Good morning burrowmates. codyferret, nice to see you again. squirrellygirly, I hope you don't get picked for jury duty either. Even though some cases can be interesting, it's just a pain. I hope you're car shopping is over soon. I always get attached to my vehicles. It's hard to see them go when you've had them for so long. It's nice you're having cooler weather....I think I need to move north I hope everyone has a great day, and an awesome weekend.

Squirrellygirly, I sure hope you dont get picked for jury duty either.
Dave, I bet those kittys are sure cute. We just dont have any more kittys running around here, but If I see any, I will sure take your advice. However, we do have alot of bunnies!
Have a good Friday everyone, Paw waves!

Hey y'all, Yeah, Kesch they're cute; grey tabbies with white boots. Yesterday we had a family reunion of sorts when the mama showed up for a sit down dinner with her kids, after being MIA for a week or so. We've got a small colony of feral cats at the water purification plant I work at; one of the lab analysts has got a trap & we are gonna trap and have fixed, all that we can. It's so relatively cheap and it does so much good, it's soet of a no brainer. We were going to start yesterday but I came down with a bad cold(or God forbid, the flu) and didn't feel up to it. Squirrelly, to me, it depends on what type of case you're deciding that determines if it's fulfilling or just boring. About 10 years ago I was a juror on a child molestation case and that was pretty neat.

Sorry I had to leave so abruptly, got a phone call. Kesch, could you put "Mother-in-Law" by,I think, Bernie Cato. I hope I haven't ask you to play that before; i hear these oldie moldies on "True Oldies 106.7" and think "boy, I bet all my friends at MM would like to hear that one."So, I do hope that all you people who enjoy this music, like that one. Both of you. I've got to go to couch potato practice; not feeling real spiffy. Be back tomorrow1

Good evening burrowmates!
Hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend.
Dave, that's great that mamacat came back to see the kittens. I was worried something happened to her when you said she hadn't been around.
Jury duty was a giant pain in the butt! We sat around all day waiting to be interviewed by the attorneys so they could select the 12 jurors they wanted. It was a trip and fall case, and I thought it was a frivolous waste of time and money. Just another case of someone out to blame someone else for their won stupidity and tying to win a "lawsuit lottery!" When I told the attorneys that (but in a more tactful way), needless to say I was not one of the 12 jurors selected!!
I'll post more tomorrow, got to go get a shower!

Morning Burrowmates, we are suppose to get up to 7 inches of rain. Its nothing compared to what they are getting in the Carolinas though.
Squirrellygirly, good for you for giving them that answer! I hate law suit cases, and your right, most of them are just people trying to make a buck!
Dave, I posted your song yesterday but got triggerd for some odd reason, I will try again.
Titus, I know your busy, have a good day sister.
Paw waves everyone.

Good afternoon burrowmates!
Kescha, 7 inches of rain yikes! We just have overcast skies here so far.
My holiday weekend went great, once the jury duty part was done on Friday. I got 4th place in my 15 mile race in Charleston WV on Saturday (there was 3 younger Kenyan runners, I was first American female.) Afterwards we spent 2 nights at Sutton Lake camping and kayaking. Yesterday while we were kayaking, the DM and I saw a squirrel swimming! Fortunately it was in a quiet cove of the lake and no boats were around. It swam 100 meters across the lake to the opposite shore. I had read about squirrels swimming but had never seen it before.

Good afternoon everyone. I barely have time to post anymore. What a mess! I guess because we are trying to get our bank statements all cleared up for August, no one seems to be doing their job...it's so fustrating, and we are on a deadline so that makes it so much worse. Maybe after Thursday things will slow down a bit.
squirrellygirly, I agree with you, always someone wanting to make a quick buck somehow, even if it was their own fault.
kescha, I hope your day went well. Obviously I didn't make it back to chat this afternoon. It's just so crazy at the moment.
Dave, you are doing such a wonderful thing. If there were more people like you, we'd have less animals getting euthanized every year. It makes me sick that we have to do that.......these poor animals don't ask to be brought into this world.
Well, gotta run.....almost time to go home....YAAAAAYYYY! You all have a wonderful evening.

Titus, dont worry about the chat sister, I know your busy. Just take care of buisness, we can catch up anytime. Iam sorry its so hectic for you. Smoochies

Good morning burrowmates!
Happy Friday to everyone.
Titus and Kescha, can't believe all the rain you're getting when Pittsburgh has seen almost no rain at all this month. Sorry to hear you're so busy at work Titus, I hate when things get so hectic that you don't have time for anything.
Yesterday I had a nice relaxing day off. I got all my packing done for our upcoming 2 week vacation in Acadia National Park, Maine. We leave on Sunday Sept. 13 and will be back Saturday Sept. 26. We did this same 2 week trip last year at the same time and really loved it. There is a half marathon starting in Bar Harbor next weekend that we're both running.
As I was walking past the back door yesterday, I saw Bold One Chipmunk perched on the brick pile. I went out and fed him peanuts, and Glossy saw this and came over for some too. I was worried about Bold One because I hadn't seen him for awhile, I'm relieved he's still around.
I put my new car shopping on hold till we get back from vacation. I've narrowed it down to a Honda Fit or Scion XD.

