be so uptight.
Honestly, she seemed to have a very negative attitude the entire show. If you are not willing to change at all other than the clothes, and are so close minded, then why in the heck would you bother going on that show? She was so rude to all of them that it was just sickening. Her hair was not beautiful, it was damaged disgusting and needed to be cut. When she wore it down it looked like a massive curtain of hair and was weighing her down visually. Instead of being grateful for thier advice and help, all she could do was make spiteful rude comments constantly and act as though she had been forced onto the show. Instead of listening to thier advice and letting them do thier work, she taunted them, and acted like a pouty whiney 4 year old. Someone needs to tell her to stop acting like the children she babysits and grow up already. Her attitude is what made me the most angry. Completely and totally ungrateful.
This episode continues to amaze me. It's almost three months old, and yet people continue to rant on about her everytime the repeats play. It's intriguing.
Lynn never expressed any religious reasons why she didn't want her hair, cut, and I'm sure if she had, the producers and editors would have included it in the footage to explain her attitude.
Lynn always comes across as a fraud after nominating herself.
I finally saw this episode yesterday. I personally think the show had already invested too much production time to scrub it when the hair thing came up, and they salvaged as best they could.
Lynn broke the spirit of the show -- reluctance is one thing, but refusal is another. And she nominated herself?
TLC should have cut (unlike some people) their losses and dumped this episode.
you guys are seriously mental. It doesn't matter if she's pentacostal or not - if she likes her long hair, then she should keep it, the end. and Nick's a pouty little drama queen for refusing to do anything to it if he wasn't allowed to butcher it. There's plenty he could have done with all that hair, and I was extremely disappointed with his narrow-mindedness and utter lack of creativity. if she'd been in my chair, she would have stood up with a shiny head of hair with hand-painted highlights that would have been like art.
what all you robots don't seem to understand is that only uncreative sheep follow every single fashion rule slavishly. Moses didn't come down off the mountain and say, "thou shalt chop off your hair after you turn 30 because you're not allowed to have long hair any more, you old bag. straight from God, dude. Get the scissors, and mourn thy youth." if she wanted to keep her long hair, Nick should have found out what she could accept instead of having a snit. He came off looking bad, not her.
it is better to fail at originality than to succeed at imitating the crowd - and nowhere is that more true than in fashion.

Personally I dont think anyone is upset because she wanted her hair left long.I think the point is that she nominated herself so she should have been willing to participate in the entire show...not just the new clothes part. Also wouldnt you as a proffesional hairstylist recomend she at least cut off the dead ends and maybe give her hair some shape at least? I dont see how Nick acted rude or whiny at all.His work is a example of his talent. In the same way a well known, respected clothing designer wouldnt put out a less then perfect article of clothing, he didnt want to put out a half done hairstyle. Also I have asked this question a few times as I myself had hair down to my but many years ago..........What kind of style other then braids, ponytail or a bun could he have done? hair that long in my opnion wouldnt hold a curl very well.
I'm another viewer to add to the "very disappointed in this episode" list. I've read several posts defending Lynn's position to not cut her hair. I agree that Lynn has the right to keep her hair how she wants it. She does. It's her hair, and while I personally didn't think her hair was attractive, if she likes it...and it makes her feel good about herself..then so be it.
My issue isn't with Lynn not cutting her hair. My issue is with Lynn being on the show as a self-nominated participant. She wasn't set up...she NOMINATED herself. One has to question why she would nominate herself for a show that clearly is about clothes, makeup & HAIR CUTTING. If you don't want a hair cut, for goodness sake...don't go on the show. The show isn't just about the clothes.
There are so many people that would love to have Nick work his magic on their hair...me included. I hope the show will do a better job in the future of screening their participants. If a participant won't sign a contract agreeing to possible hair or make up changes, then please don't select them for the show. There's plenty of people out there that WILL agree. As a viewer, I won't stick around long if there are many more shows where the participant refuses to change. It's just not as much fun to watch without the hair change.
