EVERY time I watch this show, I'm amazed that no one from the discharging hospital is checking that the car seat is installed correctly, and that the infant is strapped in correctly. They rarely are. The show I am watching now, with baby Miranda, she is all but falling out of the seat. based on how loose the straps are, I can assume that the seat itself is also installed incorrectly. For expectant parents watching, they must assume that they are in correctly. That assumption could be tragic. Also the whole breastfeeding thing is also crazy. Everyone seems to nurse AND supplement with formula. Milk comes in with more breastfeeding not less. Information is so wrong. The episodes should be scrutinized by professionals before airing. It's a disservice to not do so.
I completely agree! They need to help these people, not just use them for amusement. What kind of damage are they allowing by not saying something. They need a CPST on the crew.
I am a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) with two small children. I have a VERY hard time watching these shows! Very Rarely are the car seats installed correctly and no one seems to care! 80% of all car seats being used in the U.S. are installed INCORRECTLY!! 80%!!! That is huge! You are right that someone on the crew should be trained! Or the parents should actually take the time to read the MANUAL for the car and the child restraint some time BEFORE the baby needs to go home from the hospital! Parents need to take some responsibility and take their seat to a car seat check center or find a CPST to help them!! CRAZY!! Most of the babies in this show are falling out of their seats!! How can parents think that is safe?!
