I grew up in the mountains of Colorado. When young, I thought I'd live deep in the Colorado woods. As an adult, I find it disheartening that even a 25 mile hike these days will still find a few campers. This brought Alaska into my dream around ten years ago. Now I find myself searching land listings. I watch every documentary on survival in Alaska. I have even contacted agents and property owners about owner carry. (I am quite poor. With around 5K total debt, I still have lousy credit) I regularly posted on an Alaska forum, Until the reality that I can not afford it made me try to forget the dream again. Shows like this bring my life dream back into the picture. So, Posting that I wish to try, and saying I love the show are my full intent. PLEASE PICK ME!! lol. I'd love to state my case to an official rep. To me, a small spot in the interior would be better then the lottery, I fully mean that. roc1
Roc, I can relate with you. I find myself irritated when I hike miles into wilderness forest only to find people disrespectful of the environment.
I dream of moving to Alaska too, but I adopted a new philosophy several years ago where I gave up material possessions and use barter instead of income. So, like you, I am quite poor, but do not at all regret it.
Well chickeninapot Once I pay off this metal box I live in, My plan was to sell it and try to find land to buy up there. Once there, I will have little to no choice on the barter options. However right now if I wish to pay this off to sell it, I need every dime I can get. I do every odd job I can find be it electronics, construction, landscaping or pet care to scrape by. I will except meat/food as payment. I have a 92 Honda accord, I purchased it just to repair and sell to later afford a 4X4 truck. Every aspect of my life is either based in attempting surviving in a city now, Or getting ready for the move up/out. I just see this as a good way to see for myself, before I commit and am there perminently. But I think I'd far prefer the semi-hermit life. lol
