Good evening everyone!

FWLU, *breep* Thanks. All clear over here!

Hello kescha! My day is going well, thank you, how was yours? I played with the furry children quite a bit, they were in "sweet mode" today. Elrond loves belly rubs, I'm teaching him to High 5 to give his belly and my hand and arm a rest! He is now learning to put his paw down after we touch. Now Galadriel is interested in what is gong on with all of that. Theoden just chilled and cuddled and Gandalf is his usual "mama's boy" self. Eowyn cannot be bothered with any of this, she just wants to lay around and look regal. It was just a slow, quiet day.

Take care all!

Morning Nightweaver, forgive me for being cranky. I found out our roof is leaking, and theres mold in the kitchen. Working on getting it fixed as soon as possible. I have been having some good headaches, but going to the drs later today. I love hearing about your kittys! My girls, Keiko and Kescha, have been sitting in the window watching squirrells. Neither one of them are much bigger then a squirrell, dont know what they think they would do if they could get one. I hope you have a good Monday sis. Hugs.

Dave, I sure hope you find some time to post!

Good morning all! I hope everyone is doing well.

Paw wave kescha, nothing you said led me to believe that you were being cranky at all. You have always been so nice and I haven't ever felt anyone was being ugly even when everybody is pronkering about stuff. And there is plenty to pronker about!

I am so sorry about your roof and the mold. I have heard that bleach kills mold, but I do not have any experience, so I will leave it at that. It never occurred to me, but I imagine that you did get a lot of wind from those two twisters, I guess I was just glad everybody was OK after all of the weather, the fires and the quake.

I hope your headaches get better, I occasionally get them and sometimes they just seem to stop a person in their tracks. I have given up on the medical profession, there are still good doctors, but, not to offend anyone, most are just messes. I'll tell you about one I dealt with a couple of years ago sometime, sheeesh!

That is so cool about your cats. They make a person wonder what they are thinking sometimes. Yours sound so precious.

Take care to all and I hope that everybody has a good day!!!!!!!

Hey kescha! I saw your post, thank you.

That mold is dangerous! The first case that gained national attention was in Dallas. There was a couple and a little boy and the father and the son started developing mental issues, no one could figure it out. Finally, it just happened that a man who knew about mold showed up and the house was eaten up by mold. The family knew of a little mold in the kitchen and Farmer's Insurance was dragging their feet and told the people that if they did any work by themselves they would deny the claim. Needless to say, the home still sits abandoned and the family just sued for the $1 million value of the home, but the jury awarded them a massive amount because they were allowed to decide what award fit the damage. The man and the little boy never recovered.

Hopefully with the mold being removed you'll get to feeling better.

70 mph straight line winds are way too much for me!

Yes, the little furry kids are great. So much unconditional love, and with my hand raising these guys after their mother let me near them, they are the sweetest little things. Gandalf is SUCH a momma's boy!
He was the runt of the litter, now he's the biggest. I had raised another runt that became a huge cat, my boy Tuffy, I lost him in '02, old age.

Well, I guess I'd better quit rattling on, I'm watching reruns of MM and it is nice to see some of the kats that are gone. It reminds me of why we loved them so much.

Take care of yourself, and quit messing with those silly monkeys!!! LOL

Hey Nightweaver, I have done alot of reasearch on mold, and talked to several doctors about it. Including an ear nose and throat specialist. I have never heard of anyone having mental problems. Alot of Doctors believe that the more serious effects that may result from mold exposure, are fever, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, respiratory dysfunction (including coughing-up blood), frequent and excessive nose bleeds, dizziness, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, and liver damage. Severe reactions may also occur among workers exposed to large amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working around moldy hay. Such symptoms may disappear when exposure to mold no longer exists. Other health problems may be permanent.

This is for everyones information, because mold tends to grow inside houses as well as outside.

Hello kescha! Here is the article about the mold: http://www.ican2000.com/news/article_detail.asp?article=50

Paragraph 4 states that cognitive dissonance caused by the mold was found in the father and little boy. The mother never seemed to be affected and it is still a mystery.

The father had a highly mentally taxing job and could not function, I think the boy had not started school, but was already learning all kinds of things and they both just seemed to shut down mentally. They had sought medical help, but finally pushed when the father was found wnadering in a parking lot totally out of it. It seems once again the medical community is unaware of the full extent of things. I think that the long term exposure is the cause of the massive problem, the house was totally covered inside the walls by mold before it was discovered what the problem was due to the insurance company refusing to do anything. I have the same opinion of insurance companies that I do of the medical profession and this did nothing to endear them to me.

More information for everyone.

Nightweaver, thanks for the article. The more info the better. Yes that family must have been surounded by it for awhile. I agree with you on the insurance companies.

Hello kescha. It appeared that the family had been saturated for a long, long time. This was before the insurance companies started denying mold claims and I do not fully blame them for the problem, it was relatively unknown at the time, but dragging their feet just made it worse. It sure cost them! The family just sued for $1 m and they got $32 m, I couldn't remember the amount when I first posted.

Like you, I had never heard of this before and I haven't heard of it happening again.

Perhaps the medical profession and the insurance companies should visit the burrow where all of us mental geniuses are!

Have a very wonderful evening and I hope that things go better for you, at least for a while!

Hey ya Kesch!! How's the clean up going? Hope the headaches are easing. Know what you are going through sister. Wish smoochies really could make it all better, I would send you a thousand!! {{{HUGS}}}

Nightweaver, Between flying monkeys and your kitty names, it's not hard to tell what your favorite movie and books are!! Big Grin I haven't had a chance to read the article you posted but I will. I know the black mold problem is growing around the country. I have even seen on 60 Minutes a few years back where one family simply burned their house down and started from scratch. Bleach does kill most molds, but will not penetrate deep enough into woods to do much good, also it is no good in really large infestation areas. There are now companies that specialize in nothing but black mold eradication. My first exposure to it was here in the south - I stayed at a motel and after the first day, noticed that the ventilation grill was covered with it. By then I was aready feeling sick and left. Haven't heard of it causing mental issues before though. "Cognitive dissonance", goodness, who thought that one up?? Makes it sound like their thinking was out of tune?? Confused

Hey y'all, how was everyones day??

