I'm pretty sure it was either a 338 or 375 for the goat hunt.
And about 45 days in, they gave us a lovely "Davey Crickett" (I think its made for 10 year olds, lol). But we were just so thankful to have a way to get protein it didn't matter...
The caliber of the goat hunt rifle was .338 Winchester Magnum, but that doesn't answer the question about the manufacturer or model. I have been content with my guns for several years, so I can't really say what it is, except that it is a rifle designed for the wet conditions of Alaska. The "experiment" is repeatedly said to be for three months, so the volunteers were not expected to go through the winter.
a question, why a 338 ultra mag? i have shot more guns than most growing up with a gunsmith for a dad and to be honest 338 ultras are nasty to shoot! why not something like 300 win mag or even a 30-06 if the guide also had a rifle for back up. when i saw that i was just waiting for a lesson in backcountry stiches over the eye!