Originally posted by corsetier: you guys are seriously mental. It doesn't matter if she's pentacostal or not - if she likes her long hair, then she should keep it, the end.
I disagree with you. The whole point of the show is about change. If you have a TV show about changing aspects of people's lives, and a fan of the show likes it enough that she nominates herself, the fan should be a sport and go along with the central theme of the show: change. It's just bad TV to have a makeover show and air people who refuse to participate.
She wants to keep her hair like it is? Fine. She should practice what she preaches and not nominate herself for makeover shows. A show like this should be fun for the participants and the viewers. I'll bet you anything TLC will be screening applicants closer to avoid episodes like this one.
I finally got to see the last half of this show that you all have been talking about.
I am not going to be mean to her, it's her hair, and she has the right to keep it how she wants. However, I agree with a lot of the other posters here. She nominated herself, to change clothes, makeup, and hair. She should be more open to change. Also, I didn't see a really bad attitude from her about her transformation, but she didn't seem that thrilled about it, either. Maybe that's just the way she is, I don't know.
Also, I thought Nick was very professional about the whole thing. He didn't seem rude at all. I would have liked to see him at least style it, but as was mentioned already, to what style? Not a whole lot except up in a bun, braid, or down.
I was also disappointed when Lynn said she wasn't going to do the makeup look again. I thought the makeup looked great on her, but really didn't match the lack of hairstyle. I think it would have been better to go with a more simple, natural makeup routine. Then, maybe she would have been more open to doing it again in the future. I feel like we got cheated a little on this show. Again, she nominated herself for a change. This isn't a show about a one-time change, it's supposed to be a change that you go home and try to maintain.
...I was dissappointed in Nick. There is more to being a hairdresser than cutting hair. He could have colored it and shown her some amazing styling tips...
Oh please! If Lynn wouldn't let Nick cut her hair, what makes you think she'd let him color it! Good grief, that's an even bigger jump! I just thought she was a spoiled, stubborn brat who had no right to accept the $5,000 worth of clothes if she didn't intend to participate in the rest of the show. She nominated herself, so she knew the drill. Nick was very gentle with her and went out of his way to show her the tapes of other ladies who were frightened to let him cut their hair. I'm sure he gets that all the time, and he handles it well. One of her friends even said they hoped Lynn got her hair cut, so other people must think she needs to, also! If you remember, Stacy and Clinton were getting exasperated with how she acted. Clinton even made a comment about her lack of enthusiasm. Unless TLC just aired it to see what feedback the message board got, I can't believe they'd even waste their time on someone like Lynn, who obviously couldn't have cared less. Give that $5,000 to someone who would have truly enjoyed the experience and appreciated being fussed over by four very good teachers.
Personally I don't blame Lynn for not letting Nick cut her hair. Not everyone enjoys having a short, choppy do and looking like everyone else. He could've given her some highlights or something, and as far as I could tell, he did not offer to, he just wanted to cut. As an experienced stylist he should've been able to work something up. Cutting 12" of hair off was not necessary to do this makeover imo. I like many of Nick's haircuts, but major cutting is not always the answer.
Her hair is part of her style and she's happy with it. Why should she get rid of something she loves?
Because it looks nasty and ratty - when the middle of your ends hangs down longer than the rest of your hair, that's because the rest of your hair is DEAD AND HAS STOPPED GROWING!!!
Nick never said ANYTHING about making her hair short, he wanted to cut it to give it style ... check out the videos of the other women he showed ... he didn't make any of their hair short either ... I'm starting to think that most of you don't know the difference between short, medium and long length hair. Short is anything from mid-neck and up. Medium is mid neck down to the middle of your shoulder blades. Anything from your shoulder blades and longer is LONG!!! Personally, I have hair that is almost as long as Lynn's (about mid-bottom)... however, I will soon be cutting it and donating it to Locks of Love. If I could afford to get Nick to cut it for me, I would!
And I really doubt that Lynn would have let Nick color or highlight her hair. She wanted to have nothing to do with the hair and makeup part, all she wanted was the free clothes. And I'll bet that they were either returned to the store, or sold on Ebay.
