Hello my favoirte burrow mates. Another year has passed. Like the rest of the world I have put on a few pounds over the holidays. Roll Eyes I Went to my Weight Watchers meeting this morning and I am ready to get back on the wagon. If any of my favorite Meerkat people would like to join me fighting the battle of the bulge please let me know. We are a family just like the Whiskers and like the Whiskers we work together like a team. I need a at-a-girl encourging word once in a while and if any of you are stuggleing like me I would be more then happy to cheer you on too.
I know I have to take this seriouly now I am having problems with my health and it is all because of my weight.

mitch -

If you think your problem is more about eating than about exercise, WW is probably the best for you.
Congratulations for going to a meeting today. Smile
For myself, a large meal is the worst because is seems to open up a Pandora's box of food desires. So I go small on the meals, and 4 a day instead of 3.

You go girl! Smile Smile Smile

Oh my, it's that time again, is it? Okay, I know I'm the least good example, I'm like a certain orange cat "never met a lasagne I didn't like", and it will be good for me to drop a couple of "chocolate candy is too good to miss" lbs, so I'm in Big Grin

Atta girl, M4M, and you go, girl Melba (muffin top?! Big Grin) I'm right with you Wink

Count me in, too. My husband is one of those, "oh, come on, you look great, try this, eat that, just one bite" types. He is not supportive of me if I try to get in shape. So, I could use a buddy or 10 to lean on and I would be happy to encourage and support right back.

mitch4me, I am in the same boat as you. I would love to do the Weight Watchers but can't afford it right now. I am off work due to shoulder surgery and my disability payments are not enough. So for now will just have to police myself until I get back to work. I am also limited in exercise options now due to my injury and the weather outside. Love to walk my dog but too cold for me. But this is what I need to do this year-take care of myself. I don't want to be stick thin just healthy. So I am in for the encouraging word!Big Grin

Our significant others can be very funny, if our dieting will effect in any way their meals, no way, honey Smile

FMF - It is hard to lose when you are limited, in the house alot, and broke. Frown Most plans do cost money.
Do you want us to listen to you, or nag you? Big Grin I don't like to nag, but some people respond to it. Maybe I will just ask you every day, sister!

Count me in. I did well and lost 25 pounds. Gained 15 back. Am tossing around going to WW too. Too cold to walk and too dark when I get out of work. Ugh.

shocat - walking is sooooo effective but same here, it is too dark, and too dangerous with the traffic and lack of people outside

Yes I would like to join in and lose afew pounds and eat healther!

A few months ago I rapidly gained 30 pounds.
I went to my DR. as I have had Thyroid problems for many years and I suspected that my meds where off.
They where, and also they found that I had a good sized lump on the Thyroid.
My Endo DR. Thought I might have cancer of the Thyroid and I went in for a byop.
Thank Goodness I did/do not have cancer but the Thyroid has growen to a abnormal size so it is being watch very closly.

I am not sure if I will lose any weight due to the Thyroid, but eating in a more healthy way is my goal and if I do lose a few pounds in the prossess I will be happy!

Count me in! The past couple years I've had limited funds, so no gym and I've been eating whatever is cheap or on sale. That means nothing good for you, just pasta, mac and cheese...stuff like that. Now I'll be making more money so the first thing I want to do is get a gym membership, or maybe curves. It REALLY helped me a lot before.

melba, I don't really respond when my mom nags me. But I don't have any sisters so maybe in a sisterly way. I just need encouragement to keep it up etc.

absentfriends, That is my goal too. When I get back to work and my shoulder is back to "normal" I want to join the YMCA. It is 5 minutes down the road. I am thinking swimming will be good for my shoulder and when I can would like to try yoga.

I think most of us just need steady encouragement and a place to vent our frustrations.Smile

Wow!!!! Thank you so much for the positive feed back. I knew if I asked for help my favorite Meerkat people they would be there for me. No matter what the challenge we face it is so nice having someone to cheer you on. I joined this forum in September when our beloved Flower died.
And I have found out that Meerkat people are some of the most caring people in the world. As the Whiskers care for their family we also care for our on line family. Meerkat people are just like the animals we all love so much. If anyone needs help with their challenge you can count on me too.

Thank you, mitch4me, for starting this thread. It's been a great day, I've kept busy and my portions have been smaller. I feel positive energy and support here. All days won't be great and I feel like my meerfriends will be there to encourage and listen, like Flower said. Let's keep this going and see where it takes us.

mitch4me -
Today I did refrigerator clean out. Got rid of the left over, high caloric, low fiber foods from the holiday. Then went grocery shopping for tons of my favorite yogurts, a salad, and the basics of tuna, a true whole wheat bread, etc, etc.
The most difficult temptation for me is to go to the fridge and find the no-no's in abundant supply. So I had to clean this stuff out. I will eat it, love Godiva chocolate ice cream, but once a month is the absolute limit.

Anyone brave enough to do height and weight? I will be the first. Tomorrow morning I will officially enter my height and weight.

