it seems meerkats are being replaced by orangutans. i dont particularly care for orangutangs, and LOVE my mkats so much, i cant let them go!
does anyone have the answer? this seems unacceptable, its undescribable.

I never realy liked them myself. I watched 2 eposodes yesterday they were ok but they wernt as exciting as the meerkats . . .

Yay, I miss the meerkats, too. I LOVE the show and orangutans, but not even CLOSE to how much i love meerkats and MM!!! The good news is, MM is coming back!

Of caurse MM is coming back! They do a new season every year. If they left there would be ALOT of complaints from MM lovers.

Waiting for my meerkats to start for season 4. I don't like the way they are claiming the orangutans are the new meerkats. This is a joke. They will never take the place of my MEERKAT MANOR and all of the meerkats. They go and feed these animals and seems like they watched Mozart, Kinkaju and Whoopie all but starve. Please help me get over these feelings -- I am trying to be positive.

Ishould have clarified that people go to the island and take food for the orangetans. I think this is okay, but I did not see them feed Mozart, Carlos, Kinkaju or Squiggy when they could not find food. Oh! forgive me. I will hush and think good thoughts till Season 4 starts.

hi Shoogy1, here's what I think the reasons are that they are feeding the orangutans and not the meerkats

Reasons for not feeding Meerkats
1- They are wild animals who have the benefit of adults teaching them how to find food
2- Their food (scorpions, millipedes) are found in their environment
3- This is a research project to learn about their life in the wild to better understand them and their actions.

Reason for feeding the Orangutans
1- They have been raised in captivity and did not have their parents there to teach them how to find food
2- I didn't see any fruit (bananas, oranges, or green vegetables) growing anywhere on that island so their food isn't available anywhere around them
3- This is a conservation project, to increase the number in the population that has been quickly disappearing due to poachers and their natural habitat being cut down, so every individual counts in this (not that every individual meerkat doesn't count, but as a species they are doing a lot better than orangutans are)

well, it does, but i looked at my menu (tv) and over half this weeks shows are episodes of o' island!!!!!! grrrrrrr! i dont watch it

Dark,I'm a little more than shocked.My BSFF,insulting the show that I happen to love as much as MM?I agree,It's bad commercailizing.But let's not blame the Orangs.They had nothing to do with it.Only blame the commercail.The people who made it just wanted it to become as popular as MM.I missed the first episode because of that comercail.I managed to catch a rerun.I watched the second and it was fantastic!Dark,If you watch just one episode you can learn to at least be okay with it.I don't like the commercail,but that dosen't mean I don't like the series.It's great!It still has the drama of death.They aren't watched all the time.Poor Oy-oy.

You're right, Shoogy, nobody has saved the meerkats in their time of need! Did they feed poor Mozart? No! Did they heal dying Flower? No! Did they feed the orangutans? Yes! Did they heal [don't remember her name... Guessing] Nadi? Yes! Actauly, what's drama if you know that they are going to get help?

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Meerkat Manor is the MOST SUCESSFUL show Animal Planet has produced... EVER! So I have heard... From a little birdie [LOL]... I think that, if the ratings DO drop, that they will at least give the meerkats a chance. ALL HAIL THE GLORIOUS MEERKAT REIGN!!! [LOL]

I, just in case, have taken ovasive actoin! Watching it whenever I can when Meerkat Manor repeats come on. You KNOW when you're watching a show too much when the repeats start to repeat! [LOL]

One time, I was watching AP, and I had a plastic cup in my hand, on the couch, being lazy [LOL]. That comercial came on, about orangs being the new meerkats. I dropped my book and crushed my cup, all the time keeping a some-what straight face. I swear, one time I'm going to attack the TV! [LOL]