Because it looks nasty and ratty - when the middle of your ends hangs down longer than the rest of your hair, that's because the rest of your hair is DEAD AND HAS STOPPED GROWING!!!
Well that's your opinion. I thought it looked fine, she just needed a little trim maybe. He wanted to cut it up to her chest, which is quite a chunk of hair for one who is used to wearing their hair long. Oh, an ALL hair is dead no matter how short or long.
You are making assumptions that Lynn did not want highlights. Maybe I missed something, but I do not recall seeing Nick make the offer. He only wanted to cut. She was a tall girl and seemed to need help finding stylish clothes for her height. That's probably why she nominated herself, so I highly doubt she got rid of the clothes.
okay, I've never had highlites before, but I'm going to go out on a limb here for arguments sake and assume that you don't just highlite the hair that's closest to the scalp, when you do highlights you do entire strands, correct?
If that's the case - why on earth would Nick want to highlight tons of already damaged and ratty hair? It would be a grand waste of time. Normally, he does the a rough cut to get rid of the excess stuff that would be a waste in colouring, and then goes in and refines it afterwards.
huge waste of time for nick to be colouring crappy hair that she won't even let him take a scissor to in an effort to cut off the dead frayed ends. Again, I don't blame him for not touching her hair, and even if she wanted highlights, I wouldn't blame him for saying nope.
Amen to the Crystal Gayle comment! Let us not forget that the woman nominated HERSELF!!!!! this being said do we need to remind people before they go and do such silly things that this is a MAKEOVER show NOT may I please have 5 thousand dollars of someone else"s money to spend as I see fit and be COMPLETELY beligerant about what would so immensely change my appearance. The fact is that "beliefs"or not the woman is not Samson, and the world will not fall apart if she loses a foot or two of hair. She is an amazingly tall woman, the sheer wall that that hair creates is so daunting. Does she not realize that by removing some of the bulk it would make her look more gentle and possibly approachable? Again my frustation lies in the fact that she nominated herself, so clearly that suggests that she knowingly went into this being unwilling to change. Money and time poorly spent.Too bad I've seen some fantastic changes occur in some of the participants!
becky-jo...yup, I think most of the posters on here who have a problem with Lynn and being unwilling to cut her hair are mainly of the opinion: No fair - self-nomination means you want a complete overhaul. You essentially took the wardrobe and run without giving yourself over.
I for one was completely disappointed with this episode and I found her to be rude, sulky and had just a little too much of a bad attitude for my taste.
This might make me unpopular, but so be it - there ARE things that can be done to style ultra-long hair (they've been doing it for centuries, after all.) There are myriad variations of braids, twists, buns, etc. Here are some pics: Braided Images
But there aren't many hairdressers who know how to do them, and evidently Nick is one who doesn't. But, to be fair, WNTW is aimed at mainstream and corporate culture - nothing extreme in any fashion.
That said, I think she should have let him trim one inch from the ends anyway, because she nominated herself for this makeover. It's a shame she won't keep up the makeup Carmindy did for her - she really looked pretty with it.

I wondered about that myself. I visit a website/forum for those growing their hair, and they take great pains to keep the hair from breaking, condition it like crazy, and let each other in on which products work best for them. It's a lot of work, but then styling shorter hair is work, too. Guess you don't get something for nothing

I used to do the french, dutch and herringbone braids to my hair in the 80s. You wouldn't catch me wearing any of those other braids. they were (for lack of a better word) - blech...
None taken And no doubt S&C would agree with you. I guess I hang out with too many historical re-creationists. LOL!!! But Lynn might have liked at least one of the braids. The point is that there is always something that can be done with hair, whatever its length. And, like I said in another post, Lynn could have let Nick cut one inch off the ends to be diplomatic; it wouldn't have really changed the hair at all, and everyone would be happy. But then I don't know, maybe her SO would have had a hissy fit if she'd gone through with that - not that he would've even noticed if it hadn't been done on TV. Unfortunately, I know lots of men like that.
