After watching this episode and the last I understand why Matt was so insistant on going and all of them going. Matt has come to realize that his mobility and health are quickly going down and he knows that his time to do things like this is getting short. He just wants to do some things with his family before it is too late and he can not do them. Amy's health is much better and she does not feel the tug of the realization that you will only be able to do certain things for a short time longer. Zach needs to understand this because some day I think he will be in the same situation. I guess long story short his family needs to think things thru a little more and understand eachother a little better. It is obvious to me that Matt just wants to make memories with his family before he can't do things anymore and I think that Amy needs to get off of her high horse and try to understand.

I think if he hadn't mis-scheduled the trip...and then realized that Amy had told him her schedule..and then was too stubborn to change it....perhaps he could have made some memories (with his family IF that is his goal) with much less tension for everyone.

I think it worked out well. His Dad is wonderful and not an old crab like Zach and Amy. She bi**hed when he had to leave the river cruise to save the farm.

JUST FYI.. In the show amy says she told him Matt said she did not tell him so noone can say weather or not that she did tell him for fact... weather or not it was right or wrong on them is not the point everyone who watched that show tonight was upset about the way she handled the situation with deviding the kids

Yes, after watching the show, I don't know how anyone can place blame on either Matt or Amy. As far as I am concerned, I see two people who don't communicate, and the blame lies with both.

So true. I don't think Amy divided anyone, but she also didn't help the situation one bit. Her hurt feelings showed more than her "neutrality". Matt made a big mistake. I wonder why both parents didn't call everyone together at once, discuss this as a group, claim that it was a mistake, and then say that the trip is on, who wants to go. Amy could have encouraged the kids to take the trip (and give Matt what-for in private). Not tackling this issue as a group, I think, contributed to there being different camps. I didn't see a need to cancel the BVI trip; Matt seemed to have spent some money already, the kids had the week off and nothing else to do, why not make the most of it? I didn't see a need for Amy to cancel either, if she felt so committed. It would just be something she missed out on. What was the alternative? She does her thing and everyone else stays home and mourns her absence? They both failed.
