Yep, agreed. I don't mind engaging in legitimate debate on an issue...but that "whatever you say" thing just isn't one.
There is no use debating with you. You are stuck and there is no use even trying. So, Whatever you say!

I don't think it's so much a different perception of a person we see on tv; but rather an unwillingness to launch totally inappropriate- not to mention incredibly repetitious-- "views" about them. If the query is why can you not rant as I do? Perhaps the answer might be: it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do. If I saw someone on tv that I felt so compelled to deem disgusting in all ways daily, I would simply turn them off..it would be very shallow of me not to do so. JMO, of course, and my observation.

I wonder if TLC is taking note of how many posters are disgusted and unhappy, threatening to stop watching the show. Perhaps this board only represents a fraction of the viewing public, with the majority being people who just like to watch the Roloff's and don't feel the need to vent. Some of the posts lately have been very mean spirited.

It's the same small group of people. Nothing has changed other than their login name.

Brit... I think it says more about our personality as a viewer, and how we choose to live. Some look at the house and think it's perfectly fine, while others look at it and see it as pure chaos. Some viewers are obviously more like Amy, not minding the mess and see nothing wrong with it, while others are more like Matt and want a clean home.
The same can be said for Amy's behavior. Matt had a problem with her behavior at a soccer game recently. Some posters thought Amy's behavior was fine, while others didn't. It all goes back to what you as a person find acceptable. And goodness knows we're all very, very different.

I'd be hesitant to lapse into analysis here myself...but a personal choice not to waste time, space, and energy listing someone on tv's shortcomings in the housekeeping department MAY POSSIBLY NOT reflect AT ALL the personality of the viewer, or their own homemaking skills-- but may reflect their choices of what they want to spend time on, and what they do not. just my opinion.

Well, OBVIOUSLY he didn't.
I guess she can be accused of not being clairvoyant.
She was letting him know she is not his nurse. Maybe he'll get his prescription (for HIS condition) filled next time, or maybe he won't. Up to him really.

That comment - and the subsequent one of collecting the insurance - bothers me even more now that I know the sequence of events. The comment was made just before the funeral for Mike.
Maybe it's just me but I find it very disturbing in that context.

Ratdog... I agree. I just wish the show had followed the timeline of the actual events. We now know that the family was dealing with Mike's death during that time. I'm sure everyone was very upset.

I believe she said that most-talked-about-quote just prior to the two of them getting on the plane to travel to Nashville to speak at a convention there. And obviously, he didn't die on the plane.

It was a nasty remark. Some people relate to that.

In the scene I saw this was not 2 people lovingly joke around with eachother..sure couples joke but matt was not laughing at amy's comment..you can tell when people in love are giving each other a hard time.. this was not the case and for those of you who think this has something to do with taking care of someone..Amy always says not so nice things to matt..I think Matt tries by saying nice things to Amy but she has nothing nice to say.
What I heard after her comment was a chuckle, I believe she was just joking around with her comments.

I don't see how that statement could be funny in any situation.

I agree with DBTS, Amy may have been just kidding but "there is some truth in all joking"
Naturally a lot of friction builds up with a couple of many years together and sarcasm is one way of releasing that tension. It isnt IMO the best way; and it is damaging to the relationship over time.
I think Amy has a sharp, sarcastic side to her humor that can be hurtful. (Also I think it possible that her dad is that way a bit too from what we have seen of him and maybe that is where she got it from.)
Matt's parents, OTOH seem very open and supportive and able to express themselves without being hurtful.
Lucky for the kids Pop and Honey are living close by and seem to be a big part of their lives.

There are lots of people who say ugly comments but do so in a sarcastic not so humorous way. They believe that it's acceptable to say nasty things, as long as they package it with a little humor and a smile.
Amy's father and Amy are very much alike from what we've seen of him. He's very insulting, yet somehow Matt manages to just take it with a smile, which probably in the end upsets Amy's father more than anything.

Haha! That is soooo true and I am glad that Matt is able to let such comments "rolloff" his back like water off a duck's back. (smile) It shows that, despite his disability, his self-esteem is very healthy.
