Once again HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!

Before I Was Myself, You Made Me, Me

Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,
Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me

With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,

And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.

For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

Deb, thanks you! I really liked that poem.

Cleopatra, that sounds fun! We're going to saddle up the horses and go on a long trail ride.

40 Degrees!!! I can't even imagine. We're pushing the 90s now, and that's a late start for us this year. We usually don't have much of a spring, but we did more this year. Normally, it's just a blink and into full-on blazing, blasting summer.

I know! It's nuts! I've never seen wacko weather like this. We have had only a handful of nice days. So much for global warming! Confused

My son didnt call today.
If was by error or by choice, I don't know.
It doesnt matter.
I was there by choice. My son was a choice. 10 lbs 22 inches of baby boy.
I didnt give up. 6 Feet, 3 inches of 350 lbs should tell you how mom loves this baby boy.
I dont want him dead or in prison being someones 'honey'.
My son will call.

I think this says just about everything for moms.....

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom

I only have my tomatoes and peppers planted so far. I already had lettuce by this time last year, and my flowers aren't planted either! Grrrrrr, too!

Cry, did you say that you were near Greensboro, NC? I have a really good friend that lives in the boondocks in southern Virginia. She talks about Greensboro all the time. It's the closest major town to them, I believe. She had the drought last year, and we had rain, rain, and more rain. This year it seems flip-flopped.

Turtle, I would love to plant tomamtoes! They're one of my most favorite things to eat Big Grin For some reason they don't grow well here. The ones I buy at the store are pathetic! I miss my grammy's garden in northern Cali. Frown

Epona, we live in Charlotte NC. That's about 1 1/2 hours from Greensboro. When we lived in Raleigh we would drive up to a lake in southern Virginia, but I can't remember the name of it. I love western Virginia! Well, what I saw of it anyway. We drove through twice while moving to and from Michigan.
