Professor R. McNeill Alexander is a biomechanics specialist and professor emeritus at University of Leeds, UK. Alexander's research on the mechanics of human and animal movement has included theories that estimated dinosaur speeds from fossil footprints. He has also investigated the movements of jellyfishes, fish, frogs, birds, dogs, horses, antelopes and elephants. He is the author of many books including Animal Mechanics, Dynamics of Dinosaurs, Animals and the Human Machine.
