Ok, Ivy has closed the original LA Stinks thread but I would love to hear more from cragar. You say you are an artist and heavily tattooed. Please tell us what you would like to see on a tattoo show. (not how to improve LA Ink because we know how you feel about that one)
How about some shows on the old masters of the art, like Peter De Hann, Sailor Jerry, Ed Hardy, etc. and where the art form is going and where it came from. It doesn't have to be a damned soap opera starring Kat and her kitties. Feature a different artist every week, there's hundreds of them out there. Just my thoughts.
Tattoo Wars- Thurs. 8 PM (EST) in US. On TLC. Showcases other big name and up and coming artists, showing the artistic side of tattooing, especially the sketching process. No fake drama. Great show- needs some of the publicity that they waste on LA Ink! ( Too many commercials, all the time.)
I saw Tattoo Wars last week, and you're right it was definitely nice not seeing all the drama (don't get me wrong, occational drama is fine); I'll be watching it for sure!
i agree with crager and others.. while i love the tattoo concept of the show it is far from realistic. and yes many many great artist out there would be great to see making guest spots..tom renshaw for one
crager, wasn't talking to you on other thread.. it was a lil shot at someone else. and yes you do have the write to voice your opinion.by the way i too am heavily tattooed and been around also.much respect...
Mike Devries is an excellent California artist. Closer to my home state, Michigan, Marshall Bennett and Tom Renshaw, both from Eternal Ink. A very talented Native American, that goes by the name of "Half Pint" who works out of Marvel Tattoo in South Bend, IN. is also excellent. There are to many great people working out there to focus on a couple of ego maniacs.
What no one seems to be hitting on is that this show isn't really about tattoos or skill. This show is about the people giving them and the people wanting them. That is the essence of this "drama" everyone keeps speaking of. If you don't like Kat, then don't get a tattoo from her. If you don't like the show, then don't watch it. Quit wasting the time of everyone who does enjoy this show by complaining.
kinzie; it's not about liking or not liking kat or the show.it's about letting others know these are not the greatest tattooist in the world as suggested by some.nor is this the greatest shop in the world.i know their are many fans of the show and kat, but when industry people or just someone like me who has been involved in tattooing for a long time reads about kat being the best in the world,i feel as others on this thread we have an obligation and right to mention those great artist who paved the way and those great artist taking tattooing to another level who people dont know about.i watch the show; for the work (or lack of being done)but to me the show is very far from reality.
the drama part is on all of these shows it's nonsense but that's usually when I change the channel. The other part of these types of shows I don't care for are when ppl come in to promote stuff ... zzzzzzz aside from that Cory and Hannah steal the show their work is sick !!
