I just rescued two more critters. This brings my count to...
3 Great Danes 2 Green Tree Frogs (our son's passed) 2 Barking Tree Frogs 3 Firebelly Toads 1 Angel Fish 1 Chilean Rosehair Tarantula 2 Patternless Leopard Geckos 13 Rats 2 Bearded Dragons
Sadly, the baby Dove passed. My youngest Great Dane got loose while I wasn't home and was trying to make friends with the Dove. Unfortunately, Delilah doesn't realize how large she really is and how small the Dove was. We're not sure as to why the frog passed.
Now we just have to place 5 of our rats (they're rescues) within the next few weeks and our house will be managable again.
Canterbury.... I had a very sweet dalmatian who wouldn't hurt a flea, but he loved to chase birds and squirrels. I guarantee you that your Dane wasn't trying to play with that Dove. haha He was trying to catch it. It's a game to them. They never seem to eat their catch but they love to kill it.
I got into a fight with a Marine that's back in the states. He's a moron and exclaims all dogs over there have rabies. While it is true that rabies and other diseases are common, not all the animals have those problems. Then he went on to rant that the animals over there need to be blown up like the people. How ignorant...
Juicy- Very much so.
Corals- All we know is no more birds. Did you get the info on the poo eating problems that I posted for you?
Im with you on the sad story. That is sick to say the least. I myself have turned people in for cruelty to animals. I've had people threaten to throw me in jail for feeding their starving animals..didn't stop me though.. HA! People hurting defenseless animals...well...I won't even say on here what should be done to them! All of my pets are ones people have abandoned , been cruel to, etc. They all seem to have just found me somehow.OK..this is sad..I'm getting all misty now.
There is somthing very wrong with someone who deliberatly abuses an animal. However lets not forget about the Marine who fought the military policy of not bringing home animals, and was able to bring home the "camp dog" because he was afraid of it being left behind.
Aok, you know I respect you as a poster but I will have to say that bringing home the camp dog has nothing to do with the senseless abuse of that puppy. I'm sorry, I hope you aren't offended but that story just makes me sick and nothing makes me feel any better about it.
It makes me sick as well. As some may know, I am a big dog lover, (all animals really) That act is senseless and horrific. I have not seen it, nor do I want to. My only objection would be if anyone implied that was how Marines act, when it was the act of an idiot, who happend to be a Marine.
I am right there with you in not being able to write the words on here about people who hurt animals!
Good for you for taking the initiative and turning those people in to the authorities! Honestly, you should feel proud of yourself. Sometimes, I think, people are reluctant to get involved -- or they might think that the problem will resolve itself. So, kudos to you for taking action!

AOK - I understand what you are saying. My Dad is a proud Marine who served in Viet Nam. (I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought all Marines were bad people)
I think these three scum bags disrespected the Marines and I hope they are dealt with accordingly.
I don't think anyone would hold this incident against all Marines. That would certainly be a bigoted view. There are idiots everywhere and this just happened to be one of them. Too bad he didn't go over the cliff with the puppy. He wasn't a Marine, he was a coward.

I totaly agree, and I have a feeling they will be dealt with, if not by their superiors, then by other Marines who happen to be animal lovers...

I guess your source was different than mine, as your was read. I saw it on Nancy Grace. When Nancy spoke the horrendous words and showed a short clip of the Marine holding the adorable puppy by the scruff of its' neck, I changed the channel IMMEDIATELY. The implication was that the video would be shown after commercial break. I didn't wait around to find out.
Subsequently, Nancy Grace did say that the Marine was removed, and I believe the Marine video taping it was, also, but no charges were filed against them.
I hope this madness isn't representative of the state of mind of where the more mentally fragile troops have gotten as a result of being there.
DISCLAIMER: I am not in any way making an umbrella statement that implies our U.S. troops are going over the edge.

Not knowing the personality type of Delilah, but taking into consideration her size - much BIGGER than a young dove, the outcome seems predictable. Too bad, I was rooting for the dove. I have two of my four parakeets left.
My very sweet German Shepherd, and equally sweet Chihuahua, ahhuummm, don't take kindly to the two parakeets as they swoop past them. The chi leaps a whole six inches off the ground toward the birds and the G.S.'s large size enables her to fall about a foot or so short of the tail feathers. I swear, the birds appear to dare the muttleys to try to catch them!
That's just what I should should be doing ~ cleaning the house. I'm flip-flopping from my site to here. The sun is just setting and it's been a lazy summer day here in CA.