All my cyber friends are basically right here. Cordee has my email address as does one or two other of my friends here who i can't remember right now but whoever it is, if you know korkie, you have my permission to send her my home e-mail. Korkie, this sounds important, i'm sorry I haven't been here in few days, I've been pretty sick. Be back later.

Hey everybody.
squirrellygirly, I've started putting peanuts out for a sqirrell that climbs all over my screen on my back porch. I think it's the same one, but not quite sure. Anyway, he comes around the same time every day. What a cutie!
dave, I'm glad you are feeling better. Don't you hate having allergies.
Hey Kescha, can't wait to look at your video. We don't want those rabbits in the yard....doggies aren't too fond of them I'm sure. Good idea about the feed.
Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning Burromates. Shocat, Iam keeping Casy in my prayes. I have been sick. Waiting for test results, they are checking for lyme disease.
Titus, your right, lol. Sending you a hug sister.
Please eveyone say a prayer for two fallen soliders families from Kansas. Sgt. Tyler Juden, 23, from Arkansas city, and Specialist Daniel Cox, also 23, from Parsons Kansas. They both were killed while serving in Afghanistan by IDE's. They were in seperate units. Tylers body will be flown in this morning, to Strother Field, and escorted by the Patriot Guard, to the funneral home. Daniels funneral is today at Parsons Auditorium, and Tylers is tomorrow, at Scott Auditorium. The Patriot Guard will be at both funnerals. Tylers mom is a teacher here at the high school, my pup had her last year. Yellow ribbons have been tied to all the trees, and the schools will be closed in both places, monday and tues. People will line the streets in both comunities, wearing red white and blue. Bless the Patriot Guard, we have them commming from at least three states. So sad, most of our fallen are so young. Thanks everyone. My son will attend the funneral for Tyler. I will be there in my heart.
Hey Dave, Iam glad your ok and it was just allergies.
Paw waves everyone.

Good morning every meerkat lover!!! I am off today and I have a computer for the whole day....I have been working wierd hours and lots of dramma in my life but guess what!?!?!?!WHEW....... it is great to be alive and kicking. AHEM still kickin.
Did someone say RAIN??? We got it here in TN too, the mold count is bad but I am greatful for all the rain, this year has been wet\humid and very green, compared to the last few years where by July everything is crunchy and brown. Get well soon Dave and Kescha.
kescha that was a great tribute song for the soldigers, thank you for posting it. I know the sacrifice they (each and everyone of them make to serve our country) My father was in the Air Force during war time, my uncle in the Army and my Great Uncle in the Navy, my great uncle that was in the Navy served on the USS Indynapolis (sorry spelling)that was the ship that took the bomb over that..... well you all know the rest, needless to say he went down with the ship.....rest his soul. I have the article from the papers that my grandmother had saved for years. God bless our troups.

Good evening burrowmates!
I'm posting from Acadia National Park in Maine. I'm finally at a campground with wifi access. It feels weird to be on a computer again after almost 2 weeks with no TV or computer. It's been beautiful here, mostly sunny days with just 1 overcast day and no rain so far. the DM and I have been doing lots of kayaking, running, and hiking. We haven't seen any moose or bears, just lots of squirrels and one porcupine. Also saw a porpoise come up by my kayak on Somes Sound!
Kescha so sorry to hear about the deaths of Tyler and Daniel, what a tragedy. I'll keep them in my prayers.
Shocat still keeping my paws crossed for little Casey.
Titus that's great that you're feeding a squirrel every day. Have you given him/her a name yet?
Good night from beautiful Maine, hopefully I'll get a chance to post again tomorrow.

Hey y'all, I don't know if y'all have heard this story or not but 10 people have been killed in GA. by flood waters in the last week. One of those killed was a 2 year old boy, swept from his father's arm after the flood waters carried their mobile home down a hill side and cracked it against some trees like a egg. When their home broke apart, the father grabbed the two year old, who was the biggest, and the mother grabbed their youngest son, who was just a few months old. Both the parents grabbed a hold of nearby trees and held on to their children for dear life; unfortunately, after four or five hours, the father could no longer hold on to his young son, due, I'm sure, to fatigue and hypothermia and the child was swept away to his death. His body was found by rescuers about ten hours later. Shirley and I both were in tears as we watched this man tell what happened onthe news; the two TV people were also in tears, even though they tried not to show it. The last thing the father said was " I know I will see him again". So, please keep this family, and all the others who have suffered loss, in your thoughts and prayers. Gotta go

Kescha after we posted about the millitary, on the news the next morning a group took 100 WWII vets to the capital. Well, tomorrow I get fitted for bifocals how did I get sooo old? UGH! In my mind my body says you can do it but my body says NO! Have a great Sunday every burrow mate.

