Do you know what happened to little boy after that documentary? Did he grow up to have pups of his own, is he still alive today???? His story inspired me, he was such a brave little guy!
No i dont, some thought he was in the documentary meerkats unmasked with his new family because the male was named digger wich was the name they gave little boy when they redid the narration in a kalahari saga. his original name was little boy...
there was quite a stir though when we first heard the name digger in meerkats unmasked !
i would like to know who filmed little boy and if anyone kept track of him!

wich sis grace or ginger?
oh god everytime i hear the name ginger i picture her trying to assume her post bloodied and not being able to hold her balance after the jackal attacked her!
Everytime I read about Ginger and Littleboy I get all weepy. I want to watch the story, but I just cannot get brave enough to do so. I envy all of you who have been able to view the video and share your feelings about LittleBoy, Ginger and all his family. Someday I will....
Gosh Littleboy you and I registered the same day. I thought the forum had been around for much longer....guess we really are the meerkat *elders*, so to speak!
I sorta stumbled onto MM. I think I saw an article in TV guide, tuned in somewhere around halfway thru season 1, and have been hooked ever since. I then found this site, joined up and am learning a lot.
3meerkatlovers, I am just north of you, in Monroe, Mi. I too have seen the Toledo Zoo meerkats. They are so cute.
I just retired from driving school bus for 29 long years. A couple of years ago, my beloved Keto, a 17 year old Siamese passed away. Maybe he will see Flower and the gang up there. Went to the local humane society and rescued a sweet little kitty named Carmen. She was hit by a car, and only has 3 legs, her hind one taken off by the vet after we found out it was dead, so to speak. At times you would never know she has only 3 legs, as she can run around just fine. Then about 3 months ago, my daughter found a little baby kitten wandering around her home, and I took her in. She is a tortise-shell, and looks just like a little meerkat. I named her Tosca. She will play fetch with me and runs around like a little meerkat. Loves to stand on her rear legs.
I just hope they start season 3 sooner rather than later. Can't wait, although I don't want to see Flower get hurt, but such is life.
Keep up the good work everyone as you keep me entertained with all of your postings.
cariefox72, welcome, you have my eternal admiration for being a schoolbus driver for 29 years! You have earned your retirement.
Sorry about your cat Keto, but I am certain he is with Flower and all the meerkats who have left us, but your new little lady Carmen sounds like a beauty. Tosca is a perfect name for the little orphan who now has a wonderful home. I am also taking care of a stray who chirps, not a meow, and I call her Tosca, but I already have 3 cats so I will have to take it easy as I bring another little one into my home.
Hi! It's terrific to see so many TRUE animal lovers! I am 49, live in Florida but am moving back to Michigan next month. 3 pets: female White German Shepherd (Athena....thus, my screen name); male black cat Apollo; and grey female cockatiel Pookie Bird. And NO, they weren't named after the meerkats, I had them first! Thank God for Animal Planet. Just love the way that they get the animal lovers together while teaching responsible ownership. And just love the way that all of you love the meerkats. You're all the greatest!
Tortis and calicos are my favorite cats - I have 2 torties - Kira and Sami - my all time best favorite cat was a black and white Tuxedo - Starr - she had to have a leg amputated due to cancer and she was 11 years old and adjusted very well - unfortunately - the leg amp. only gave me 6 more months with her and I lost her to lung cancer this July - but God works in mysterious ways and 4 days before I lost her I was saying how I never wanted to lose her but it is going to happen and someday I would like to have a Siamese or Siamese mix female and name her Bok Choy and the day before my Starr died I found my Bok Choy in a bush - it took me a week to catch her (she was feral - about 8 weeks old) I feel Starr left knowing I found my new friend - call me selfish - I would rather have both though!!!! It seems most people in this Chat have quite a few animals -
I agree with Athena - what a great site - it is nice to chat with such animal lovers - and from all over the united states and beyond too -
All you need are some fish & a rabbit and you will have a pet from each group!
It always amazes me when everyone else can manage to get their dogs and cats to get along, mine never did. And I won't even go into what relationship my cats have with birds.
You will find that we are all a bunch of animal lovers for sure though and quite addicted to those cute fuzzy meerkats!
We are so addicted in fact, that we have started up our own society to help out the meerkats in captivity, so if you are interested as well, you can check out our website at ECMS
There is also a running topic here under East Coast Meerkat Society that you should read to see what we have been up to. You do not need to be from the East Coast to be a member either. All you need to join is a love of meerkats! And it sounds like you already have that, so I hope you will join us in our crusade.
Another welcome to the burrow to Cariefox72! I'm sorry to hear about your loosing Keto, but I love it that you adopted Carmen from the humane society. After going through all the trauma of being hit by a car, a good, loving home is just what she needed! Most people would go for those cute kittens or a cat without any problems. You showed you truly are a cat lover! And Tosca sounds adorable. I love torties!
I have 2 black & white brothers that I inherited from my Aunt when she passed away, and they came into our life just as we were starting to lose the last of our 3 kitties at 18 years, so I know how important those new kitties are.
I never wanted to get anymore cats once ours were gone because it just hurts too much to loose them, but I have to admit, life wouldn't be the same without them and I am very glad they are here!
