Your advice saved three kids who were just starting their lives. I was in the Coast Guard and have suffered from hypothermia. I never knew to get out of the clothes. Thank you and God that that kid in New York did. He not only saved his own life but those of his two friends. Three young lives that might have been lost had it not been for your show. Talk about a paycheck! Congratulations.

Well you really do a great show and here is more proof because of one of your shows about surviving if you fall into a frozen lake, you saved the lives of three kids . They implemented your directions and now their alive and safe. Thank you for being a hero and keep up the outstanding work

For the first time I am actually seriously concerned that the BS garbage passed out as “survival advice” on this show will cost someone their life. For Christ’s sake people, get some survival advice from a credible source. Don’t be a fool and do something just because you saw someone do it on TV. DON’T TAKE OFF YOUR FR!GGIN CLOTHES IF YOU FALL THROUGH THE ICE. It’s the wrong thing to do, contact your local S&R people or EMTs. Get the facts from someone who has been trained to deal with these types of situations.

That's because you generally don't. All synthetics and some natural fibers (wool, for example) keep you warm while wet. Cotton is one of the few things you should remove when it's wet, and if you're out there in the middle of winter playing on a frozen lake while wearing cotton clothes, well, you're just asking for trouble.

Please don't mistake people surviving despite bad advice for surviving because of bad advice.

Bear did not save anyone . . . He was not personally there . . . his advise was wrong for the situation . . . and it was the person that called 9-1-1 and the EMTs and firemen (I think they were there) that saved their lives . . . Give credit where credit is actually due . . .

I am so proud of season 2 of the show, which returns on Friday. It has taken a lot of hard graft to make. It's much more intense as well as intimate, and there's no doubt that I was pushed to my own limits this time. But I hope that together we can keep spreading the message of the great outdoors.

Thanks again for watching and keep your thoughts coming in.

As for me, it's such a relief to have delivered another season and still be in one piece!

Regardless of how your shows are filmed,or what you do. I have you in the highest regard as a Survivalist! Your Critic's in my opinion are WANNABE'S,or simply have nothing better to do. My fondest wish for you is that you maintain "COMMON SENSE IN ALL SITUATION'S WHILE FILMING,AND NOT LET THE NEED FOR HIGHER RATING'S CAUSE YOU TO LOSE YOUR LIFE!!!" The Young Fellow from Australia that loved his Crocodiles was often dangerously close to the animal's he loved so much. Often I would cringe and pray for him and his family because he was often dangerously close in order to maintain the rating's of his TV show. I want you to SURVIVE,..and not become a statistic or sad note in my memory! I like your show more than Survivor Man. Survivor Man is good, but your demonstration's are much more informative for my needs. I am ex Navy and my father was U.S. Army S.F.,Vietnam. LIVE TO TELL YOUR STORY,DON'T BE THE STORY OTHERS TELL!

So you believe everything you see on TV? If you really think about it, most of what is on TV is fake or could not happen, and that's not even thinking hard.

You people are disgusting, how can you people watch this show? 'Bear' Grylls kills wild animals just for entertainment. People like 'Bear' Grylls help animal species to their extinction. 'Bear' Grylls is also a nature destroyer, breaking, pulling and taking things from nature just to keep his show alive and the people entertained. You people make me sick for supporting this behavior.

Okay, I know the show gives out bad advise, but I think you go a bit over the edge. He's only killed bugs, fish, maybe a small reptile or two and rabbit. I don't think any of those are going to their extinction any time soon, especially the rabbit, you know what they do best! haha. And he is showing you (well ATTEMPTING to show you) how to survive if you have nothing, so how is he supposed to show you how to hunt something, if he doesn't kill the animal he is "hunting"? And what has he destroyed in nature? The only thing I see him taking are fruits off of trees.

Though I do think the karate chop to the rabbit after he killed it was a bit much, but it was already dead so it doesn't really matter.

Bear:

I've watched your show a few times. I must say I'm amazed at some of the stupid crap you do. The episode where you "floated" down a river on the raft and you could clearly see the ROAD above you. Duh get outta the water and walk on the road! You may have some ability from your military training, but any one whose ever really survived in the woods will tell you to keep yourself dry. You always go hopping into the nearest stream. Geeze, dude are you trying to kill yourself?

