Thank you so much to everyone who has written in to me since the last season of Man vs. Wild. Your support means so much, especially since I am away filming so much of the year.

I am so proud of season 2 of the show, which returns on Friday. It has taken a lot of hard graft to make. It's much more intense as well as intimate, and there's no doubt that I was pushed to my own limits this time. But I hope that together we can keep spreading the message of the great outdoors.

Thanks again for watching and keep your thoughts coming in.

As for me, it's such a relief to have delivered another season and still be in one piece!

i just have to add

good luck and i hope to see a good informative show.

and if you get a chance can you clear up if this is season two part two?( episodes 7 8 9 ect)
or season 3 ( episodes 1 2 3 ect)

or should it be considered season two episodes 1 2 3 and we should do our best to forget the stuff from before?

I am such a fan of the show! I've always enjoyed the Discovery Channel, but never so much as I do now since you have come abord with Man v. Wild. You've accomplished so much and done so many great things that you have definitely become a hero of mine, and hopefully to all my friends to whom I have turned into Bear Grylls fans. So excited for the new season, you're wicked awesome, just stay alive for another season!

Bear-

I just saw on the news you are in Denver. If you have some time, I'd like to invite you to fly in the wind tunnel, Skyventure Colorado. It is a skydiving simulator. Shoot me an e-mail at Derek@skyventurecolorado.com if you are interested.

The Sahara looks desolate, but Everest...you saw space! The top part of your camera showed black, no blue in it...that is VERY desolate, in the gear you were in, it's about as far as you can push life, and an amazing camera view I have never seen from Everest. I would like to go there some day if I am able.

Big Grin Hello Mr. Grylls,
Just wanted you to know that I and my family love your show, especially my five year old daughter Hannah, who refers to you lovingly as " the naked guy who eats bugs and eyeballs". that episode where you found the sheep carcass and took its eye and meat and cooked it in the volcanic water she still talks about. We did explain that this is what one would have to do if caught in such a situation, but she rambles to this day that ' she want you to come to our home for dinner so he no has to eat bugs no more." She also says you are cute. I and my husband have told her that you are just showing use what we would have to do to surrvive, and tonight we saw the saharra ( friday), and at the end, she got all grossed out at the dead camel poo water bit. gotta do what you gotta do i guess. Well Mr. naked guy who eats bugs, we support your efforts to show us, the non adventurous types, what we would have to do to stay alive, and thank you for all youve taught us. Hubby says you should try the game show Fear factor, you would probibly win... Roll Eyes
at any rate, good job, Bear. I'll try to get Hannah to refer to you as your propper name, as hubby says he hopes she doesnt go to school and blabber about the ' naked guy' she saw on tv.. *sighs*
Good job and good luck,
The Starner Family

Dear Mr. Grylls,
This our first time writing. We were soooo angry when they took you off and we thought you wouldn't come back! We don't care about you not staying out there all the time. Like I told some friends of mine and they had to agree, "Unless someone has done everything he has WHO has the right to judge??!! I say WHOO HOO!!! HE'S BACK!!! I and my family wouldn't miss one of your episodes for ANYTHING! WELCOME BACK!!! PLEASE don't end up like the Crocodile Hunter- PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! We'd rather see you quit an episode than risk being killed! OK? Your family comes first! May God bless you and keep you safe!
Most Sincerely,
The Pastores

I'm from NYC, your typical city girl. My friends and I always talk about the episodes the next day. Yes, some even around the water cooler,LOL.
Before your show I was aware that a person could build a fire but didn't even have the slightest clue how. Sad, I know. But your show actually made me want to go into the woods and see how it feels to go against nature. Because of your show my friends and I to went on our very first camping trip(We are all in our late 20's. What an experience!!! I actually built a fire (thx to your teachings)- it might sound corny but it was the proudest moment for me!!
I can't express how much I enjoy your show!! I am so glad to know that there are new episodes coming soon. Honestly, I don't even mind watching the repeats.

