Hopefully SG, but when you come into the burrow there are so many choices, by the time they see us, the new kats don't think of dropping in. They introduce themselves on all the boards.

Which is good....we can meet them anywhere!

Long time, no post. I have been busy with Quirkie Meerkat Jeopardy site and really don't get to wander this way much anymore. But I just had to share the big news......

I am happy to report there are NO tornado watches/, floodds or severe wind or thunderstorms predicted for this portion of OK this evening!!! WOO HOO!!! Eek I can finally go to bed without having survival gear at the ready.

Anyhoos...for those that are having weather problems, please stay safe. Tornado Warning/the slew signs out... Cool

I am so lucky to have the whole week off. A week to enjoy watching Seasons 1 and 2 as well as re-reading the TCB book. Also plenty of time to check out the forum and search the web for even more information about the meerkats. Its going to be a great week. Smile

Hello everyone, New Manor Fan, glad you have the week off!

Tornadowarning, I hear you on the no warnings! I think I live pretty close to you. They blew the sirens yesterday at an un excepted time. What a jolt! The dogs sure do howl. Hey I think its great your a Quirkie, sounds like fun. I just dont have time.

Ccatz, the movie is three days away now! Cant wait!

I put my time off to good use by adding to my meerkat collection. I went online and purchased the paperback version of the TCB book and pre-ordered the DVD version of Flower's movie. I almost bought the cutest plush meerkat dressed in a cap and gown but they were none left in stock (imagine that!).

Currently, I am looking into the adopt a meerkat program at the National Zoo. Seems like a good program although I have not yet been able to determine how many meerkats are at the National Zoo. Time for some more digging.

Three days and counting! Smile

DC's National Zoo is my home zoo, but I don't know how many. I was just over there in November, must bow my head in shame.

According to records, the National Zoo has 2 males, 3 females, and 4 unknowns. The term "unknown" may (or may not) imply new babies.

That's okay, Ccatz. I did not even know the National Zoo had meerkats until a couple of months ago. I am not sure where they fall on the Zoo's priority list since the meerkats were not included in the Small Mammal Photo Gallery.

Thanks for the info West Coast Meerkat. So far, all I have been able to determine is that the Zoo's meerkats came from Africa in 2006 and a pup was born at the Zoo in February 2007. I am thinking about contacting the Zoo by E-mail.

They had 2 pups in late November 2006, sadly one died. I had the exhilerating experience of seeing him emerge from the burrow for the first time. I wanted to name him!

There was another birth prior to that, also an evicted sub female with her pup. The Zoo had to prepare separate quarters for them as the others in the mob would attack her and the baby trying to kill them. It was so sad to see her. She wanted to rejoin the mob, like Tosca.

There are two different enclosures connected by tunnels. Sometimes it is frustrating to watch as they want to play underground in the tunnels and we want to see them...sweeties all!

I have my first chance to go to National Zoo Tuesday. I met by chance, Lisa Stevens of the Panda exhibit at a local dog show and have promised myself a trip to the zoo to see the meerkats and the panda exhibit and to say hi to Lisa.

Hi, I`m new on the forum.Been reading the postings for some time. An old Meerkat lover. Have not missed an episode of MM. Seems like sunday night will never come. Was in Disney World last week. They have around 5 Kats . So tiny and so cute. One was on sentry on a high rock. The others were digging for food. Had to go back several times.
Hello to everyone. I am looking foreward to post more. Love to read your postings.

Am I supposed to introduce myself? I've been on the spoiler forum since we lost our Flower. I never wanted to post on this one as I'm really afraid I'll blab something I shouldn't, but there is really a lot of info here that's not on the spoiler, so here I am. Wink

I stopped posting when they changed the format. Now when I hit reply I have to go through all the Discover stuff to the Meerkat Stuff to find where I want to answer a post. It is too time consuming.

However, I am so excited that the Meerkats are BACK!

What are the details of June 14th?
