Hey everyone! I have a "perfet complexion" from what my friends tell me. I hardly ever get zits/pimples and I have never had an acne problem. Just a while ago, I got a pimple on my chin. That zit is pretty much a gonner. Now, a new one has formed right next to the other one. My friend said she knows a girl that uses toothpaste. And just today I watched a cartoon show that used toothpaste to destroy an evil zit. Can toothpaste actually get rid of a zit for good? And if it can, what kind is suggested? Frown

I would be careful before using toothpaste on a zit. I've never actually tried it, but I've heard from some people who have that it did terrible things to their skin! Instead, try grinding up aspirin, adding water, and dabbing it on the pimple overnight. It will take away the redness and unlike acne creams you get at the store, it wont dry your skin. If you do use toothpaste, though, don't use too much or leave it on too long.

i have used toothpaste to spot treat and found it very successfull. Something to keep in mind, do it at night and let it stay on just the pimnple over night- it will dry it up, but also the skin around if your not carefull. Also it doesnt get rid of the red, so do it at night so it dries up, and then swab it with some visine to reduce redness!

Well i have used toothpaste too. It is really effective made mt pimples disappear but left the scars of the pimples on my face. Recently i found an acne scar treatment that i have been using since the last three weeks and i find the scars lightening. i think that you will need this too.

Toothpaste is a nice home remedy for acne.

But if you want to treat acne and renew your skin you can use root water ( Chinese medicine ).
Root water is known to force the skin to renew facial tissues.

The jury is out on whether or not toothpaste should be used as an acne spot treatment. I've been researching acne and skin health for ages and have come across medical professions on either side. The reason to stay away from it would be that it is can be very irritating to the skin and some doctors believe it has the ability to do more harm than good (mostly since not all ingredient levels are the same).

Since things vary from brand to brand, and skin sensitivity varies from person to person, one user applying one brand may see phenomenal results while another may experience adverse effects. This is why sticking to something specially formulated for use on skin is better overall. Just think about it - teeth are less likely to become irritated by things you put on them. Cold or hot, for example, but drying elements won't cause pain. Skin is very different though.

Now speaking of drying... the way toothpaste would work is by dehydrating the pimple and absorbing the oil. Don't use gel toothpaste. The ingredient which is likely responsible for drying out the acne lesion is only contained in cream toothpastes. Also, be careful to only use it on the spot itself, to minimalise any irritation or skin bleaching.

The advice jinxedl is great because, actually, the active component of aspirin is salicylic acid - an acne treatment ingredient we all know and love Smile. With all of this said, I'd really just stick to products formulated specifically for acne to be safest. And, if it is not a "product" for acne (as would be the case with using aspirin, for example) then at least something that is known to be safe if applied topically. I read an article about a great benefit of toothpaste to the skin. It's because of some vitamins that contains on it. That is nice but we all know that toothpaste is made for our teeth. I mean toothpaste is for teeth, there are many products out there that can help your problem. I can suggest you a product that will cure that some facial cleanser and facial wash that will clean your face. Just go to the boutique and try out some good product.

Toothpaste can can work to dry up a pimple, the paste kind not the gel. And there is no need to give the corporations your hard-earned money for official products...there are lots of good home remedies.

I've had a lot of luck with a combination of aspirin and Manuka honey treatments. Take a look at this for a good way to cure pimples.

It really works.

For a blemish-free, pimple-free vibrant skin:- Soak basil seeds overnight in water. (Half a teaspoon is sufficient cos basil expands within minutes). A small glass will do. It needn't be full to the brim. Have it early in the morning, preferably on an empty stomach. It also cures heartburn, constipation and indigestion. It basically keeps you cool.