As you can probably tell I am a huge cat person as well as a meerkat one now too thanks to MM. I knew nothing about those little guys until the show, and I, like you, just happened to tune into it one day and have been addicted to it ever since.
So enjoy the posts (and I hope you do some posting yourself) and catching up on all the episodes until the new season begins.
You will be amazed on how active this forum really gets once the new shows start!
Ccatz, thanks for the kind words. I guess I did earn my "Stripes" after 29 long years.
It's funny we both have cats named Tosca.
Ccatz and shakespeareforever thanks for the kind words about Keto. I do miss him so. But Carmen and Tosca keep me busy now. I can't afford to open up schools like Oprah, or adopt like others, but I can take a couple of strays in and give them a good home.
Athenaxvii, That is so great that you are making a donation also! You are definetly a member of the East Coast Meerkat Society. And not because you made the donation, but simply because you care about the meerkats! So welcome to the society as well!
Don't forget if you are sending it directly to the Zoo to mark it for the Meerkat Enclosure Only so that it will be earmarked for them and not go to any of their other causes.
Again, everybody welcome...Katlady you have had much sadness and joy with your babies. I too love Callies, my sweet Pickles died when she was 18.I had her since I was in high school. My three now are very different... 1 grey& white, 2 black with a tiny white spot under their chins. They are *Sisters* My Tosca is a Tortie.
Something tells me there will be alot of sweet animals named Tosca, Flower, Blossom and Bubble as time goes on. What better way can there be to show love for an animal, the beloved meerkat now gone and the new pet in your life.

No you didn't mess up at all. That is perfect!! They will make sure it gets to the 3 Amigos at the zoo. I was just mentioning that if you mailed it directly to the zoo as some people do, to mark it for the meerkats only and to let the ECMS know that you had made the donation just because they like to keep track on what donations where made.
So you did perfect and thank you for supporting the 3 Amigos!
hi, i'm korkiemama from illinois and i'm not very good at writing but wanted to introduce myself anyway. i am a housewife with alot of "children". i have a yorkie named korkie who was born the day my beloved maltese monica died. i have an australian shepherd name joey, a siberian husky named china, a st. bernard named rufus a small mix named mikey, a cat named dusty, and five chinchillas and a fish tank. someday i would like to open a shelter for unloved animals. you have no idea what those meerkats have done to me every time i watch them. i just want to reach into my tv everytime one of them is in danger. it's nice to see there are people like me that feel so passionate about the meerkats. hope to get to know all of you better in the future. hugs all around!
Our Meerkat Manor meerkat lover family just keeps growing & growing, not only with all of these great new kats, but also their wonderful pet family members. Welcome one and all, cat, dogs, big & little, fish and I think, korkiemama, our first chinchillas. (Hope I haven't missed any!) Welcome to our burrow. If you haven't already, please drop by the East Coast Meerkat Society thread for a great bunch of posts and drop in on our website www.meerkatsrule.org. Gene and Cheryl have done an amazing job.
you know? i didn't think anybody would answer me. you guys are soooo great. it's nice to have someone to meerchat with. i can't find anybody around here that watches MM. so i am alone in my love for the kats. do you know when season three starts? it seems like they have a few new shows and it's over for the season. does anybody agree? maybe we should petition to have more shows each season. again, thanks! hugs all around
Korkiemama, You are not alone here in your love for meerkats, that's for sure! You have lots of company there.
We all have complained about not having enough shows but so far, nothing has become of it. We have also complained, a lot, about the length of time between seasons this year, but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to wait.
And as for a date for the new season, as far as I know, they haven't given an exact one yet, just sometime around maybe June/July. It is a long time to wait but now that we have that news on Flower, I'm a little leery about the season so waiting doesn't seem as bad now.
It is going to be a fascinating season for sure though to see how the Whiskers handle life without their leader. But a very sad one already too and it hasn't even started yet! It would be nice if Flower were to be the only loss for the Whiskers this season, but a bit of a pipe dream I guess.
It is really horrible to get so emotionally tied up with animals that you have never even seen in person, but these little guys sure do manage to do that to a person don't they!
I agree with you. I am hesitant about watching the new season. I know I will be so sad and traumatized by the death of Flower, even with the warning that it is coming. Blue!
Years ago I saw an hour program about a family that stayed behind to help a little girl meerkat keep up when she had been badly injured. I no longer remember much more, except that it indelibly marked me forever. They are beautiful, loyal, courageous and sometimes very funny.
I am 53 and living in South Florida (near Fort Lauderdale) with my two boys (very spoiled cats). They are brothers that I adopted. One is orange and white and the other is white and orange. I have had all sorts of pets over the years but cats just seem to work out better for me. I have watched Meerkat Manor from the start and am totally hooked on meerkats. I have known about meerkats for years but didn't know just how cute and interesting they were until Meerkat Manor came along. I am very sad to hear about Flower but I look forward to getting to know the new players in this drama and keeping up with the old favorites too. I really hope that Mozart ends up back with the Whiskers and as their leader because she seems to be a "chip off the old block" who will carry on Flowers legacy.