I understand 100% if no one else needs to do that. But for me, this may be an incentive.

Later, people, power in support!

melba, dmoo, cordee, flowemozart, shocat, kittykat, anabsentfriends We can do this! This is a awesome place for support. FMF I hope you recover from you surgry soon. I will say a special prayer for you tonight.
If all of you don't mind I would like to share something with you. In 2005 I lost over 40 lbs with Weight watchers. The program does work. In
2006 my closest friend in the world moved to Hawaii. He had been really sick, lost his job, His Farther passed away, lost his house and had hit rock bottom. I moved into my home and took care of him for over a year. He still hasn't fully recovered and I know he has so much anger inside. Last year around this time he sent me a
email accusing me of all kinds a terrible things I did not do. I know he was angry and took his anger out on me but it hurt so bad. And as in the passed I turned to food for comfort. In no time at all the weight was back.
So I am starting over again. Like little Mozart I have been knocked down but I am getting back up. of Cordee Here goes
I am 5 feet 1 inch
and I weight in at 225lbs
No one else knows this but you guys and my weight watcher leader.
It is so nice meeting all you.
you are so right Cordee THERE IS POWER IN SUPPORT.
Thank you for listening. I have been keeping a lot of this inside.

Count me in as well.
I lost about 55 pounds a couple years ago. I didn't really diet but I worked in a wharehouse and it got really hot in the summer and the pounds just fell off. During the next winer is when I started to gain the weight back. I just started eating all the time and the pounds came back. I gained about 40 of the 55 I lost back. I am about 6'0 or 6'1 and I weight about 245 pounds. My highest weight I have reached is 262 and the lowest weight I have reached was 204. My goal weight is to be around 180. I'm ready to lose the pounds agian. Thanks for this great thread mitch4me!!

Folks, add me to the list of those supporting and needing support....I had my annual physical today and although everything is fine, I still have the age-old problem of being overweight.

Even though I have lost several pounds in the last two months, I have a LONG way to go. I am 5'5" and weigh 189. I'd like to get down to 145 or so. My nemesis is soda...I love it and cannot drink any of the diet drinks...they all taste bad to me. So I'm going to have to severely restrict myself to 1 can a day and learn to work around those 150 calories.

Count me in!

OK,

6' 0" tall, stocking feet
183 lbs

Now before any of you say I am not overweight, I AM according to BMI done properly (under water). Years ago, I gained 50 lbs on meds that were prescribed to me, my metabolism has never been the same since, and the result has been many medical problems.

My natural weight at that time was 135 - 140, it was my natural weight, feasting on pizza and 3-4 meals pet day. But I would be happy at 165 - 170 now, so I am looking at 20 lbs, and I want to work out, with muscle weighing more than fat, so I may have an initial weight gain.

Hardest thing to do is lose the first few pounds, after that they melt away.

hmmm, me next.

5ft 3 and 3/4 inches - 150. Weight that is best for me is around 125-130. Like all who are in high stress job, most of the excess is around the middle - so I tend to look like an apple with stick legs and arms Big Grin. I do yoga, pilates and may take up swimming - I can swim like a block of concrete now, but hope to be able to learn a better way. Wink

OK, I am going to finish my bills and be out of here by 6AM - and at the gym. Big Grin

The gym is the best.

dmoo - you are right about high stress, the cortisone puts it right in the middle Red Face

PS Good alternative - walk the malls but do not buy anything! Smile

dmoo, I am 5 feet 3 inches and I DREAM of 150! Unfortunately I am in the same boat as mitch4me.
Let me go back to 1995, I was losing weight and feeling really good. Weighed 170 back then and still losing. Then I met my ex-husband. Of course I quit exercising to spend all my time with him and my eating habits changed too for the worse. Then we got married and he changed into an alcoholic monster. If any of you know, that means none of his problems were his fault they were ALL my fault. I could do nothing right and little by little he chiseled away at my self esteem until there was nothing left. Well we all know when there is no self esteem we don't care what we look like. I fell into the trap of emotional eating and am still trying to get out of that today. I ballooned up to 235 pounds by the time we divorced in 2003. I have lost and gained the same 40 pounds about 3 times since then. I have lost about 20 pounds in the last year so I am down to 215. But would love to get under 200 for starters. I think I would get such a lift to get rid of that 2 off the scale. As I said before I have some physical and financial limitations at the moment but will start with my food intake and portion control. I have to get off the lazy train that is for sure! Thanks mitch4me for starting this thread and thank you all for letting me ramble on!
dmoo & melba, Yes stress puts the pounds on too! I am the poster child these last 4-5 years. One thing after another since my divorce. Let's hope things calm down in 2008! I will have to walk the malls and NOT take my purse/wallet in with me!Big Grin

Hello everyone, I was unable to log in for a few days until yesterday, and then was kicked off changing between threads.

Ok my turn, I am 5'4 and weigh 137 that is morning weight, I like that one the best, most people weigh less then. The thing with me is I know
