the show wasn't on last week and i see it's not coming on this week either. Did the season end? Just trying to stay tuned. Does anybody know?
P.S. I've seen every episode and love (LOVE!) this show! not sure why anyone would actually take the time to get on a message board to complain about a TV show. just turn the channel. what's the big deal? you haters must be dudes. just kidding. my husband and i both watch the show.
P.S.S. i've never been on a message board before...but thought i would try so i could find out when it's coming back.
iheart I have no idea what you look like but I love you (in a brother sister way) it is refreshing to hear an intelligent woman who is able to put a sentence together without using "Dude" keep up the good work. A lot of people are attracted to Kat because of her looks but I believe that Kat has a painting of herself hidden away someplace and the painting gets uglier every day. Some people will never learn that the true beauty in a person comes from within and sadly they fixate on the outward appearance. Back to the disappearance of the show, maybe the network has decided the bad behavior will only get worst and they will have to deal with the same situation A&E did when the pulled the “Dog” show and they decided to pull the show before it causes further embarrassment

I feel the only thing that can save this show would be to have it be Cory's shop, and let the serious artists do their thing while Kat goes off on her "wanna-be-a-rock-star-groupie" lifestyle she has adopted. That is, get rid of their lead and put someone COMPETENT as the "shop owner". The only thing that makes this show SO BAD is Kat herself! TLC seriously blew it when they decided to set this show around HER, instead of someone more mature and able to actually BE a leader. They just don't have someone as their "star" that really HAS that quality. It's really too bad - she had a HUGE opportunity to ENHANCE her reputation as an artist...and all she did was make a huge trainwreck out of it. I am SO glad that we get 13 weeks of Miami Ink, and a vacation from the mess that replaces it . I had a few friends that only watch it to see just how she will continue on her downward slide...and now they don't watch anymore...they just don't care. Her filthy reputation has turned them off completely. (I gave up about halfway through the first season...couldn't take any more.) TLC needs to revamp this mess, or just cancel it.

At first I liked Kat. The trouble is the more you get to know her persona or whatever it is the less likable she becomes. The Anti-Semite hate mail thing to Ami James was the icing on the cake. Not to mention her lies about it.
I've always gotten a certain vibe from Kat. Might I add, not a good one. You're right that there is certainly a depiction of her that grows more gruesome by the day. She's not who she was on Miami Ink and she's probably not at all who she was before TV made her famous. It's different with the guys at MI, they never really act like they're "the new thing in Hollywood", they're grounded people running a shop the way a shop should be operated.
Also, I agree with you on the issue of judging and outward appearance. I think tattoos are the most amazing thing since sliced bread. Seriously, to be able to give someone a work of art they can wear the rest of their life, is just incredible and should not be taken lightly. Sadly, it is still taboo. Shows like Miami Ink can help open the door to acceptance and respect for the art. Shows like LA Ink open the doors to shame and examples of how not to run a business. Shut that door and lock it.
I agree as far as the drama on the show overshadowing the art BUT there are some very talented tattoo artists on LA Ink. I have watched Miami Ink & I am soooo not impressed with the "talent" that they supposedly have. As far as I can see those guys have no originality,
I don't think you will get much disagreement that there are talented tattooists on the show. I do think the biggest issue, if not the only issue, people have with this show is Kat and her inability to act like a grown-up. If this show were to lose her, it would increase the valididty of the show immensely. Trying to knock down the guys at MI is a pointless endevour. I will say the as far as drama on MI, Chris G. seems to be the most grounded followed by Darrin. The other 2 sometimes not so much so, with poor Yoji caught in the middle. As far as originality, how can you say that a freehand tat by Ami is not original but a Kat tracing is.? We can appreciate your attempt to defend Kat and the show by putting down MI, like those Kat defenders that have come before you, made their post and left. thanks for stopping by.
A side note for the rest of us. If we really want the show to go away, don't contact TLC, contact their sponsors. Hit them in the wallet by telling them they are wasting their money if they think advertising with this show is a good idea. Also, "if you watch it, and comment about it, they will just keep making it". Whether you like the show or not. But really, who doesn't like watching a train wreck (or NA$CAR crashes.!!)

