Hello. I am new here and am in need of some advice. My 6 month old Addison recently cut 2 teeth. She did have a fever so I gave her some medicine and teething tablets to help her out. She woke up every 15 minutes Monday night and then she was up until 4 am. She did have a fever. Then Tuesday night she was up until 5 am with a fever. Last night she was up until 4 am but didn't have a fever. Now that her teeth are cut she shouldn't have as much pain if any, right? I am worried that after being up so much the past couple of nights she is on a bad schedule. Any ideas on how to get her back to her normal schedule of maybe waking up once a night for a bottle? I would let her cry, but she shares a room with her 3 year old sister and I don't want to wake her up too. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Well, if it were me, I would probably first call the dr. just to make sure that they don't want to check her out because of that fever. If she has gotten two teeth, they may not be causing as much pain but I would think that there are more on the way that may be causing new pain. Or, the fever could mean something else like an ear infection, which would also cause pain. It's hard to tell. I wouldn't worry too much about it messing up her schedule...teething will do that, or any pain for that matter. Once she feels better she should bounce back pretty easily, at least my girls did. As long as you're consistent w/ your routine then it should be fine. What I would do, if she wakes up and you think her teeth are hurting, give her some medicine and soothe her for a few minutes then put her back in her bed. Just keep doing it over and over if you have to. Tylenol may be best...that way if it is something other than her teeth that's hurting then it will take care of whatever pain she may be having. Plus it works longer. I have 2 yr old twin girls...that's pretty much what I did whenever they woke up at night at that age...and they've turned out to be wonderful at knowing that crib means sleep and that the crib is where they stay Smile A general rule that I always would go by: if your baby is waking up during the night and it is not a usual thing for her, then go to her and comfort her. I wouldn't put her in your bed or anything like that, but just calm her down and go back to bed. Hope I've helped! Smile

When my daughter started teething, it was very similiar to what you're going through. Except one thing.... She had a fever, was drooling a lot, was VERY cranky and upset, wasn't sleeping well, and had diarhea (which I chalked up to swallowing all that extra siliva). I gave her some Tempra (Tylenol) and monitored the fever. After 24 hours I decided to take her to the doctor. They told me that yes, she was teething, but the fever and diarhea were from some other gastro issue. They gave her some medicine, the fever broke, but she still had diarhea for about another 4 days. Once all that blew over, her sleeping went back to normal. I continued to give her Camilia for her teething pain which helped a lot. Bottom line is: The pain and fever might not be from teething, you might want to see a doctor if it persists. Also, her sleeping will return to normal, as long as you continue to maintain her usual routine. Good luck!
