I was reading an article about a recent Meerkat Manor party in NY where the AP/Discovery people brought in some Meerkat IPA (India Pale Ale), so I decided to hunt down the beer. It's a micro-brew made by Big Time Brewery in Seattle. I contacted them, and unfortunately they can't ship it out of state. That begs the question, how did Discovery get it sent to NY? I guess that unless you live in Seattle, it'll be hard to find some.
It would be great if someone from this forum will be traveling from Seattle to SoCal with some extra room for meerkat beer. The link is below.
BEER!!!! Did you say Meerkat Beer??!! I love life in a bottle...a bottle of color, a bottle of beer, a bottle of wine....and pale ale is one of my favorites...
I remember when Coors wasn't shipped out of that state it was made in....my cousin brought a couple of cases back to Indiana 30 some years ago...it was almost as illegal as 'smoke'!
Meerkat beer! This reminds me of when Zaphodstheman brewed up a batch of "Pancing Pups Porter." It's probably time for him to brew some more, how about it ZTM!
From one of several online reviews; boy I am getting thirsty!
Dark rusty orangey brown with a nice head of light tan foam. Nice lacing and head retention are there as well on this freshly poured pint of nectar. Aromas are all fresh piney citrusy hops, with some nice maltiness in the background as well. This is a kick a$$ IPA. The hopping is complex and great citrus fruit flavors, and other strange spicy notes come into play. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nice, drinkability is killer as always. Perhaps the best of the 3 IPA's made here...
I wasn't able to find a pic of this beer yet. I did find another brewery out of Seattle called HALE'S ALES LTD. that have been carrying Mongoose IPA since 2002. The label has a MEERKAT on the label...
Well,Suricate, that website was...interesting...love the labels on the beer and the carton,
I scrolled down a little further and saw on the left side they had the poster for the Flower movie and some meerkat photo shots from AP's website. This ace of spades kept following my curser around though
Thanks for the information and site
(gotta get a six pack...gonna brainstorm on this one)
Meer Beer! How cool. Suricate, thanks for the link. I love the labels too! Gotta figure out how to sneak in at least one bottle. A six pack would be nice!
O.k. in my rl I work for a major shipping company. So I can safely tell you that shipping alcohol of any type (wines, beers, spirits) is not simple for individuals. It is highly regulated by many gov't agencies. Each state determines that shipping laws for these types of beverages. (It all harkens back to prohibition.) So just buying a six pack and tossing it into a cooler to ship could be technically illegal. To ship these items you have to go to a vendor (brewery/store) who is licensed to ship to the specific state you wish to receive the items in. Likewise the shipping company must have adult signatures on the recipients.
So unless you really want the contents you might be able to obtain the bottles or other items with no shipping concerns.
