I cringe every time I see the cases and cases of Mt Dew in their home and the empty cans scatter all over. During the last episode, Zach even had a bottle of Mt Dew while at that college listening to the presenter. It's common knowledge that it is the worst possible thing you can do to your teeth. How can the parents allow this totally preventable damage to occur? It seems totally unChristian to condone defiling the kids bodies.

I always notice their love for Mt.Dew, too...it's almost like they're obsessed with it.

I saw an ABC news special with Diane Sawyer about the rural kids in WV or Kentucky. I forgot which. It is an epidemic there. MANY people, including children, have all rotten teeth! The dentist have a term for it. Mountain Dew rot or something like that. That area has the highest sales of Mountain Dew in the world! The Mountain Dew company is trying to educate the public in that area about the problem. Guess the Roloffs haven't heard about the issue yet.

"Central Appalachia is the number one spot in America for tooth decay to due to their poor diet and widespread addiction to Mountain Dew. They say it's used as a kind of anti-depressant, thanks to its high-caffeine and sugar levels. Good Morning America visited and found they even put it in baby bottles."
Very unhealthy. Must be a TLC sponsor.

LOL I am from Kentucky, I brush my teeth three times per day, I have been getting fluoride treatments since early childhood and I have all my adult teeth. Plus, I wear shoes and I have an education from an accredited University.

Zach made reference to his addiction last week. Debb, I saw that special as well. I think the show was about a region of the country (Appalachia?). I, too, have noted all the soda those kids drink. Do they grow any veggies on that farm, by the way?

There is also a common rumour that Mt Dew causes male infertility. You would think that would discourage teenage boys from consuming it in large quantities.

Gee, My Dad wouldn't buy soda and he wouldn't allow it in the house. It was milk, water, juice, tea or nothing.

Lorilee, I have friends from Kentucky who have good teeth too. I meant no offense to anyone from that area. It's just a problem with many people according to that documentary. I certainly didn't mean to imply any disrepect to Kentucky natives.

I know. I was being facetious. Researchers are always doing these studies but rarely do they resemble the majority.

It's not just Mtn. Dew. It is all sodas, pepsis, cokes, etc. It's worse than battery acid on your teeth. My dentist had a brochure when I was there last week, showing me what my sipping on pepsi all day long is doing to my teeth!!
