My husband and I just bought a house to flip. It is in a predominantly african american area. Should we make the carpet and wall color neutrals so a person can move in and not have to worry if their furniture matches or should we use some more richer color to make it stand out? By richer I donot mean bright or gaudy I mean deaper in color. Thanks, julie
Some color is OK in the non master bedrooms as well as the non master baths. The main living spaces I would keep neutral. The kitchen is great space for color, counter tops, flooring, back splashes, and appliances. There isn't much wall space left. It also depends on the availabilty of natural lighting as well. In a well lit room if you put color in there, the imperfections in the wall may stand out. The safe way is alway a FLAT neutral color because it hides the imperfections.
I think the best way to go is to stay with a neutral color throughout the house. I finished a flip and was told the neutral tones gave it a "homy feeling". Good luck!
