Thank you Dirty Tom....much respect to you and the fierce crew of the Waverunner! You have always been a force to be reckoned with, and I know you will be coming right back after me. I am afraid the Mighty Kyuzo has sailed well beyond my reach, but he knows, deep down I will always be coming for him I may never get there tho lol... The crew has been waxing the plank, we plan to overthrow Sir Peteygo, we will fly our flag high and proud above FIN headquarters ~Dirty Bess Bonney aka ~H2ogirl aka ~Zen

~Sinbad,,,nah, he just likes to be next to me just kidding.... I wanted to ask you, I was thinking about the all-time most valuable dive. Neither of my big guns have dove solo. What skill level do you think I'd need to chance a solo dive, that could get me the record? ~Wettoes,,the crew presses on, they plan a push on HQ tonight, possibly leading to a raid. We have fired the warning shot and it is all hands on deck! An attack on FIN HQ seems eminent at this point, even if we suffer casualities, the bounty shall be worth it!

~zen,
nobees holds the record with his highest ranking diver at 7702 skill. There will be a couple of things that come into play.
1. When you do the dive, will the data collected be the highest of the average? I have been tracking my data acquired and the varience is as much as $170,000 (i.e. one dive gets me $770,000, the next time I dive the two divers same dive only gets me $604,000). Some of this is due to the fact that I'm only sporatically getting the ORI bonus. Which brings me to...
2. ORI bonus. nobees was getting the ORI bonus and that was before the base was dropped to $3.70 per data point. Bonzo had Tara up to 9832 skill but did not best nobees. I have to assume that Bonzo did not try a solo dive and to the best of my memory, was not getting the ORI bonus either.
Mathmatically, 1,022,329 divided by $3.70 would equal 276305 data points. So you would neet to be getting at least that amount of data points before attempting the solo. What I don't know, is the difference in a solo dive vs 2-person dive for points generated. I will run a short test on my test boat if you want to see the difference in a solo and a double diver dive.

sin... If I may add... I think that the type of data received ie, FE/SO/AG/SE/HA etc might also come into play with the amount of research earned on a given dive. I see a lot of variation sometimes on same dives but with different data types. This is not taking any ORI bonus component into account. This for consideration.
I think that if bonz had attempted solos, he could have easily broken nobees record. His 'Ms Tara' had 2000 skill points on Nobees most skilled diver before she met her untimely end. I had forgotten about the price per skill point reduction to the current 3.70. But as zen continues to climb, it won't take very long for her most skilled divers to be in nobees vacinity. Been waitin for somebody to take a shot.

~wettoes,
Good point, I forgot about that. I have been trying to figure an easy way to track that without spending a lot of time I don't have recording.
I ran a couple of test dives on my test boat using divers that were compatable and divers who were not compatable, both were fresh/first dives. One diver did a solo while the non-compatable divers did 2-person dives. Dove on different sharks so no chance of shark fatigue. All 3 divers were within 2-3 skill points of each other at 634 and 636 skill and all at 288 stamina, so discounted that. The difference in the solo dive and the 2-person dive averaged out to 2000 data points LESS for the solo dive. So, my guess would be that if the difference holds true at 10 times the skill then the difference would be somewhere around 20,000 points at 6360 skill or a difference of $74,000. If I were zen, I'd wait until my skill was in the vic of 8000+ before my first attempt.
I'm not sure I'd gamble with a test solo to see where you stand, but since you have 2 big guns, you can send the lesser of the two down and see what you get then average it out to see where you might need to be.

Thanks guys! I think ya'll are right, I should wait. For 3-man dives, with my top 3, I pull in around 180,000 qp's. I dont think it would be much more than that for a higher dive. Ive noticed that the payout for the cage and camera dives pay little more than the catch and release, and decoy dives. Sometimes less. Type of data must play a role. I do have 5 compatable divers, and get the ORI bonus. I am averaging around 500k-600k per dive (playing it relatively safe). I have considered sending Alice down alone to test the waters. I gotta fight that urge atleast until I overtake FIN. What I am doing seems to be working so I am scared to vary my play right now. But my ultimate goal is attainable at this point, even if Jaws jumps in my boat and eats half my crew! (then I may get a little reckless getting a little burned out)

Generally speaking, the Surface dive is just about half of what you get for a 2-person dive. I do 2-person, cage, decoy in that order and range 770-604,000/680-589,000/620-524,000 in that order with my game boat and try all sorts of combination with my test boat trying to figure what equals what.

Evening all:
Tara coveted the most valuable dive, but could never get close. I thought it was because she didn't have a matched researcher, nor did she have the ORI. She did try a solo dive to no avail. At best, it was several $100,000 short. I always thought it was a "perfect storm" sort of event that landed Nobees to that position. After my attempts, he certainly gained respect for the accomplishment.
Zen, Sinbad, good luck. Both Nobees record and Tara's are at risk now. And I am trolling only in the SS Minnow at this point. I shake my head whe I see your researchers stay intact compared to the number of losses I've had recently.

~Bonzo I am shaking my head too,,,I've never had a diver this high before (SR1 included), much less 2 of them,,,and the 3rd is coming along nicely, I also have a 1900/350. Still no where near your top 3 tho, that is mind boggling. If you could not touch it with a 9000 skill then i've got awhile to go. I still anticipate an attack every time I click proceed. I am itching like crazy to do a solo dive! Im just so curious. Alice will be the one. If she doesnt make it, then she will have been eaten on her first solo dive, in over 6000 dives. Gotta fight the urge!

~zen, Back slowly away from the mouse and repeat after me....no solo, no solo, no solo....oh yeah, I forgot, first get a big shot of grog and a carton of thin mints ~Bonz, Do you remember about what month it was that you attempted the high dive? I'm thinking that it was after the Devs lowered the base amount. If that was the case, you were behind the 8 ball before you even attempted the dive... sinbad

I did it...and she survived. Her skill is 6286, the data quality was 191,707. And the payout was $ 709,316. Im not even close, wont be tempted againg for awhile

sin... That was my next question. When was the $ per point lowered to 3.70? And does anyone remember the original value? My Roselyn registered a 559,055 solo with her skill level at 4201 but it was probably at the old value early in SR2
At any rate, it'll be interesting to see how this unfolds

Sinbad, too much of the cheap stuff to be sure; thought it was late spring/early summer. I do recall you making mention of the ratio change, and it was before Tara made her attempt.

Zen, I forgot to mention, it was not long after Tara's solo attempts that she found herself in a shotgun wedding with some fella named Neptune. Bonzo

I must confess of an error made. The change in the data point base price occurred at the beginning of SR2. The previous amount was $8.30 and dropped to $3.70 per point. As for nobees's achievement: quote: Posted 02-23-09 02:40 PM sharkrunners:
nobees has pushed the single dive to $1,000,000 + which I am finding to be a amazing feet. If you view his divers his top diver right now is Eve. Her stats are really something.
Go, go nobees, I want to see how high these two records you hold get to. Congrats again.
jbowles824
He had been making periodic solo dives to test the score. Soon after making the record dive, Eve met her fate. sinbad
