Hi. I found Meerkat Manor accidently one night about a year ago while channel surfing - and instantly fell in love.

I've been "lurking" since I accidently bumped into this place a little over a week ago and just registered a few minutes ago. I saw the notes about Flower and I was so upset that I could barely read the posts through the tears. I've gone through tons of kleenix.

I'm in NE New Jersey. I currently have one cat named Krissy. She's a street rescue and has a wild streak in her, but she's calmed down a bit. Over the years we've had cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, a frog, even an alligator!

In my house, Friday night is Meerkat Manor night.

Hi speedkeys no one accidently bumps into us. It is meerkat magic that draws you in...Welcome!

Yes, our sweet Flower is gone, but not in our hearts and you have Krissy to comfort you, if not too wild. I have 3 cats, but am trying to woo a feral I have name Tosca to join us. Don't know how lucky I will be. Hope you have learned much from your reading and like the rest of us learn from each other.

Oh speedkeys, I can't tell you how delighted we are you went from lurker to sentry. You already have left your scent mark on this burrow. Thanks, and get ready for a wild ride, you will love it here, especially on Friday nights (although roving duties may bump me to the Saturday replay from time to time)! Smile

Shakespeareforever,

You mentioned in your post how much you love Monterrey. I'll be there April 27-30 to run the Big Sur Marathon which starts in Big Sur and finishes in Carmel. I ran it last year and loved it , so I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for recommending the Aquarium, I'll have to check it out. Is there a zoo nearby that has meerkats?

Welcome speedkeys! You really had an alligator!! How big did it get? I think that may take the prize as most unusual pet.

Hi! I'm a bit new to this. If I was a meerkat I guess you wouldn't call me a pup, but a teenager. Lol. I'm glad to be here and I hope I can be welcomed instead of hated...Well talk to ya later!~

Squirrellygirly, Unfortunately Monterey does not have a Zoo. The closest would be San Francisco and they do have meerkats but that is a 2-2.5 hour drive from Monterey.

If you are willing to do that drive though, I would recommend the Oakland Zoo instead. Their meerkat habitat is much better. I have photos on my photo page of both zoos you can check out if you would like. I also got a link for you for Monterey so you can see what else they have going on there.

flowerx719, don't be silly. You're part of the mob now! Whenever we forage, stick with me and Athena, we'll show you the ropes. Glad to have you. Based on your age, you may be part of the volley litter. She'll be thrilled to meet you. Smile

Shakespeareforever, thanks for the photos, Monterey looks like *the* place to be.

meerkatgirl123 is an awesome young artist. She created my Pancake, her pups & Youssarian, "I am so cute" signature on master's site. I think you have seen it. I chitter chat all over!

Yo

Welcome to the big cyberburrow speedkeys and Flowerx719.

Is it the reruns that got you to enter new territory? What got you hooked?

Hey, Pinkbuni! Sounds like we have quite a bit in common in addition to love of meerkats. I also 'moonlight' as a fitness instructor (fearless aerospace and defense industry consultant by day, spin instructor by night!) and I scuba dive. Have you ever done Lanai Cathedrals?? That's my BEST DIVE EVER!

I know there's some world class diving in South Africa, but I think I'm going to stick to chasing meerkats when I go there. I'm not ashamed to admit I am a little scared of sharks. They have some SERIOUS sharks (not those harmless reef sharks!) off South Africa!

Runs

ps. SquirrelyGirl, good luck at Big Sur. I've always wanted to run that one. I'm coaching a team that's doing the Women's Nike Marathon in San Fran this Fall. We kick off training in early June...

SmileFlowerx719 Welcome to the burrow!

Of course you are welcome here! We could use some more teenagers here.

And one major rule here is WE DO NOT HATE! We are a loving mob, though tail biting has been known to happen, but that is true of all families! We always manage to work things out.

You are officially part of this family now so consider yourself a teenager (not a pup) with lots and lots of new Aunts and Uncles now, that will come to your defense if anyone gives you a hard time. That is not tolerated here!

So make yourself at home and tell us a little bit about yourself. What brought you to Meerkat Manor, who is your favorite meerkat and mob, do you have any pets at home?

Speedkeys, Welcome! LOVE your pets! We LOVE animal lovers!

FlowerX710, Welcome! This burrow is a great big happy and loving family. You'll be fine. Chitown is right, you might get along very well with volleyball-meerkat who's an absolute sweetheart!

A belated welcome to speedkeys and flowerx719, we can never have too many meerkats or meerkat lovers. Please settle down and enjoy being part of this great mob.

Flowerx719 we have a very lively group of pups for you to get to know and I am sure they will introduce themselves to you.

speedkeys, we all love animals and most of us have pets. I have a 13yr old Yorkie named Stormy Dragon, he is spoiled and blind now but mostly he is my joy and keeps me happy.

Hi all, getting back a little late. I don't really go near a computer on weekends or t.v.'s for that matter, except Meerkat Manor, Cops & America's Most Wanted). I try and do other things outside, away from technology & the concrete jungle Wink. Anyway, I've already done the drive from San Francisco to Big Sur, Monterey, Carmel (Hog's Breath Inn, of course Big Grin), 7 Mile Drive & stopped a million times in between just to take pictures. Cool That was one of my favorite trips. Stayed overnight in Monterey. What I haven't done is San Diego so we might combine seeing the Yankees in Anaheim, then going to Palm Springs for the Fellow Earthings Kats & Living Desert for a few days then drive to San Diego for the Zoo's & Wildlife Park. Shakespereforever I even did the Monterey Aquarium when we were there! We also did Muir Woods in San Fran. Runs, no I never did that dive but my favorite was 100' reef off the coast of Belize...truly amazing! Big Grin

Pinkbuni, I have been going to Monterey every year for the past 25 years and have yet to go to the Hog's Breath. I could never find it on my own and was too embarrassed to ask for directions, I hate looking like a star struck tourist. I have had friends that ran into Clint while they were there and he even bought them a drink. Lucky girls! Cool

You are so lucky to travel as much as you do. I am a home body these days, and it sure does get boring. My moving burrows is the most excitement I have had in a long time. At least the new burrow is on the ocean so I can pretend I am in Monterey again.

My cousin just got back from Belize though and she loved it!!

First off c-boo, best of luck with the procedure. If Shakespeare can recover from a vicious puff adder bite, you can and will heal in an equally spectacular fashion.

Regarding Season 3, anytime between June and September. Check back in after the 20th and we'll have more for you.

Meanwhile, I'll do your daily duties around here since you'll be gone for a while. Let us know when you're back.