Bear -
Okay, i enjoy your show. First season was fantastic, however, I started to hear rumors regarding how your crew influences your survival.
Can you specifically lay out the "rules" you have established for this show... or are there none?
Also, assuming the crew occasionally assists in your survival, do you feel that you are "teaching" us the best survival techniques (for someone stranded alone) if they are based on different criteria... ie Bear will build a shelter, but with the help of his crew... well, perhaps you should have planned the usage of your time more wisely because now if we mirror your decisions we are likely put in a bad situation (without the help of our crew).
Sorry to be such a party pooper but I just want to know the full extent of what you go through. Love the Mt. Everest special...

One more thought - is the show purely for entertainment? I guess I'm looking for a MvW mission statement.

Hope for your success,
- A fan on the edge

Also, how does the network view MvW and Survivor Man? Are they hedging their bets or do they appeal to different demographics?

Bear,

I discovered your show some time last year and CANT KEEP MY EYES OFF IT! You are a great and natural host, it is refreshing to see someone of your courageous and honest spirit on tv these days. It's hard to filter thru all of the junk on tv, I rarely watch... ( except for Man vs. Wild that is)!

I am a camerwoman myself and am always wondering how Simon Reay, your DP, accomplishes what he does. I will enjoy more behind the scenes on Man vs. Wild, if possible. I am always like that can't be real.. that must be a stunt ( having worked on many film sets, sometimes it is hard for me to believe...)

If you ever need a lady behind the camera, I would love to be a part of your show. I guess I'll send my reel to Discovery channel for that...

Keep up your great inspiring work and be safe!

Sincerely,
ralimage

I love your show! You teach everyone so much about survival in the wild. Don't be discouraged by all those critics who say your show is fake. Your stunts are real, the advice you give is real and you really are out there teaching everyone about survival.

Your show WAYYY BETTER THAN survivor man!!!

Dear Bear,
At first it seemed like Discovery was going to drop your great show. If there wasn't already there would have been a major outcry if you show was cancelled.

We in our house are very happy to see you back at it with a new season. It is great to have both you and Survivorman. There is enough room for both of you living off the land in different exotic places.

The best to you and your family.

I just enjoyed your newest foray to Everest, believe me, it had me on the edge of my seat and at one point had me covering my eyes. Your shows are wonderful. I am so very glad to see you are safely back. I just wanted you to know that two of my favorite shows you have done in the past were the ones you did in the Moab, Utah deserts and the one on the Big Island of Hawaii. Why? I used to live in the Moab area for almost 30 years and love that desert well. And still, people get lost and die there, ignoring all the warnings and have not researched the area or what to do. As for the Hawaiian one, I now live in Hawaii and, yet again, people get lost and stranded on that island as well.

Keep up the excellent work you to, to help others understand how to survive in certain situations, your work for the children in Africa, and to spread the message of the great outdoors and all that it does have to give us and to protect it.

I dont know how you eat some of the things you do. This year i got introduced to skydiving and am completly addicted now. I just got my A licens. Every time i see you skydive in your shows it gets my adrenaline pumping. It is such an amazing experiance.

Hi Bear !!!

I'm a fan of u and I have seen all ur episodes. I'm really impress about the techniques u use to survive in all climates and places. U should go to Chiapas, Mexico in that jungle. I think is a really extreme place to visit. I'm sure for next season u're going to be in other extreme climates and places. Keep going and I think ur show is great

Love the show Bear! Keep up the good work. The "increased transparency" is a good thing. How else would we have known that your camera crew were dropping like flies in the Sahara? *grin*

Wow.

Every single comment is positive- the mods must be editing this thread like crazy.

The TRUTH is, Bear, many people are still deeply offended by the controversy.

The original episodes, when compared to the new transparencies, reveal a startling amount of deception. It seems you didn't catch any fish (or any other prey) and much of the show was staged.

And in the new episodes, I've yet to see anything that reveals much survival training. Why did they bring in a cobra just so you could confront it and shake a stick at it? And the way you keep eating bugs, I keep expecting to see Joe Roagan come out and the FEAR FACTOR logo to come on the screen.

This thread is like a super-censored korean election rally for Kim Jong. "Oh we love you great leader!"