You can't be serious. You think Kat is anywhere near the artist Chris Garver is? Its common knowledge that Garver is one of the best.
My girlfriend and I DVR LA Ink and watch it when we're winding down after work. Through the second season, I have to say that I've noticed Kat on a downward spiral What's really shocking is that I can come to a public forum and find fans feeling almost the same thing. There must be some truth to it... So what is going on with the show and her? We love the artists on both Miami Ink and La Link but we find ourselves more and more not liking certain peoples personalities (KAT)on LA Ink. I guess this show is not for us. Its a shame though because we loved the first season. I know there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes, but someone at TLC better start showing it, because the picture that is being painted is not pretty. I've made it a point to keep friends like this out of my life, and I don't think I'll continue to watch a TV show about someone with similar problems. Keep that stuff where it belongs, on shows like Intervention. In the meantime, its time to reset the DVR.
Scott - Welcome to the forum! I and some others, come here to SERIOUSLY discuss LA Ink and what can be done to MAKE IT A BETTER SHOW...not neccessarily just to bash or defend its stars. Your well-written post is like a breath of fresh air from a new-comer (Most just come on to bash the stars -or us ...please feel free to contribute any time you wish!
Thank you for the kind words and welcome. After re-reading my post it comes off a little harsher than I intended. We all know that this show offers but a brief glimpse into Kat and Co. lives. Perhaps Kat is a wonderful and beautifully flawed person like the rest of us, but if that's the case its the job of the people who produce the show and the guys behind the camera to show it. But then again, they could be shooting it as they see it. While one would have to appreciate that honesty, its a different story keeping people interested in watching it. Not many people like watching TV shows about characters they're dissapointed in unless they're tuning into the E Network.
You're welcome! Unfortunately, seeing only a glimpse of Kat Von D's life (as depicted on the show and as blogged and/or interviews BY HER on various internet sites) has been enough to turn off more than a few fans. One would think that TLC would do some creative editing and staging to skew things to appear a little more positive than they have appeared so far. But then again, maybe they already are...we really don't know just how BAD things really are, do we? (It wouldn't be in their best interest to ever skew things towards a negative slant...) TLC loves the drama...good and bad. But seeing the continuing (and increasing) BAD vibe out there about their lead (but NOT the supporting players) should give them pause to re-think this whole thing.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills... are we watching the same show? How is it a badly run business? How does Kat set a bad example? How has anything she's done so far warrant closing her shop doors and canceling the show?
Please start backing up your comments with specific references and proof, thanks.
Okay Mahram, if you would read this forum, you would see several posts regarding Kat's poor work ethics and lack of management skills. We provided you with lots of evidence if only you would just read what many others have ALREADY POSTED A HUNDRED TIMES.
For whatever it's worth in the first season I think I saw every show at least twice. This year I've seen two shows. At least 3 times a week I'll scroll thru the channel guide, but rarely find the show on multiple times like I did in the past. I'm late to the party I understand and haven't checked over the site so I'm guessing London Ink got the gong?
iheart - all I'm seeing are continued complaints of those things you're mentioning without specific references or examples. Tell me of a particular instance of bad management that's been shown. Tell me of a specific example of 'poor work ethics.' All I see is someone who is good at what they do, busting their butt and being successful in their field - what's so bad about that?
Where is this 'horrible person' you all keep talking about?
It isn't too hard to find, if you take the trouble to find it, I usually don't like to spoon feed information to a person too lazy to search for it.
However if you take the time to search you will find discussions about unsafe / unclean conditions in the show. There are many episodes shown where she wound up missing an appointment, she even did it to her own father

I have made a discovery, the people that run this site are very worried about Kat's image. Any posts that have a mention reguardin the use of liquids that are considered "adult" will or edited. The owners of this place have the right to do anything they want but I wish they would be upfront and let us know why topics are off limits. The fact that these topics are off limits in my opinion are a mistake. They people that run this place may be able to prevent discussion about a topic but not talking about something will not make it go away. If factthe best way to address a problem is to meet it in the open and talk about the problem
Ok - late to work. Fair enough - that's a poor work ethic. Now, if it was shown that she consistently misses appointments, then I'd say you're onto something here.
I'm not gonna sift through every bile-spewing thread that's popped up in this forum. From what I've seen from the first couple pages or so is the same instances of what I mentioned above - terribly judgmental attitudes and complaints without reference or specificity.
What the majority of you seem to be doing is appointing yourselves judges, juries and executioners of Kat without even knowing all the details of what's going on in her life. Most of this stuff isn't even any of our business. There seems to be this crusade against someone most of you have never even met or been around personally.
Sure - editors load on the drama, and most of that I can do without myself, personally. I don't care for any of that stuff, I just watch the show for the tattoos. You've all been hoodwinked, I think, by clever editing. You've all seen examples of what editing can do to make a person's persona or actions seem way out of context.
As to everything else - so far it all seems like a bunch of gossipy tabloid rumors, heresay, he-said / she-said type of trash.
If you don't want to bother with reading posts that give the exact evidence you're looking for, then that's your problem.
We have stated many times her poor shop management skills. "What?" you ask! For the 344,564,534th time, she smokes in the shop, she has skate ramps built next to the tattoo stations, she lets her cats roam around, she drinks while tattooing, doesn't always wear gloves, I could on and on...
Why would the editors want to paint a picture of her in a negative light? For your information, Mahram, I have spoken with Kat and I will say right now that she is tremendously childish. She is a sweet girl if she likes you, but she doesn't have a clue on how to be an adult.
Like I said before, your true colors will always shine through no matter how much editing is done. Whether she wrote that hate letter or not, it's only natural for people to talk about it and question if it's true.
thanks for the info about the show. since i was on here, i researched and discovered that the season ended. i like the current line-up of participants in this show and hope it comes back as is! Kat is the best part of the show to me! she's an interesting person, flawed or not...she makes the show! anyway, thanks to everyone who added to this thread.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with Kat. You can't expect her to be perfect. No one is, and no one will ever be. People make mistakes. Whether you accept that or not is your own decision.