Hello dmoo! Glad to see you in the burrow! How have you been?

I was just reading a post from meergato on Hildy's thread and it is funny..."Don't Make Me Release The Flying Monkeys" for a T-shirt.

Before I knew that poor kescha was having all of the problems I joked that I needed to call her Dorothy, I think she's ready to release some monkeys of her own, bless her heart.

I did not know a lot about the bleach, I had heard that after Katrina a man had bought bleach to give to the people, but what you say does make sense. I guess if it is more than a little on the surface, there's not a lot it will do.

And that motel...YIKES!

I had to look up the definition of "Cognitive dissonance" even though I knew the story. It seems that it is mental discord and psychological conflict resulting from incongruous beliefs and attitudes held simultaneously, which would explain the father and little boy having trouble thinking. It seems you are correct, the thinking is out of tune. This is the only story I have ever heard with mental issues attributed to mold, but it is SCARY. I live in south Texas and it is HUMID!

Yes, I guess it isn't to hard to figure out some of my favorites with my having the cast of The Lord of The Rings here! LOL

Take care, I enjoyed hearing from you!

Good evening all...
Kescha yes I'm very happy to be done, but psychology is a great subject/degree to be in. It can be difficult to figure out which profession you want to be in since there are quite a few out there.
Nightweaver, if you want the simple definition of "cognitive dissonance" it is a conflict between two contradictory attitudes/beliefs at the same time and it leads to an uncomfortable feeling. It is amazing what people will do and how their attitudes of what is right and wrong will go out the window when they have that dissonance, lol, who knew that mold would led to mental health issues..you don't see that in textbooks or many case studies..

I hope eveyone has a great night and the weather stays clear.

How are you Mk053?

I did study psychology in junior college, we will not go into how long ago, so I did follow the definition, it is just so unusual that mold caused it. With the amount of mold that was in that house, I can see where it is possible that it caused extreme reactions. That house was saturated and of course the people continued to live there not knowing about the mold. When the little amount of mold finally exposed itself, they tried to live in a detached garage apartment, but it did not help. They never could figure out how the wife/mother had no reaction at all.

It is amazing how the mind thinks when things do not mesh. The man would just sit and stare at his computer screen. The little boy could not understand things that he had learned and retained until the mold affected him.

Since it appears to be an isolated case, I will not panic.

Take care and have a very nice evening.

Hello kescha, again! I know you have had your hands full. How are your headaches? My day is going very well, thanks, hope yours is better than the last few days. Yes, these guys are loved, if not, they'd never get away with playing NASCAR from the kitchen to the living room. They have the cat crazies, it is so funny. I do miss the kitten stage, but occasionally they still have their moments.

Hope things are going better and better for you!

Thanks for the heads up, Flowerweloveyou! I do know what you mean. Nuzzles my watchful sista! Big Grin

Hello Nightweaver, Again!!! Yes I would say I have earned those rubby slippers, you dont know me, and you have no idea what I have been through. I would never post alot of personal things on a public forum. I have to say, I wish I had a nickel for everytime someone made a comment about the Wizzard of OZ! Wonder what you will come up with next? Its all good if you get what you call a "chuckel". Nothing wrong with self amusement or fantasy lands. Time to move on. Have a good one sister.

Paw wave kescha. Let me apologize. I guess I never stopped to think about the Oz thing. When I first mentioned it, this stuff had not happened, and I should have snapped once you did have trouble. I am sorry, I meant no disrespect and I assure you it was not done to amuse myself. I feel very, very bad about it, I would not amuse myself at the expense of others, but I can see how you could take it that way...fair enough. You are so easy going that I just did not realize that it was hitting a nerve. I am not patronizing you, I do not know you and if my attempt at humor in any way was offensive, I am so sorry. I will knock off the Wizard of Oz stuff, initially I could tell you took it well, but after you endured 70 mph straightline winds, leaks all over your house, the headaches and the mold, enough was enough. I did not come here to get into people's business, but you were comfortable enough to share and I stepped out of bounds.

Please accept my apologies, I think the world of you. I am sorry!

I luv ya!

Dear kescha,

I meant every word of my apology and what I say now in no way negates my feelings of regret. I just could not figure out why it appeared that I was amusing myself at the expense of others and what had prompted the statement about fantasy lands when others were engaging in the same topic.

I have thought long and hard prior to posting this. I wanted to insure that I was indeed not in fantasy land, and I found that I had posted several times about how I could not see how you kept your sense of humor, not once did you indicate otherwise.

On this very page I posted how strong you were and said something to the effect of "bless her heart", which I meant.

I asked you if I was bothering you with the "Dorothy" thing and you seemed to accept it as well meaning humor.

I acknowledged several times that I knew you were feeling bad, you never said that with your feeling bad that you had a problem with the joking.

Others have made reference to "Flying Monkeys" and "I'm melting". I am certainly in no way attempting to get more bad feelings going, but I was not the one that initially mentioned those things.

It seemed that the polite joking about swiss cheese did not bother you, and I did not engage in that. Honestly, I did not see a problem with that, so I am not trying to start some big ridiculous war.

I know that I do not know you, that is why I gave you every chance to give your input about your sense of humor being over. All you had to do was say that it was the forty-fifth time that you had heard it and it wasn't funny.

You do not know me and I was never given the op
