I saw this on an episode about an Afican woman. When she got home her mom wrapped her abdominal area with a very long piece of cloth. I'm wondering how long to wear it, ie how many hours at time, etc?

I havea friend who does that after each baby. With her first child she did it in the hospital the dayafter the baby was born. She worn it all day each day (taking it off only to shower) for the first couple of weeks.

She didn't use a cloth though. She got one of those high girdles. I think they're called long waist girdles. It basically went from her boobs to her knees. Once she was home from the hospital she wore 2 of them.

BTW- some of the nurses had a fit. The nurses that were older told her that that's what they did after their babies. My friend had lived in Africa for several years-that's where she heard about it.

In truth she did it to make her tummy flat faster. Not for health reasons so much. Weather or not it worked I couldn't tell you. But she was happy with it.
