Can anyone help me with how to faux paint cabinet doors to sort of resemble wood or wood color. I have seen them do it where it kinda looks like dark wood stain. I beleive it is a base coat with a glaze....can anyone help? I want a fairly dark look, but with the redish hue.
Thanks, Carolyn

Did you get an answer on how to accomplish the faux wood painting. I am also interested in doing this - but to a door.

We were in an episode of TS in March 2006. Genevieve did something like this with two end tables in our room. They were kind of a reddish (stained) wood and she took a flat black paint, painted a small portion of the table black, and then immediately wiped the paint off. Repeat process on the whole table. I later got two end table cheap somewhere (this time for our bedroom). I actually painted the tables a brown base coat first (the lightest wood shade that was in our stained bed...not that it's different stained shades, just kind of multi-tonal if you know what I mean), and then did the black paint treatment. It's wierd how much like wood streaks the black paint really looks. My base paint was maybe a satin finish so the paint would slide off a little easier. Overall, though, a very easy process. And even easier if you don't do the base paint coat first. Good luck!
