Ok here's the deal. All of these solutions are only temporary. The actual problem is bacteria that is on your skin. That is why some of these solutions clear it up for a while but it comes back. That is also why sitting for long periods of time seem to aggravate the condition. Some of the solutions are quite stupid. (bleach was not meant for skin and cleaning your toilet come on!!) Some have used typical acne treatments with benzoyl peroxide & it tends to aggravate the condition.
The actual solution is Ery 2% pads (Erythromycin is an antibiotic). They are small pads that you rub on the affected area. You can get a prescription from your Dr. Use 2-3 times a day & it should clear up within a week give or take a few days.
I realize this can be embarrassing to speak to your Dr about, but remember they are professional and have dealt with much worse. Just keep focused on having clear skin & not being embarrassed in the future in more intimate settings.

A reply to red bumps on arms. I always thought I was stuck with them forever. I finally went to a dermatologist and she said that I was. I had sensative skin and that just comes with it. A few years later I was at a chiropractic appt. and he was also an alergist. He saw my arms and said... "you know that is from a food allergy don't you?" I set up an apt. with him to see what I was allergic to and quit eating everythign I was allergic to for about a month. My red bumps were gone, my skin was nice, my hair was no longer oily, I had more energy and so on. Sugar/simple carbs ended up being the reason for the red bumps on my arms and nuts ended up being the problem for any cyst type things that would show up on my back or my scalp.

As for my tush, I think I agree w/ the sitting bit, cotton underwear, how often you wash your clothes... etc.

For those who are having issues w/ bikini lines, you might want to try shaving with a Men's product. It is a very thick shaving oil. A much smoother shave with less irritation. I think it is called Anthony, and they sell it at sephora.com.

I would love to know what gets rid of the scarring though.. I'll try the vitamin E and zinc oxide. And I'm an avid thong wearer... so I'll hunt down some cotton underthings.

hey, those stuff you offered to use to get rid of the big pimple on ur butt crack. i didnt really use it but all i did was take a long hot bath for like about 1 and an half hour twice and it popped by itself. it really does work. i didnt touch it or anything after i took a bath it did it by itself.

for a simple way, i suggest to lay in a hot water bath for an hour and half two times in one day and it works.

I can relate to everyone's woes here. It's nice to know that at least I'm not alone in my plight. I will say that what seems to help me is Persagel acne treatment. Although the pimples keep coming back if I stop using it, at least when I do use it twice a day, I don't have the bumps that I can feel. If I skip a day or two out of haste or laziness, I get the bumps back. But as long as I take it, my rear is smooth. Now if I could just find a way to get rid of the scars...so embarrassing. I'd love to have dermabrasion or something but I believe it's quite expensive.

As a teen i had horrid acne on my chest, face and rear end. I took acutane twice and everything but my rear cleared up beautifully. But the butt acne decided to stick around. It wasn't until i was about to go on a tropical vacation and decided to fake and bake (tanning bed) before hand so i didn't get burned horribly as i have pretty fair skin. I did it for about a month and noticed a LOT of the "pimples" were gone! And they stayed gone for a long while. I haven't tanned since then and that was four years ago but the butt acne has returned and it makes me want to go back and fake and bake every so often despite it being so damaging. I probably will in the next coming weeks, hopefully i'll get better results.

Hi all,

Sorry for a long post but read all of it, I think it might be helpful.

I also have this problem...I actually just went to my primary care dr. a few days ago for a regular check up and mentioned the bumps. He took a look at it and presribed me an antibiotic that is supposed to treat "acne of the butt".

I've had this for a while and when I first went to him, he presribed this lotion called clyndamicin(sp) which did show improvement but as soon as you stop using it, it comes back. You apply it twice a day (after showers) but it's in a small bottle so after my 3rd refill I was kind of frustrated and gave up.

So just the other day, I mentioned how that lotion didn't help as much as I wanted it to so he presribed this once-a-day to twice-a-day pill. Don't remember the name but I'm picking up the prescription in a few days. It's only $4/month for a 30 day supply of the generic. I'm going to try it for 4-8 weeks and see if I see any improvements.

I also googled "acne of the butt" to see what would pull up...this forum was one of them but then there was also this "info" web site that suggests a few things to try and says if those don't work and you can afford it, to try this company called Clear Pores - I have no connection to this company nor do I know if it works but if this antibiotic pill my doctor gave me doesn't work, I'm thinking about trying it. It's only $60 (as mentioned at the info site). I don't know any body that's taken their product and I just found it today. Has any body tried their product or know if the company? This is the link to the info site, http://www.acne-treatment-answers.com/butt-acne.html

and then this is the site to the Clear Pores company she suggests, http://www.clearpores.com/index.html?sswn=ceb811c77bc9ca6bee2bd6ba4012e86b

They have two differnt things you can buy, one for just facial acne and the other for body acne or whatever they call it.

A little skeptical about it but for only $60 it might be worth a shot. You spend more than that drinking on a Saturday night.

I'll repost the name of the antibiotic and the results in a few months.

If it works, might be worth asking your doctors about it.

I know it's embarrassing to ask about but your dr. is a professional..and it's also embarrassing during intimate moments...and hopefully you're having a lot more of those than dr. visits so that should make your decision pretty easy.

So the prescription is called Tetracycline, 500MG. You take one pill, twice a day. An hour before or 2-3 hrs after you eat.

There's also a really good product out there that I use when I get a pimple on my face or anywhere else. It's called CleocinT(sp) and the generic version which works just as good is called Clindamycin. There are different forms, get the gel. This stuff works great. My dad is a pharmacist and when I was younger, he used to bring it home for me. I would put a huge glob on a pimple before I went to bed and it would be almost gone by morning.

Me too - Pimples on my butt and I don't have pimples anywhere else!!

Oh, and SCARING PEOPLE!!! listen to me! Vitamin E oil works wonders, rub it on your skin before bed in addition to exfoliating. You can also get a mild chemical peal if you don't mind shelling out some dough.

But back to my butt-
The outbreaks look almost like a rash...like a freaking diaper rash! I feel like I can't even fully enjoy sexual encounters because I am so busy trying to hide my rump!

I have tried soooo many different things. Tea tree oil, Desitin, Calamine lotion, Rubbing alcohol, facials scrubs etc. And after reading all these posts I've decided: I am going to a freaking dermatologist! Screw being too embarrassed to show my butt to a stranger who can CURE my problem and trying to deal with it myself (which isn't working)!! It's better to get it out there and show someone who makes a living looking at those things then my poor boyfriend who does his best NOT to see them. Smile Good luck everyone!