I'm not impressed.

It blows me away that there are people who think watching this show, qualifies them to go take on Mother Nature.

"I'm going to climb Everest" Eventhough I have no sponsorship, but I read Bear's book, so I'm good to go."

"I'm going on a exploration of the Appalachian Mountains" Eventhough it covers 14 eastern states and I have no clue even how to get water, I saw Bear's show, so I'm well informed."

Bear- how does it feel to inspire people to ignore the fact that their skills are lacking and the incompetance will surely get themselves injured or risk their life? Does it not bother you that you would have their blood on your hands?

Never once does he say, go to these places and do this. He says, if you are found stranded or if you find yourself in this situation do this. He does not inspire people to do this he saves their lives so you can f*ck off

You are right . . . he does not say, "Go out there without food or equipment and do what I do on my show." . . . However he does tell people that have no climbing experience to climb in a survival situation. This will most certainly lead to death. There is always another direction to go that avoid climbing. Also, he does not tell people not to go out and do what he does on the show.

Look in these forums . . . you say he does not inspire people to go out and do what he does? Haha . . . you are wrong . . . there are many people that have posted things like, "I think I'm going to go hiking with just my knife and my water bottle and see how I do."

Lastly, why tell people to f*ck off? Why be so hostile? There is no need for it.

daleksec . . . this is what I am talking about. Instead of reading several different people's idea on survival, he reads only Bear's thoughts and wants to go out with less equipment . . . Bear does not inspire?

Ha Ha That's an intelligent arguement.
You proved your skill level at the english language to. Big Grin

But that's right you believe he's not a phony. A quote comes to mind over that one, "The trust of the innocent is the liar's most useful tool" S.K.

Even from his website there's an interview of Bear Grylls in Outsider Magazine that he admits to staging his show, getting help from his crew, sleeping in base camp.

http://www.beargrylls.com/media/beargryllsoutsidemagazine.pdf

Use the find button to research this forum alone, how many members have stated Bear inspires, teaches, or that they learned something from this show. Or you can read through the numerous pages of "ask Bear Grylls" thread to find out your statement above is not based on facts. In fact it was pretty hard to decipher exactly what you were saying.

Man vs Wild's tagline is "Watch Learn Survive" In your opinion what is Bear teaching? Please give exact examples of how he saves their lives?

o.k...... number one, some people could say he is a phony, he may recieve support from the crew, etc every now and then, but the point is, is that he puts his life on the line nearly all the time.

Number two...... He does not intensionally inspire people to go out and do this stuff. When he says watch learn survive, it could mean many things, it could mean, watch my show, learn the skills. hen go out and do them or it could mean watch my show, learn the techniques, so if you find yourself stranded you can use them. He probably means the second one as in many episodes that i have seen, he has said, if you find yourself stranded. It is other people's faults if they go to these places, thinking that his techniques are all they need. He tries to help people, in fatal situations, not put them into fatal situations.

Number three.... dark house... you say that he tells people to climb with no experience, even when there are other ways. O.K i do have to agree that he does climb on many occasions, but i can remember him stating that he is an experienced climber, and that on many occasions, you should only do this as a last resort. Maybe, in some cases, there could be other ways to get around.. i am no survival expert, but many times, bear specifically states that climbing is the only way. If you just stay where you are, stranded, you will die, so climbing, which could result in death, is not so bad seeing as on many occasions, if you dont climb, you die.

Hi Bear umm I am a really big fan of yours. My friends always yell at me when ever I talk about you. Last summer I was in a motel with my family (BOY! Did it smell bad!) Well the heater was broken and so it was soo cold in the room. While everybody is hudling with eachother (they were breathing soo heavily) I was in a coner as warm as can be because un-like them I was not freaking out over the cold because I was not doing what they were doing.....Sorry if you read this Bear and if I board you to death.....Well nothing else to type soo I guess by for now...

I really don't care for your show at all.

You remind me of a child pretending he is in a rainforest daring the greatest dangers, when really he is in his own backyard. In your case, a National Park, or near a Hotel or Highway.

Your survival advice is horrible to say the least, and may end up getting someone killed.

Congratulations.