Good evening burrowmates!
I'm exhausted! We got home from Maine yesterday afternoon. We had one friend from Ohio stay overnight with us to run the Pittsburgh Great Race 10K this morning. It rained off and on during the day, but it wasn't too bad for the race. Igot 6th female and first over 40, it is Pittsburgh's premiere race with 12,000 runners. After the race we had our traditional party, and about 50 people showed up. So now I'm pooped! Just cleaned up the house and am taping The Amazing Race and watching Ken Burns documentary on the national parks on PBS. Back to work tomorrow morning at 7:30 am.... Ugh!
Dave, I didn't see the news about the little boy. That is so sad, those poor parents. Did you get much flooding in your neighborhood?
Well, I'd better get ready for bed and hit the sack.
Paw waves to everyone..... yawn.

Good morning burrowmates! Boy this thread is slow this week! I finally got caught up on the 2 Survivor episodes I taped. So far I kind of like Eric, the black guy named Russell ( not the weaselly Russell), and Ben. I don't like Yasmin, she seems like an annoying blabbermouth. I'm still in the middle of watching The Amazing Race, so don't know what teams I'm rooting for yet. I felt sorry for the team that was eliminated right off the starting line, how disappointing that must have been. Still no sign of Brown Tail or Brown Tail Junior squirrels My chipmunks are all still here, but some of my squirrels have been roving away.

Hey y'all, Squirrelly, I'm with you about Survivor; I think that idiot Russell will be voted out in the next week or two. That Dr. that's leading that tribe seems kind of clueless. You're right about it being slow; we need some new MM episodes to re-invigorate everybody. Gotta go, work is calling.

Good afternoon burrowmates! 26 years ago today on October 1, 1983 I met my DM for the first time after a cross country meet when I was in college. We have a tradition of celebrating this day as our dating anniversary, it's hard to believe it's been that long! Shocat that's great news that Casey's doing better Codyferret any updates on the ferret gang?? Survivor is on tonight! I might have to tape it and watch it tomorrow because I've gotten caught up in the Ken Burns national parks documentary on this week. I'm getting my new car on Saturday! It's a grey Scion XD, just a simple little economy car that gets good gas mileage and is very reliable.

I have been so busy, no chance to post. It really kinda stinks you know? It's the end of the month though, so the next two weeks is going to be a bear.
kescha, any news from the doc yet? Seems like they make you wait forever huh?
squirrellygirly, happy anniversary. It's nice to see someone who's marriage has lasted that long anymore. Not too rare these days. Congrats. I have not named my squirrels yet. I haven't really gotten a good look at them (there are two or three), so I have to wait and see if I can tell them apart. I know one is definately a female, not sure of the other two.
cody, how are you?
shocat, that's good about Casey's numbers, I hope she improves.
cordee, good to see you here. We miss you

Good morning burrowmates!
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
I picked up my new car on Saturday, and today was the first day of driving it into work. It still feels a little funny to be driving a new car.
I had a great time yesterday at the Pittsburgh Zoo. There was a 5K race called the Zoozilla 5K, and you got free admission into the zoo. Of course the first thing I had to see was the meerkat exhibit! This year their enclosure was much better than last year, with plenty of sentry posts and sand. There were 3 males and 2 females, all of them very healthy looking and active. I got to see one of the workers feed them, I was very jealous of him!

Hey y'all, Squirrelly, in answer to your question last week about flooding where I live, we were fortunate in that we only got about eight inches of rain over the week of heavy rain; the areas that flooded, north and west of Atlanta, got almost twenty inches. Glad to hear about your new wheels; I'm hoping to get a Fusion Hybrid or Honda Insight in the next six months or so. I hope. Shocat, glad Casey is hanging in there; prayer works. Cordee/Sandy, I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to see your name on a post! I hope & pray all is well with you. Please let me know how you are doing, either here or through an E-mail. Please. Kesch, I've seen the previews for that show but right now we don't get N.G. Our deal with Direct Tv runs out this month and we intend to get it with our new package. Speaking of rescue, our "feed the ferals" program is making our front porch a meeting place for all kinds of critters; first, it was a juvenile opossum, then a few days ago a big, fat, Orange Tabby showed up, then this morning I went to put out some food and the Mama cat and both kittens scattered as I went out the door. Ten minutes later, I looked out the stained glass and all three were happily chowing down; ten minutes later I looked out again and all three cats were gone, the food was all gone and there were huge, muddy paw prints all around the bowls. (It's pouring down rain again!). I think it was the dog from across the road and I'm sure that orange cat belongs to someone; it was to fat to be feral. It's amazing how they can smell this food from so far away. Gosh, I just gave myself a brainstorm! Try to hide the smell! I'll see what I can do. Titus, are you staying dry? Yeah I get teary eyed every time I think about that man talking about the loss of his son; I hope his faith is as strong as it appeared to be. Today is Shirley's birthday; her daughter took the day off from teaching school so the two of them could go shopping at this new mall south of here. Imagine that. Pray for our troops; I just heard obout the eight we lost in Afghanistan. Gotta go.

