Does anyone know how this show works? I mean, I'm assuming its just Bear and one camera man. If so, how does the cameraman survive? And how does he climb around and take pictures of Bear while hes climbing around? Does the cameraman have supplies that bailes Bear out sometimes, or does herefuse any help? If the cameraman has to do everything Bear does AND do it with gear, the he should have his own show! I'm not criticizing, I love the show. I just want to know how it works. If anyone knows how it works (I mean really, please no spouting off just becuase you think your an expert [see that alot here...]) then please make a post! -BG fan

This is what Bear said on during his chat with Discovery and fans of the show:
retzl90: Who films the show, and how do they follow you?
Bear: The camera guy and the guy doing the camcorder in many ways are the real heroes of the show and have worked so hard for me behind the scenes. Simon and Paul have become good friends over the series and have had a great adventure along the way. It was funny — they started out going "Bear, that was great" or "That was radical" and by the end, it was "Yawn, yawn, another snake!" They're great guys, and really close friends.
Lee: Enjoyed the show! How does the camera crew impact your actions while in a hostile environment?
Bear: They're under very strict instructions not to get involved or help unless my life is in danger, and tend to keep that distance. Having said that, they're right there with me in almost everything and have done some great climbs, etc. that tend to go unnoticed.
******************************************* My assumpiton is that the camera guys carry ropes, food, first aid, and are relatively accomplished mountaineers themseleves, and largely take care of themselves.

I posted a link about this from someone who worked the show but Discovery seems to be editing that stuff now.
They have an entire crew. Bear and the crew stay at hotels and motels during the shoot.

Good God! Who do we know that can climb and survive AND carries his own camera gear? You ask if the Cameraman gets his own show because you say he obviously survives and climbs the same terrain as Bear and also carries the camera ... I think he may of HAD has own show.

I have been majoring in filmography for two years in college now. You would not believe how heavy those camers can get! I'm pretty sure that the camera crew (there are at least three people for lighting, sound, and the actual filming) have an easier time getting around than "Bear" does. If they actually followed his every move, they would be in way better shape then him. Plus there must be food for them somewhere.
