I tried quitting twice , each time for a month. Started smoking when my father died in 1978. The best way for me to stop is by using nicoderm patch number one. Number one because i have no insurance so to cut on expenses i cut the patches the size i need ...sometime.
YOu must have failed to read the directions on the box. I guarantee that it specifically stated NOT to cut them. Other options are ther nicotine inhaler. It is smoke free and satisfies the hand motion of holding a cigarette. The there is the gum for those who need the oral fix. I know somone who a formerly a chain smoker that underwent hypnotism. He has several months nicotine free now from only ONE session! Most of them come in generic form which are generally more affordable. Happy breathing! :-)
I will cut the step one nicoderm patch to fit my need. Let's say a long party without smoking don't need a full patch. A long drive in a non smoking car , bus ,etc...
Some patches can't be cut , mayonaise clinic might be one of them. Listen jc did you ever give up smoking? How many try's? What was your degree of habit? Cutting my patches fit my need. I'm not afraid of the mayonaise ghost catching me cutting out my nicoderm patches.
I recentley tried something very new, called CHANTIX. I can't say I felt the best while taling it, kinda of made me tired and nause. It works by not letting the nicotine get to the part of the brain that makes it addictive. www.chantix.com You have to get it through your doctor
I don't have any help for you but it is nice to vent to some who feels the way that I do. I have been smoking since I was 15 years old, I am now 37. I suffer from begining stage emphyzima (can't spell to well). I basicly cough up a lung every morning until they unstick. I have tried to quit by using the patch, the inhaler, etc. Nothing has worked for me either. The experts say that smoking is just as big of an addiction as drug use and drinking. If it is, why don't they have smoking rehab. I feel that if I were in a rehab center, away from smoking and the associations for 30 days, with group therapy, etc. I think that I could quit smoking. Someone should come up with a smoking rehab. Well, just a thought. I wish you all the luck and if you find something that truly works, please respond back.
im rly confused here i want to quit so so badly but im afraid, afaid of what my parents will say when they find out afraid of what everyone will think of me when i tell them my secret and afraid i will lose all of my friends for they smoke and i would have to tell where i got the cigarettes from i need help u see i dont want to tell anyone b/c honestly and truly i just turned 13 and its hard for me please please if anyone at all can give me some advice any at all is welcome please help me i need it badly
To Acap, check with your doctor to be sure that any other madications that you are on does not adversly react with Wellbutrin, especially if antidepressants. To Verre, take your negative attitude someplace else. It does not help anyone. To Sunnydays, is there a trusted adult that you can turn to? Perhaps the parent of a friend or school nurse? In most situations, your parent is really the best choice because they have your best interests at heart. Together you can come up with the right way to treat it. Remember, that you may not always see eye-to-eye with mom or dad but they DO love you. I have told my own son (11) that his father and I would like to be the FIRST one he comes to for help. Honesty isn't easy, however it lays a good foundation for earning trust entering the teen years. Good luck to you. And DON'T GIVE UP!!!! :-)
To jc lived a 13 year old kid has been smoking from how long before scaring that person with addicts means of way out. There is a chance that kid has'nt been smoking for that long so cold turkey is my advice to that kid.

Hope i stay strong with staying away from smoking. good luk ppl
I was a smoker for 16 years. I've been smoke free for 1yr 6months. There was a class called "Freedom from Smoking" at my local YMCA and it was held by the American Lung Association. You didn't have to be a YMCA member and the class was totally free. It's a 7 week class (one night a week for an hour and 1/2 for 7 weeks). 7 classes all together. They provide you with 6 weeks worth of FREE NICOTINE PATCHES OR GUM. It's kinda like a little support group. It was awesome. They taught my how to quit. YOU HAVE TO BREAK THE HABIT!!! The patches aren't some miracle patch that will just make you quit. The patches take away the urge to smoke while you work on breaking the habit. You have to replace the habit with something else. you need to figure out the times of day you are smoking and then do something different at that time. For example: If you smoke after every meal, instead of smoking, get up directly from the table and do the dishes or go for a brisk walk or chug a bottle of water, chew a piece of gum, jump in the shower, get down on the floor with your kids. It's all about breaking the habit. I played a game of solitaire on the computer every time I had an urge to smoke. I had a sign on the computer that said "THE URGE WILL PASS WETHER I SMOKE OR NOT" and it will!!!! Hang sign's EVERYWHERE and keep telling yourself that you have the power to quit. You aren't going to let this run your life anymore!!! If I can do it, Anyone can do it!!! P.S. Write a letter to your cigarette's telling them goodbye forever. Because when you smoked as long as I did, It is truly like saying goodbye to an old friend, Your best friend at times, And it is scary!!! But you overcome the fear in about 2 weeks and your confidence starts to take over!!!Hope I could help