Good afternoon, friends! It's a cool, partly sunny Monday here in my neck of the woods. I love fall, it's such a pretty time. The leaves are supposed to be gorgeous this year in the Smokey Mountains. I may just have to take a road trip in a couple of weeks.
Squirrelly, congrats on your dating anniversary! It's romantic that you all celebrate meeting each other. Congrats, also on the new car! Hope it brings you as many years of good use as your old one.
Kescha, I can't get in to pawpals, is it gone forever? Hope you are feeling better today and you have a wonderful week. You deserve it. I miss you and love you, sister!
Titus, hope things are not too hectic for you at work. You work too hard, woman! Wish we could all go to a fabulous spa for some pampering! That's a good dream, huh?
Hi, Dave! You are such a nice friend, thank you. I'm good. I had to laugh reading about your critters! We keep food and water out on the porch because so many dogs and cats are just dropped off around where we live. We've had other guests, too. Possums, raccoons, and we saw a fox the other night. It was so pretty. Good for you feeding those poor animals. You are a good guy! Please give Shirley my best wishes for a super great birthday. Sounds like she's off to a good start with the shopping trip.
Sho, my prayers for Casey. Hope all is well with you.
Love and hugs, everybody!

Morning Burrowmates, Dave, I have fed outside kittys off and on for years. Not too many dogs loose around here, but we have had an explosion of rabbits. I bought some rabbit food, along with the corn for our squirrels. Like Cordee said, its awesome that your feeding those kittys! You get my vote! We need more people like you. Prayers are needed for the troops! We lost two young ones in our area again. So sad, I feel for all of the familys that have lost sons or daughters in this war. I have a an adopted son that will be deployed in March, and it scares me bad, let me tell you. I got a phone call from him yesterday, and it was great to talk to him. Hes realy doing good, but hes home sick.
Cordee, paw pals is just fine, something happened to the link I think. Just google it and you can get in with a different link. I love fall too, my favorite season. Wish I could see those Smokey Mts. Maybe someday. Love and Hugs
Titus, that train keeps on rolling. Maybe you should jump at the next exit, haha. Just kidding, smoochies sister.
Paw waves, Squirrellygirly, and Codyferet!
Shocat, Iam also keeping Casy in my prayers.

Howdy everybody. Taking a few minutes to post to all of my buds. squirrellygirly, how'd you like that game last night????? Man, I thought they were going to kill them with the way the first half went. Looks like Big Ben has finally pulled his head out of wherever he had it Atleast I hope so. I'll be so glad when Troy gets back in the game. dave, yes we are staying dry here. I've had to put the sprinklers on the yard. It gets dry here so fast. Our rainy season is over so now is the dry season. So, sprinklers will be used more often than not now. I do love fall though. Atleast when you can tell it's Fall. It's in the mid 90's all week this week. bummer! cordee, work is what it is sister. Over worked and underpaid, but hey........I'm grateful to have a job in this economy. It could always be worse. It's nice to see you in the burrow. Big hugs to you! kescha, so sad about our troops huh? You know I keep your boys on my prayer list. That train just keeps on keepin on huh? Getting off at the next exit will be great. Is it close to your house???? LOL Everyone have a great day, gotta get back to work. See you tomorrow hopefully.

Good morning burrowmates! Cordee, I feel so bad for your niece. That's tough to face those serious medical issues at only 20 years old. I'll keep her in my prayers. Dave, I love your front porch critter feeding story! Sounds like the word is out in the neighborhood. I hope Shirley had a good birthday Did you take her out somewhere special? Titus, The Steeler game was on too late for me, so I didn't watch much of it. I'm in bed by 9:30-10 pm. I think maybe Big Ben has been distracted by his legal issues, plus it must be tough to have to follow up on a Super Bowl win. I posted my pictures of the Pittsburgh Zoo meerkats on a seperate thread on this board, if anyone's interested in seeing them. This year I went to the meerkat exhibit first before the crowds got there and took lots of pics without anyone else getting in the way. Also got to watch the zoo worker feed them some fruit.
