A couple of years ago. Hildi remodeled a kitchen. She painted the walls yellow and then glued tissue paper on the walls. Does anyone remember how she did that. What kind of glue did she use and does it need to be a certain kind of tissue paper...

you are kidding right? You do realise you are talking about a kitchen where it can get greasy, etc. Why put something like that on the walls. If you truly want to copy one of her whack ideas why not do the treatment in another room other than a kitchen or bathroom.

I saw Edward do that technique on a wall in a repeat about a week ago, and he stopped after one wall because it was horrible to put up and if it isn't done right-it looks like tissue paper on the wall. Cher is right, don't do it in the kitchen. Cleaning it will probably destroy the wall. and I would worry, if there was a fire, the tp would just help it burn faster. Look at paint techniques like venetian plaster or other faux finishes for the wall.

I saw this done (years before Trading Spaces did it) in a bathroom at a restaurant and they coated the walls with something that allowed the tissue paper design to be seen but clear-laquered it like decoupage so it could be cleaned. it was beautiful and i've always intended to do it in a room some day. don't be discouraged by these negative comments! there is always a a way!
